    She is so right. We need acknowledgement of the crimes perpetrated in the name of the Crown, or with its tacit consent. Then an apology from the King, then treaties, reparations, and a new Australian Republic, severed from the Monarchy, with a constitution decided in partnership with Aboriginal leadership.

    And, having a group of 'intellectuals' to be The Voice to parliament, will not solve Indigenous community problems either.

She seems to be hellbent on crushing people who aren’t her mob, which emotionally I can understand, however realistically we are here now and have to work together. If she intends otherwise she probably needs to tone down the language to be more inclusive with her words, for ALL Australians. Not just First Nation

    Lidia Thorpe's employment into parliament, was as a result of using 'Identity Politics'. Lidia was employed because she is an Indigenous Australian, not based on other and more important criteria like qualifications, skills, and expertise. This is why she is failing us as a representative for our Australian nation. Lidia's racist behaviour toward "white" Australians is despicable and is self destructive of her character and trust as a parliamentary speaker.

    • @milkypeanit
      @milkypeanit 11 месяцев назад

      She's a senator, not parliamentary speaker. People in her electorate voted her in, knowing her political viewpoints. She is not, as you said, "failing as a representative for our Australian nation" because that is simply not her job as a senator. She used basic electoral politics to get into parliament, not identity politics.

    • @sophie-963
      @sophie-963 11 месяцев назад

      @@milkypeanit The Senate maintains a number of committees, which engage in a wide variety of inquiries. The results have no direct legislative power, but are valuable forums that raise many points of view that would otherwise not receive government or public notice. Lidia Thorpe's conduct is reprehensible and is therefore undesirable as a representative of Australian politics.
