    I have one in .177. And , yes it does have the plastic stock , BUT , when you add a bi-pod an IR illuminator and a Sightmark Photon RT night vision . It weighs a lot and I am very thankful for the lightweight stock ; even if it is plastic. If you add some weight to balance and fill the butt with foam........Perfect.

      Hi Richard, I was just clarifying the facts but somehow we get lumped into to the same category frequently. The outside air source is always a factor with a PCP, especially the one with a 300 bar fill level. Thanks again for your comments and your continued support 👍

    Love the review jc. Been chomping at the bit to get an agd oppinion of the ava in .25 ever since I got mine. Got mine several months ago when they were still going for 299, and absolutely love it. Great factory trigger, conservative smaller 180cc chamber making it hand pump friendly, light, shoulders great. And holy smokes, the performance for the money. I'm getting 3+ mags at 56fpe and 1 hole groups at 35 yards with griffin cavity point pellet base slugs. As far as the stock, you're definitely not wrong. I just happen to have gotten this gun because of it unbeatable performance for the money, knowing it had a moulded plastic stock. It it did concern me... Until I tested it. The stock is absolutely cheap and cheasy but for me the pros easily eclipse that one con. But I didn't buy this gun for recreation or practice. I needed a PCP that could effectively deal with any predator that might threaten our pet foul. And the ava does that easily, hands down. With all that said, I have to say I totally agree with the mass opinion that the stock sucks. But for what I bought this gun to do, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I vote for an extra half star for the ava. Just because of it's unbeatable features and performance for the money.

    Well said my friend!!! I have one of these and it literally out does what air venturi said it would. It is beyond my favorite!!! Everything on that gun works like a well oiled machine!! The stock is cheap but I live in Houston where it's hot and humid 10 months out of the year... a wooden stock would probably rot. My big complaint is how loud it is... mine sounds and acts like firearm

    I have the .22 and this thing is a tack driver. I don't like the stock either but only paid $299. I see they went up by $50. Also put a Donnie FL Sumo suppressor (fits the Umarex Origin also) and now it's super quiet. I think they should come with a wood stock since they jacked the price up. Thanks for the excellent review. I'm always checking your channel for new vids.

    I'm hoping to snag one of these Air Venturi Avengers in 25 caliber soon. Oddly enough the hollow plastic stock doesn't bother me at all. The gun looks good and shoots with consistent accuracy, so the sound made by tapping the stock with one's fingers is no bother at all to this weekend squirrel hunter.
    The wooden stock looks great, but with my luck, I might crack that wooden stock by bumping into something. Fantastic review, sir. This really helped cement my determination to make my first PCP air rifle purchase an Air Venturi Avenger in 25 caliber. I plan to snag an Air Venturi Nomad air pump as well, given what I've heard about hand pumping in general

    Great job JC. The corporate reason (excuse) for the Avenger stock was it was built to sell at $299 and compromises have to be made.(Check out Air Velocity Sport's video comparisons of the Liberty to the Avenger and the internal changes to cut more costs) And obviously make a ton of money. Look at the nice quality of the Umarex Origin stock. So I agree with you. Then to charge $120 for the wood replacement stock. More profit. For hunting in the woods and all the elements, I prefer synthetic. The Avenger still has a slippery cheap stock now at $350. Plus you can read in the forums about the internal parts falling after moderate year long use at high power settings. Problems known from the Original Liberty and not fixed that could have been for a few dollars!

