If a Group is just a watered down Frame. Maybe it's time to remove Groups from Figma and enforce Frames for all. That'll give less excuses for people not to use Auto Layout.
I can compare this video with the approach my team mate used to teach me. This video is very impractical and confusing. They should've gone with practical and to-the-point approach.

You said here that frames can now be flagged as ready for dev, is that true?
Yes, you can mark a frame as ready for development. Select the frame, and click the "Mark as ready for dev" icon in the center of the toolbar.
