immediately clicked when i saw this, amazingly helpful as you not only said what to do but how to do it! I am starting year 12 next year, do you have any other tips?
Thank you so much! I do have more advice in the applying to med school document and in other videos (e.g. the one where I talk about how i got into cambridge)
thank you so so much!! This is literally one of the most useful videos i've seen about applying to medicine and thanks again for the additional resources in the description. Such a lifesaver fr. also I had a question- I've got my mocks in may and i'm not really planning on doing any super curriculars right now because I've got revision to prioritise. however do you think this is too little time. I would've loved to do the olympiads but my school never did them and now its too late as all the ones for bio chem and maths are done for this year- are there any other competitions you'd recommend- and where exactly do you find essay competitions. Thanks again xx
thanks for your kind words cleo! in answer to your questions: no there is enough time definitely, particularly over the summer holiday here is a list of essay competitions: themediccollective.wordpress.com/essay-competitions/. The links might not be updated this year so make sure to check on the official websites from each college to find updated essay competitions. Hope this helps!
@@RohanYesudian thank you so much- that's really helpful. Also I've been watching more of your channel and wanted to say I love your vlogs theyre so motivating! Also(hate to be that person but I have another question lol sorry) if i start volunteering after may half term I can only get 4 months of volunteering in. I'll try to do more hours so that I can get a good reference but I was just worried that just 4 months of volunteering would make my personal statement stand out less compared to more capable candidates who've done say a year of volunteering. Are there any other things besides essay competitions, moocs and extra reading that you'd recommend? Thanks so much- really appreciate it xx
Nice video rohan , just wondering if you know anything about becoming a plastic surgeon in the US from studying in the UK as info about this is abit scarce?
Does watching your channel count as an extra curricular? ;) Just kidding, I just wanted to thank you for another great video. Even though I am an education major, I enjoy your content for inspiration and broadening my knowledge on things outside my "bubble". Greetings from Germany ! :)
You're welcome! Yes I did a bit of volunteering and hospital placement before applying for medical school. You can find out more about these things in my ebook: docs.google.com/document/d/11YOtBMt350IPiO7Mn_ht8v0Gu6zX8BIF/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=108550279405128650455&rtpof=true&sd=true
Did you do any olympiads? If so what ones did you do and what did you achieve if you don't mind me using? Would you recommend doing the biology olympiad in year 13 as well?
Hi Gaanav, I did the UKMT maths challenge every year at school and achieved gold each time (somehow lol!) I also did the biology olympiad in year 13 and got a gold award I did the physics olympiad in year 12 but I missed out on any awards :( I never did the chemistry olympiad Hope this helps!
@@RohanYesudian Thanks for getting back quickly. If you do the bio olympiad in year 13, how would you include it in your personal statement as the olympiad is near the end of the school year?
@@gaanavmanyam9214 I didn't include it in the personal statement. But i think it's still good to do anyway because it develops these other skills which aren't really tested through the normal A-level course
Hey Rohan I just started my IB and I got 5A*s and 3As at my IGCSEs .I had a doubt that would these IGCSE grades impact my chances of getting into top UK medical schools.or is t the IB that I should focus on and score excellent grades

Great video! I am thinking of applying to cambdirge but I only have A*A*A with A in chemistry. If I get a high bmat, will that possibly give a chance at an interview or is it too late? I understand some colleges require A* Chemistry predicted but I am willing to take the risk and apply to one's that don't.

another tip is to make sure to relax as well by doing extracurriculars that you enjoy. I feel that will help you focus when you do sit down to study!

Is it necessary to win olympiads or essay competitions for admissions? Will the participation count??
It's not necessary to win. Participation is enough, so long as you reflect on your experience and say what you learnt from the process
Loved the super medic turn😂