    Nova Vista KNOCKED this out of the park! I absolutely love my GEN 1 Avenger called the Liberty/Alpha/ and a couple other names depending on where you live but the same ridiculous accuracy still is paramount in the Avenger with an uncrowned barrel…go figure! All I can say is that this may be the best bang for value/$ for a long time to come boss. Very good reviewing a wicked good airgun made in Macau China. Don’t care what name they put on it as long as we all keep an eye on Nova Vista/Air Venturi in the future. Can’t wait for a bull pup from them! Facts y’all! Can’t wait! Thanks and God bless brother. BTW both .22 and .25 give me full magazine groups at 75 yards of less than an American nickel my friend. Just amazing honestly. Keeping well up with some of my airguns that are over 2K$ boss🤷‍♂️. That’s to me says a lot. P.S set the reg at 2400 psi and almost max out the spring and shoot heavy lead😉👌✌️💯🤷‍♂️

    hey man i am a new or really a potentially new air gunner looking for my first airgun. i've been looking for 2 years lol as i haven't had time for the hobby, but this fall i will. ive seen allot of vids and reviews in that 2 years, but airgun detectives is hands down the most thorough. you are so thorough in fact that you are the only person i have seen mention i can replace this with a wood stock. i have seen the wood version but im on a budget and this cheap stock is the only reason i did not buy the air venturi so far, but you saying "i can replace it later with a wood stack' is the deal-MAKER for me. if the plastic stock was passable i wouldn't care but i would live with it for a year till i can buy the wood stock for it separate as i want my first airgun to be something i keep for a long time even if i buy others but i also want it to be my most versatile gun. i am actually considering the .22 for this gun for versatility because in my state i can hunt coyote and fur bearers, but small game is limited to 22 cal, that said the min for fur bearers and coyotes in same state is also 22 cal so to me i would like to get the .25 if im honest but my laws and budget seem to say get the 22.
    can i ask though would you recommend the .25 and then get a cheap .177 for small game like real cheap. or would you get the venturi .22 and just hope you got enough fpe for humane coyote kills? i find it odd they allow .22 for coyote and fur bearers as many .22 airguns on the market are well short in fpe imho for fur bearers. the pcp's are good enough and maybe a gamo magnum, but even the magnum is pushing it for some "peta" members out there lol
    also if you have a better first gun for versatility from small game to coyotes let me know, my budget is @ or under $350. othewise imma go for the 25 or .22 air venturi. plz, let me know your thoughts. i actually would buy the gamo magnum gen 2 swarm but it i fear wont be good enough for coyoteso so i am thinking cheap pcp like air venturi atm

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  3 года назад +2

      Hey Buddy, if you are going to purchase a single rifle just for hunting, then I would go with the .25 caliber. However, if you want more versatility you can go with the .22 caliber and purchase some really heavy pellets for hunting. The .25 caliber Avenger it tough to beat for that price range. As you can see great FPE. Especially with the slugs. Don't forget with this 300 bar fill you are going to need an air source. I would not recommend a hand pump for the 4300 psi fill. That's a whole other expensive you need to consider. I would think about purchasing the "wood" stock version. It is only $80 more on the initial purchase and you can wait for a sale. If you purchase the stock alone it is $120. Happy Shooting 👍

    What should we expect from the Air Venturi Avenger? I have experience with five different Avengers in .22. One had a POI change that was erratic and unpredictable. Nothing seemed to work to correct the problem. The group would unpredictably jump three inches to the left but without changing the scope setting and after several shots the group would shift to the original POI. Strange behavior that I could not correct.
    Another of the five had a barrel that shot so low and right that I did not have enough scope adjustment. Scope shimming was not an option due to stressing the scope tube. Numbers three, four and five had regulator leaks. Those Avengers were the new baffle models that leaked 200 PSI in seven minutes and increased to 600 and 800 PSI over night. Is there a manufacturer’s defect in the new baffle models? Since the Avengers are a budget model and defects should be expected however all five in my experience were beyond tolerable defects. My air rifles and supplies are bought from Pyramyd Air and have not experienced the Avenger problems with other Chinese air rifles. The Gauntlet is a prime example. The Avenger baffle models were accurate on the bench but very unpredictable on the regulator while hunting. Even with all the problems, I am looking for an Avenger .22 that works with tolerable defects. The Avenger sounds like a good hunter.

