I've been fighting this for weeks. I wasn't moving the planes into the component, so the planes would align but my component wouldn't move. Thanks! I feel dumb but so glad I understand why now!
Great! Very helpful. Thank you! (Another, otherwise good, tutorial said something like, "there's no good way to do this, you just have to eyeball it.")
@@machiningcoolstuff9124 Probably an Einscan for that model...could have been a SMARTTECH scanner, though. Design Wrap was the probably the meshing software.
@@into3d96 Thank you so much! I am going to try an XYZ scanner we have. I am going to look up the Design Wrap software. We are starting up some custom automotive parts reverse engineering. Your video was awesome. Glad we found it. Thanks for making it and responding to our questions!
I've done this far, far stupider ways for the last couple of years. This is excellent, thankyou for sharing :-).
Wow been trying to figure this out for days. Very clear explanation 👏
Thank you! Just the right thing that I was searching for:)
Excellent explanation! Helped me a great deal with a project I’m working on. Many thanks 🙏

I had to right click component and "Unground from parent" (I'm using imported stp files), then I was able to align to origin as in the video.
Thank you for your effort, it helped a lot! :)
Great video. Very helpful for me.
Thank you for this. I'm a SW user and needed to use Fusion to work with an STL file. This helped me out tremendously.
super helpful! Thanks!
Very handy, thanks a lot
Love you man
Thanks so much!

Wow... I don't want to admit how I've been aligning scan data before today 😅
Sometimes this works for me and other times it won’t let me click on the mesh to make the plane. I have no idea why it doesn’t always work. Help.
what if mesh is not closed? create components from the body is option is not there
I Cannot Create a plane using 3 points ? It wont let me select any vertices on the mesh I inserted into Fusion
You need to first click on create base future. It’s under create in solid option.
quetion, why i cannot drag the planes to the component
its a 5 y.o video. things changed
What Scanner and scan software did you use???
This process would work with any mesh resulting from a scan. The software is Fusion360 in "Sculpt" mode.
@@into3d96 Thanks! I use Fusion360. Wasn't what capture software/equipment was used.

Great 👍, please you should make more videos like this🫡
