Good morning Kevin. I have wanted to write a "Thank you" text for quite some time now. For years and years I have battled alcohol and last July (2016) , I stopped. I realized that no matter how much I drank, it will not bring my late wife back, it will not get me to where i want to be physically and mentally. My daughter and son have seen pictures and heard stories about when I trained and my love for bodybuilding. Within this last year, I went from 262# to 185#. I am 50 years old and I am leaner and stronger than i was when I was 19. The human body is amazing and I just needed to quit beating my system down. Through ALL of this though, you my friend (through videos) helped me IMMENSELY! THANK YOU SIR-

Since I am sober this has almost stopped except if I am run down and over tired, then I occasionally get it. Couldn't figure why it was happening when I was drinking but suspected it was alcohol related and it was!

Scott Boatright you hit the nail square on the head. I never accepted the idea that alcoholism was a disease, it is absolutely a mental disorder. I know this for a fact as I have made some of the most insane justifications as to why I needed to drink. To someone who has never had a drink in their life, my reasoning would surely earn me a trip to the mental ward.

Never really drank before a year ago. My marriage was going down hill and I was miserable. I had been living a life I didn't want. I then started drinking.... Heavily. From morning to bedtime, at least a fifth a day, everyday. I've done a lot of self improving over the last 6 month's in general and now the same bottle will last me two days. I'm drunk as I type this, I'm going to quit I'm just worried about night time. That's when my anxiety goes into over drive, it always has. For 35 years I couldnt stand alcohol and then suddenly overnight I drank way too much amd couldn't stop, I thirst for it. All the self improvement I've done will never hit its potential until I stop. I just don't know how

Great video, Kevin. One other point about sleep: Matthew Walker, in his book Why We Sleep, talks about REM sleep as being absolutely crucial to our mental and emotional health. It is in REM sleep that we are able to process trauma/negative things in our life. Alcohol curbs that REM sleep, which means that alcohol is not only affecting us physically, but also mentally. As you pointed out at the end of your video: alcohol screws us up in every possible way, but the flip side is: when we quit, the benefits are felt in every single part of our bodies and our very lives. Thank you for this!

I am getting older an getting scared of my consumption is out of control, lost my father to liver cancer at the age of 69. I don’t wanna be the same sadistic. Yet... my care of my life in my head feels bleak. Possibly cause of the booze. I have no friends, probably cause I drink an won’t leave my house, can’t get a dui. Yet I hear I need to do this for myself, yet feel I still need a being to give me some reason to want to. An I feel I have none. So really find it hard to find the desire. Maybe need depression meds? The best way to describe damage that a have is like living with a constant hangover even though that I no longer drink at all. Headache body aches nausea tiredness no energy poor complection due to the liver not removing toxins in the body and not processing food properly absorbing minerals and vitamins needed. Brain and memory and emotional problems. All round total pain in the arse stuff but most bizarre of all I have had no desire to drink alcohol for months now a just hope that I make some improvements health wise but I will never drink again. That is a great feeling knowing that whatever happens the stuff will never pass my lips again.

Hangovers are caused by dehydration and loss of electrolytes. Brain fog can be attributed to many things, but inflammation is a huge culprit. Cut out carbs and sugars and you'll slowly see inflammation improve and thus brain fog. Stay hydrated and cut out the sugar and carbs and you'll probably see improvement. Best of luck to you.

Don't forget, we all make bad judgment calls. We all have addictions and things to overcome, made harder with chemical effects..... you'll be so much better when free of it.... Just step by step, replacing old thinking (or lack of) with new thinking, wanting a better life, a better you. You'll all get there. We all need to do good habits daily, hard in this time. Just do it. Only way. Thanks to inspiring journey stories. :-)
