I know nothing about batteries although I do know that Kodak are not Ze best! You know me geez I’m always on a budget. I managed to get this one for £11 or something and it was advertised as not working etc but I just wanted one for the board and because I missed out on x2 in the box that ended up selling in auction for a measly £23 which like you say each one would have or could have fetched between £90 to £120 ish each! 🙈 it was at that moment I had realised I had F’d up! Still not at the end of the of this technical operation so I may come back to add to Ze comment but yeah man ☝🏼❤️🤜🏼 really appreciate this and I’m sending the link to my Nan who I think will really enjoy watching this project as she was devastated when it didn’t work or should I say worked then didn’t work then completely when AWOL. 😅
😂😂 and yep exactly that! Head was poppin. E.T went AWOL 🙈🤣
    Anyways…
As I said when I asked you to consider this opp I had no real expectations and if all went wrong at least we we tried but mannn you have gone above and beyond for E.T and honestly mate really appreciate your service and support really enjoyed watching this one for obvious reasons I just hope it didn’t cause too much stress or neg vibes. Don’t forget to send over your preferred payment option so I can square you up. 👍🏼
Now shut up E.T and Go Homeeee!! 🤪

I bought one of these from Toys "R" Us in 2000, when they first came out. I was a little kid, and I had saved up my birthday money to buy it (I think it was $40). I ended up returning it, since it would randomly wake up in the middle of the night and start talking (just like in your video, when it began talking in the middle of your repair). Years later, I found one on eBay and bought it for nostalgia's sake, only to encounter the same problem again. I later read online that it was a common issue, and that others had also experienced the same thing with theirs. I have no idea what happened to my second one. I might even still have it in storage somewhere. If I do, I think I'll sell it.

Firstly I would check the speaker and speaker wires/connections. If there's nothing wrong there then it could be a problem with the blob chip but there's nothing you can do with them.

It's really hard to tell with these. I'd just check the wires to the speaker. If they're intact then it could be a problem with the blob chip which is impossible to change. But it could be so many things.