If u want a full blown on Porsche ur gana have to pay $$$$$$$$ major bills. Its not designed to be that! Its a budget gun that exceeds the expectations! And thats a 10/10! At least for me and the following this gun has. U cant knock on the manufacturer for trying to save. a synthetic stock will not affect performance. So if u ask me they cut corners on the right places. Id rather have a “cheap” stock and dope internals rather Than the other way around. And when everyone was complaining about the stock what did air venturi do? They HEARD US!!! (Unlike most manufacturers) And gave us a wooden stock. So u cant knock on them for something they have already addressed! Just sayin its a 300$ pcp!!!!

    @kenfan5666 3 года назад +1

    Hey JC, Thanks for this review. I'm not impressed with the gun but I appreciate your honesty and evaluation. I totally agree with you about being disappointed with the stock. The Porsche engine in a rusted beat up VW Bug analogy totally made sense, especially to a VW Bug nut like myself. Ferdinand Porsche developed the People's car and the engine was easily one of the simplest easy to work on engines but it should have been in a nicer car. And the Porsche engines in the original post war Porsche cars vs. the VW Bugs shows the disparity between luxury sedans and racers vs the beaters. Who knows, maybe people will go for the beater pcp and a ton of accessories will spur on an aftermarket economy, but for the $350 - 400 range I might pass and buy the Gamo Urban or a Benjamin Marauder.
    So, yeah, I want a relatively inexpensive hunting air rifle. $350 - 400 but I don't want to think "cheap crap" everytime I pick it up. It might be a great shooter but is it going to take the abuse of being knocked around in the woods, dropped from tree stands, or falling onto rocks?
    Besides, .25 caliber is not as popular as .22 caliber. Maybe some .22 slugs will come out in heavier grain weights suitable for hunting at greater distances and hopefully humanely harvesting larger game animals.
    How would you compare this to the Seneca Aspen since they are both made by the same manufacturer? The only difference seems to be that the Seneca Aspen has the built in pump. And they are at the same price point.
    Anyway, thanks again.
    Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

I have owned several Porsches and I still have the Carrera I purchased it gently used in 2006. It's a 2005 launch edition. It only has 16k miles on it, I need to drive the thing. I have never shot the Seneca but I have not heard many positives. Also, H&N does have some nice. 22 caliber slugs, check out my review on the Gunsan. The Marauder is tough to beat. Very dependable. Mike puts out those nice Sentry Deluxe models as well. I still have a .25 caliber in that model to review. Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate the comments. 👍

    So which one should I buy the Gauntlet 25 or the Avenger 25? Sportsman's Guide has the Gauntlet 25 for $250 right now. But I'm seeing videos of the Avenger seemingly smoking the Gauntlet in every category (performance wise). Is that the general consensus?

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  3 года назад

      The Gauntlet is a great rifle and has a lot to offer at a lower price point. The bottle and regulator can be simply upgraded to give you well over 50 FPE with a fill level of only 200 bar. They also came out with a new model that comes with that larger bottle. The triggers are really easy to polish and adjust. I would definitely consider the Gauntlet. Not to mention the Gauntlet has a much better synthetic stock. If you go with the Avenger the wood stock is a must.

    • @jimmendoza4625
      @jimmendoza4625 11 месяцев назад

      I also was debating between Gauntlet .22 or the Avenger .22. I personally like all the settings of the Avenger so the Avenger Bull Pup .22 was the choice I made.

  • @L.V-Rider

    So you have to de-gas the whole reservoir to set the regulator pressure? Or just a smaller post regulator tank?

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  2 года назад

      Anytime you adjust the regulator to a different pressure the tank needs to be empty 👍

    • @L.V-Rider
      @L.V-Rider 2 года назад

      @@AirgunDetectives Sounds like a bummer to me. So if you are in the field hunting and need to change the regulator pressure for some reason, you are buggerd as you will have to empty the tenk.

    Stuff a Sock in it! Seriously, an easy fix for the hollow sounding stock, is to pull the butt plate off and stuff a couple of old socks in it. Totally dampens the hollow sound and changes the cheap feeling of the gun when you handle it. ...You're welcome!
