Great tips, Rachel! I used to organize everything by pages instead of by project/team. It served me well, but your ideas are better when considering the file size/longevity of complex projects. Thanks for the insights, and I hope you are well
I only discovered your RUclips channel recently, and I have gained so much value of your videos. I am a developer looking to level up my UI - UX skills and to streamline my processes within Figma. Your videos help me do exactly that and more, Thank you so much for sharing this! You are awesome!!!❤❤
Great video Rachel. Love the template for the covers and your simple setup for the design systems. I’ve seen some really complicated design systems and you keep it to the point with the necessary info.
Very helpful tips, thanks! I found my own ways through the chaos and ended up with similar scheme but I feel a strong need for improvements and will definitely try out some of your ideas :)
I'm so glad I found this channel. You help me a lot and your videos are not only informative, well structured and helpful but also entertaining and intresting to watch ♥ And I would love to see a video about how you start on making a design system, even for smaller teams/projects/products :)
Stock picking is an effort in futility, particularly at an uncertain time such as this. My portfolio is still significant, about $140k, but I'm not confident about picking stocks anymore. Are there really no other options for me to gain from the stock market ?
I'm sorry to hear that. It's hard to beat the market as an ordinary investor,You don't have access to information that most professionals have. So it's just better if you invest with a professional who knows how things work better.
Picking stocks is a risky thing to do, particularly for non-professionals. I learnt that in 2020, when I lost almost everything. But I switched to using a financial advisor, who has better knowledge of the market than I do,and I've been returning at least $38k every month. Just too bad I didn't learn the lesson early one.
@@rachelhow It really is. Thank you for taking the time and effort. I've used Figma and it's always the biggest question; how to organize everything! I'm glad I found your channel, you touch on many of the same subjects I'm thinking about daily. Both as a solopreneur, a designer.. and as a human being :)
This video is very very helpfull as I have started working on Figma... and also was littlebit confuse to organising files and share it with developer... Thank You! soooo... much and pls share more & more this type of videos ... once again Thank you!.....🙏😃 I am Glade to be your Subscriber... Take care... 😘
This is the best video I could find on this topic. I appreciate you! 🌷 I'm a one-man design team in the company I work for and have been working on one product for 5 years. I only have one filre + another for a design system. It's a big file. I've been procrastinating a refactor of my whole system for over 2 years now. Tried once, but I felt overwhelmed and gave up. Hopefully this time will be more successful. I think I'll go with the second approach: "One project for each feature/production state". QUESTION: In some flows multiple features can overlap. This means that when you update one feature, it will have to be updated in multiple projects (multiplied by multiple screens in each)! How would you go about it? Also (offtopic but maybe a solution to the above): Would you componentize whole sections of a screen? I use separate pages for: - particles (for icons and small junk like that), - atoms (for buttons, inputs, radios etc.), - molecules (small groups of multiple atoms and particles like header bars and navigation) AND - organisms (large sections of a screen, like a grid of cards or a whole pricing plan seciton. Some of them get to be reused, some aren't. Organisms really feel like an overkill to me and are a pain in the A, because you can't edit them without breaking them (complex tables anyone?)! Then again, without them you can loose consistency between screens. Since it's half-automated, it's supposed to make your life easier (if it works, which it oftend doesn't). So. Organism components, or just non-automated sections made of atoms? What say you?
Great! Also in web design (website design) I never see well organised files. I put this in my to do to make a template a standardise a practice. As it is "recent" jobs we don't have those standards.
Been waiting for this video clip. Thank you very much Rachel once again. Right now the company I'm working for (as a ui designer) is a small one and my super visor doesn't see it necessary. Our figma files is a huge messy ocean of elements...only I know which is where ...haha...wish me luck 😅
Oh noo 😳 It’s alright, you can be the first to introduce order to the chaos 😂 It’s good practice to have an organized space for work. Make it your daily habit :)
@@rachelhow hahaha...I will be the bringer order to the chaos if they let me 😄 Gonna practice making it a habit on my own little design system. Thank you for your attention and time and kindness 🙃
AMAZING VIDEO! as a junior UX designer this is so useful especially when it comes to being more hands-on with the handoff process. do you have any suggestions if the project involves designing for desktop, tablet and mobile?
Thank you for the great content! I was curious about the separate pages for Designs, Flow, and Prototype. Does this mean there will be three copies of the frames involved in each? Could you please explain the reasoning behind this structure?
Exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you for sharing! Can I ask are you using a plugin for your annotations? Sometimes I feel like I’m spending too much time on those.
Thank you for the video. I wanted to confirm why you used the Button plugin with the link. Was it to toggle between the design and the prototype? I didn't understand what you used that for. Could you please explain. Thanks much,
Is there an example file on the Figma community someone can share which has a good example of file structure? Including how user flows are displayed for different devices, where the pages live, naming conventions etc? Thanks
Hi, Im new to this world and I'm loving your channel so THANK YOU... question do you use also Bubble or only figma and what do you think about them. Thanks
Thank you for watching! I’ve briefly touched Bubble so can’t say much about it. One thing to note: Bubble and Figma are not the same tools. Figma is used for interface design. Bubble is used to build functioning websites or software without having to code. If you need a design tool, Figma is a no brainer :)
hello, yes! because (1) it’s easier to make edits to your prototype without affecting high fidelity screens; (2) there could be a LOT of screens used for prototype and if you are working within a team, it might confuse others when there are too many screens that look similar. hope this clarifies!
Hey! I really enjoyed watching your videos, rachel❤. I am a junior ui/ux designer. Can you tell me how to get into design communities so it can help me boost my work.

Thank you for the great value of the video that you have provided us, it is very interesting to get ideas to test and implement, I thank you infinitely.
I love seeing how others product designers set up the file. I liked the overview and prototype button. Will start doing that !

Rachel, thank you so much for your videos; this is helping me to get everything cohesive on my transition from graphic designer to a UX UI path!

Thank you, Jessica, I'm well! There's no right/wrong way to organize your Figma file/project/team, it's okay to iterate and evolve as you scale.
one of the most helpful design tutorials I have seen on YT about Figma. Thank you!!!!

Have you heard of Liza Mackenzie ? I got a chance to benefit from her services a few months ago and it has been a very smooth experience.

These are great, but at the cost of more time.
"Free Figma File Template" has 3 empty pages (non ---- dividers)
I assume this won't work if you're using the free version of Figma
Hmm, most of the features mentioned in the video can be applied to the free version of Figma. They have a generous free plan!
