- After a long-anticipated wait, the Thorium Mod is now available on the Steam Workshop! The Thorium Mod is a "Vanilla+" content pack that adds a massive variety of new items, weapons, armors, NPCs, bosses, and even 3 new classes into the vast world of Terraria!
With magnificent sprites from BrutalLama, AdipemDragon, Barometz, BluNinja, and many others, as well as crisp code from direwolf420 and DarkLight, we hope everyone enjoys the Thorium Mod as much as-if not more than-the base game!

@@AdrlOink calamity adds nearly 4x more bosses, thousands of items, 5 new biomes. not only that but post moon lord content post moon lord in normal terraria is non-existent. calamity basically doubles the game by adding so much late game stuff

Unlike a certain other mod that's synonymous with Terraria modding, I think Thorium is quite deserving of its popularity.
If there was ever an DLC for terraria this would be it. You're all absolutely talented and wonderful
Finished thorium a bit ago, loved ever about it, even the post moon-lord boss was well balanced
The added NPCs are one of my favorite things about thorium

I love Thorium! It is without a doubt one of the most vanilla friendly mods out there, and adds so much to pre existing content!
I agree with a lot of people I feel like thorium is a perfect dlc and doesn’t stray too far off the main game whilst still adding lots of fun content and things to explore, when calamity feels like a whole new game experience sorta, they are both so awesome!
Tbh I love thorium art better than calamity, it is more terraria og look alike
thorium is for if you want more terraria. calamity is for if you want calamity
Calamity is definitely a better mod overall but thorium is way better at keeping the terraria feel intact
@@jojobod saying it's better is suggestive. I'd say comparing Thorium to Calamity would be like comparing DLC to a Remaster. I've always preferred Thorium and how everything added in it FEELS as if it was right at home with all the other content within Terraria. Calamity however is in my opinion an entirely new game if you think about it. It's the Terraria Otherworld to Thorium's Terraria 2 if that makes sense!

Thorium was my gateway to modded Terraria/Tmodloader and my friend's intro to Terraria in general. 3 years on and we're finally making the move to 1.4 thanks to this announcement, along with some other mainstay large content mods, but Thorium absolutely has a special place in our hearts. Always looking forward to more Thorium! :D
Thorium and calamity have always gone hands in hand for me, so I'm excited to replay with this now too

Thorium is one of my go-to mods. It's one of the very very very very VERY few mods that actually feel like it could be actual Terraria content if you didn't know it was a mod. My only complaint is that some of the sprites...definitely show their age. I've read that they do plan to update the sprites, but man some of them just stick out like sore thumbs. That Queen Jellyfish boss and the underwater boss whose name I always forget are some of the biggest criminals in that regard.
Still, this is a staple mod that I almost always have active in playthroughs, even if it's only to spice up the world a little bit.

So like, do you still fight the original bosses first, and then get the new bosses? Do the npc's still have preferred biomes and neighbors and are the new npc's integrated well? I was considering playing calamity but i don't wanna stray too far from vanilla. Oh, and does thorium work with the extra large world mod?

Glad to see thorium is finally back up and running again. Any idea on whether or not we’ll be getting resprites? I feel like many of the items and bosses are well due for a 1.4 refresh.
I think the only thing the mod needs is boss resprites/sprite overhauls in general cause imo the sprites/animation are not up to par that vanilla 1.4 is at
