This makes a great lesson not only for how Monika teaches us the months and ordinal numbers, but for her “baby stepping” us into one of basic Polish’s key prepositions.
dziękuję bardzo for this brilliant video with a clear structure, lots of great examples, and also pronouncing all the months in a raw at the end of the video - it is a perfect set of everything needed in one video.

Hi Monika, really appreciate this video. The way you set it up taught so much more than just the months of the year. I have a question. How do you write the date in full in Polish? Is it the same as in English? For example 1st November 1993 would be first of November nineteen ninety three. The reason I ask is that I am planning on writing out the date in full everyday just as another way of helping me remember numbers, days, months etc. Many thanks, Jonathan, UK
Hi Jonathan, glad that you found the video useful! Giving dates in Polish will be a bit different than in English. 1st November 1993 would be: "pierwszy" (first) "listopada" (of November or November's. "listopada" is the genitive form of "listopad". The genitive case is used among others to define possession) "tysiąc dziewięćset dziewięćdziesiątego trzeciego roku" (literally: thousand nine hundred of ninetieth third year) :o
@@PolishwithMonika That's great! Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. The case system is one of the hardest aspects of learning Polish for an English speaker. The other is pronunciation and that is why your other video on pronunciation of the alphabet is so helpful. Again, it's really well put together and very easy to learn from.

I wanna come to Poland and learn polish language,
Can someone tell me what case the examples are taking place in?
It's not genetive or nominative... So...? locative?
Some of them are nominative, some locative. After w, the word becomes locative because w means in, a location
12 grudzień
november ?
December's fight, November is written in the last
For a second there, I thought there was two Novembers. Which would have been so Polishly Polish.
Sorry, my mistake in the translation! Grudzień is obviously December :)
