So helpful. I have a stepson who vandalises & steals. I got the viewpoint from him that life was meaningless. So by what the lecturer said my stepson is saying can’t you see how meaningless my life is.
I would say that your stepson triggered something that was in you from way back, probably childhood.. Have you heard of Gordon neufeld and Gabor maté? They wrote a book together, and in my opinion they understand children from a developmental perspective which makes much more sense than psychoanalytic jargon. It's not that he isn't unto something, it's just outdated and we need to move on from that old-school jargon.the book changed my life, it's called "hold on to your kids". The best parenting book guaranteed.
@@alvodin6197 I don’t find he triggers anything from me even though he talks about his crimes including kidnapping. He looks for a reaction but shrugs when I don’t give him any credence. He feels life is meaningless.
Is all about self vs other and survival. No matter if Sages for eons have said that there is not Other, that all is a Single Self a total Oneness of Consciousness. In the relative realm there will be the self figthing what it consider to be other or different than it. Tribalism,Nationalist,Ethinic Attachment, Ideiology, Fundamentalism etc.. all a sort of Indentity Attachment that say this is me me me and that is you you you and unless you accept me and convey to my way I will be in War with you!! This Ego being cant see, is to ignorant to see that all Other are nothing but him or herself, fragments of the same Whole. In a Individed mind there will be no need to be agressive against other since Other become Itself, so agression to Other would be the same as agression to Itself.
