    Just ordered the JTS Airacuda Max 22 cal. from Mike at Flying Dragon air guns. What a nice man to talk with. It was like talking to an old friend. He gave me a great deal on the rifle, compressor and scope, threw in a tin of JTS pellets too. Thanks for the recommendation.

    Very interesting. I am a member of GTA and saw your post there. I may "need" one of these. I own a DAR Gen II and this rifle reminds me of it in terms of design and manufacture this is a good thing.I know that there only so many ways to make something but the similarities are strong. I am not a fan of thumbhole stocks but it looks as though one could rest the thumb of the shooting hand on the top of the stock and treat the stock as a straight pistol grip.

    One warning about the split rail for the scope...If the front and back rails are not perfectly aligned it can make the scope zeroing at 30m + difficult. I've had this issue with the Venturi Avenger for example. That bolt probe looks nice. Should not damage the pellets when it is pulled back. Many airguns damage the pellet skirts from the magazine because the probe rubs on it as the pellets cycle.

    A top notch pcp. I have seen other reviews and they all pretty much impress the reviewers. I am impressed even if I am a springer guy. JTS had advertised a crank springer but I understand it will not be produced because it is too expensive to manufacture.

    Awesome review on this gun. I actually hopped backwards chronologically in the videos; I saw the JTS 2023 shot-show preview that you did recently, then looked up the regular airacuda, then ended on this one. I definitely think I'm going to pick one of these up, but I might wait until you have a chance to review the new .30 cal before I make my choice. I do have a question: Toward the end of this video, you referenced the regular airacuda and said that it is (well, as close to your words as I can remember) light, powerful and good for hunting. Is that a comment about that gun in particular, or as compared to the MAX? That is to say, is the a non-regulated PCP better than a regulated PCP for hunting? It sounds counterintuitive, but that's how I interpreted the statement and I could easily be mistaken. Thank you.

    My one con with this one might be a very common thing to many modern PCPs... I can't see any open/iron sights on it. So; another 400 on a decent scope for it - if you want to use that good accuracy provided by the rifle itself.... Yea.. Just kinda wanted to say my point. I'd want iron sights, no matter if a scope, or red dot sight would come in the box along the rifle.
    But. A way classy review, once again. Thank you JC!🙂👍🏻

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  2 года назад

      Hi Bror, you are a young guy with good eyes so open sights work for you. Not many PCP's have open sights. The good thing is "no-recoil" so you can get away with a less expensive scope. I hope all is good 👍

      I appreciate you watching. They are trying to balance this model with shot counts as well. The non-regulated model is designed for hunting. Crank the hammer spring down and get a handful of really powerful shots. We'll test that in the future 👍😉

    • @Light_357
      @Light_357 2 года назад +4

      I would be willing to bet this could be adjusted to 50 ft/lbs. It would eat the shot count so if that power is important this probably isn’t the gun for you. It was obviously set up from the factory to sweet spot 25 grainers.

    • @BillyBobTup
      @BillyBobTup Год назад +1

      @@AirgunDetectives I was wondering about the power also, which did not seem all that high for a 25. But, I was also wondering if the power settings were maxed out? Since, this rifle's power is fairly adjustable, isn't it?

      You can get a GX pump for under 360 from Amazon & check out the Crosman icon PCP for well under 300 also or a Beeman cheif or check out the senica aspen with a built in pump etc.

    How does this compare to an Air Venturi Avenger with wood stock? Price, features etc.

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  2 года назад

      They are very comparable. I give the JTS the edge because it has a 3000 psi fill level. I have a AV Avenger .22 cal wood stock. That is a great rifle as well but if I had to chose one, I lean towards the JTS overall.

    Loved the review. However a 1/4" group would have all of the bullets in the same hole. .25 caliber. Not to take away from the gun anything under an inch at that distance with a pellet gun is amazing. That gun will definitely be my next purchase.

    • @BillyBobTup
      @BillyBobTup Год назад

      I think the difference is measuring center to center. For example, sometimes with my 22 Origin, I shoot groups about .19 or .18", when measuring from the center of one hole to the center of the next. From edge to edge would actually be a bit more than .22", unless I truly did manage to have every pellet go exactly thru the center of the previous pellets hole. I think measuring center to center is the norm. One reason for this: if I had a shotgun that would shoot 72 caliber slugs with perfect accuracy(good luck on that), each hole, no matter how close the range, would be no smaller than .72". How am I going to compare that accuracy to a 22 or 17 caliber? If all slugs go perfectly into the same hole, it is still going to be a .72" group, even at 10 yd. But measuring center to center would give (if it was some great shooting) something closer to a .5" group or less.

    • @JW-bw8nj
      @JW-bw8nj 6 месяцев назад

      @BillyBobTup You're correct. Groups are measured from the centers of the two farthest holes. If all of the shots go in the same hole perfectly, then it's technically a 0.00" group.

    Hey, Jc im looking at getting my first pcp, i cant decide to get this or the barra 1100z. Are they both hand pump friendly?

    • @AirgunDetectives
      @AirgunDetectives  2 года назад +2

      The Barra has a smaller air tank so it would be easier to fill. However, the Airacuda has a larger tank but you'll get more velocity and regulated shots. The good thing is they are both a 3000 psi fill. The Airacuda is more $ money so that is something to think about. You can't go wrong either way. Just a reminder, hand pumping is not fun.😉
