  • Lots of metal in the oil on our John Deere 1025R front drive gear train. We use the front wheel drive about 5 percent of the time. Based on the metallic content in the oil, we will be pulling front drive service at the 200 hour mark.
    YMMV

You can see the metal. 700 plus hours it's doing really good. Mine is first at 100hrs then I thinks it's every 300hrs. I agree with you sooner is better then later. Have a good week Pm! See ya!

I guarantee you will always be in 4wd if you plow snow. This little 1025R is an amazing tool. This will be my 5th year plowing snow. Know it's limitations, take care of it and believe me, it will take care of you. It's an amazing little tractor. I'm impressed all the time. JUST BE CAREFUL AS ITS WHEEL BASE IS VERY NARROW !!!!!!!!!! So it's subject to tip overs. Be diligent.
I did this same service at 100 hrs. Saw a lot of filings. The break in is where most wear shows up in the front end and everywhere else.
