This brings me to tears brova. Whenever you listen to this song and think on her she is there, trust me. She is wit Allah in Peace watching you n can't wait to reunite
Is it just me ? I seem to appreciate this more now, than when it was originally released. there are not many tunes that actually get better with age. This is certainly one of them.
yall children dont even know!! i first heard this song back in 1974 it was my moms favorite song such good times back then.... where the hell did all the time go. well..... the 70's are long gone and so is my mom. man....... 2023 and still introducing this masterpiece to the new generation. They can't believe this type of music existed without them knowing about it. Real Music Will Never Die!
I'm a 36 year old that appreciate great era of R and B music that makes me feel alive! It took me long enough to find the artist of this beautiful song!
Brand New Nubian - My dad used to say "all of ya'll hip hop songs come from my generation". I realized over the years my dad was right, so many hip hop songs are influenced by the previous era.
as a 23 year old, i honestly appreciate this kind of music so much more than current day music. with some exceptions in there. just great music in the 70-90s
still here. 2024. I didn't know how talented she was - basically a prodigy who at the age of 4 joined her church choir!!! Well, the musical accompaniment together with her amazing voice blows my mind. I stand by my earlier statements made 3 years ago - maybe the best RB song ever made.
I grew up and about 22 when this song was on the airwaves. It had special powers. Really, the situations created by this woman and song will remain as what LOVE is supposed to feel like. Listen to closer than close.. Lovely
She is the real deal. Saw her in person and I was floored. She had a range that was simply remarkable . So happy I was able to witness this fine artist, who is completely under rated.
BET's 'Unsung' episode on Ms. Carne brought me here. It was a definite 'I thought I knew but had no idea' revelation. Jean Carne was Rachelle Ferrell decades before Rachelle Ferrell. Mind you, I grew up during the 1970s-1980s, listening to mostly Soul, R&B, and Funk. Sad to say I was largely unaware of Jean Carne's music, though admittedly my ears were too underdeveloped to comprehend and appreciate an artist of her skill and depth during that time. Thankfully me and my ears have finally grown up enough to recognize what her hardcore fans already knew: Jean Carne is incredible yet woefully underappreciated singer. #respect
The message in this song was and still is so apt in relationships. With today's society I can understand how hard it is to let someone know you're vulnerable when it comes to feelings. Them strings at 1:53 always get to me.
This Song Always Takes Me Back To When I Would Visit My Mother's House In Newark, NJ. This Was One Her Favorite Songs, And It Always Seemed To Be Playing On Her Stereo Whenever I Went There! ❤
I first heard this soul classic as part of the soundtrack from a now film classic, "Young Soul Rebels". It was released in movie theatres (remember those?) in 1991, written and directed by Isaac Julien, a gay Black Brit Londoner, known for his daring break-through film, "Looking for Langston". While YSR was set in 1977 London, Carn's song was not aired until 1978. I had the pleasure of meeting Jean Carn backstage at Blues Alley, DC, in the summer of @1998 (she was so gracious and beautiful). She asked which song I enjoyed most from her set, and of course I sputtered "Don't Let It Go..." and that I owned the "YSR" CD of which it was a single. She looked at me quizzically and told me she had never heard of the movie or its director. She said testily she would inquire of her manager as to my info the next day. We continued to talk about her career, her background and more. My night (not life) was complete! I love replaying this memory of the the movie, Jean Carn's brilliant song and performance every time I cue this song up on my playlist.
Say it Loud, I'm black and I'm Proud..As a 11yr old reading this spray painting on the local store, by my grandmother's house in Houston, tx..James Brown was right...Thank God I'm Black...
Maybe best RB song ever made. Up there with earth wind fire "on your face" or Aretha's "Betta find me an angel" (I know that's not the title but you know the song). You get my point.

As a 74 year old this isn't R'nB as I know it. Try listening to the genre from the 1960s when British groups copied the US version.
I love this song. Reminds me of someone special ❤
Real instruments real talent .
