    Dark/Hunter Green is such a super color on Bec. Compliments her dark hair and accentuates her eyes. Thanks, Peter, on letting us get a peek into the campaign shoot :)

    I appreciate how far you go to get the shot you are looking for. It is helping me stop saying "That will do". and be a lot more specific in what I am looking for. Always appreciate your videos even if I do not always comment.

    Bec is so incredibly photogenic. Love that the background has texture and isn't plain like a sheet of paper would be. But, the lighting is the main thing. Must be fun to have all those lights to experiment with. Love the little strip flash.

    Such a model...
    no one goes from "girl next door " to instant model like Bec, flowing from pose to pose, she sits and suddenly "on". She's the best
    I'm not a photographer,i know nothing ,i watch only for your personalities and interactions....

    I really appreciated this video. I’m an engineer, not an artist. My daughter bought me a Pocket 3 at Christmas and I recently started exploring the Color page in davinci Resolve. The dodge and burn advice you just demonstrated could be applied to two nodes on the Color page, I figure. And, soon they will be! I’ll watch this again to see what else I can try. Trying to keep the Old Man’s Brain warm, you know? Thanks to you and Bec. Very helpful. 🎉

    Love to use gradient map to enhance b/w.
    That is an awsome shot and I totally agree on the dodge and burn over softening the whole face or even upperbody.
    Just a thing to know (not major important) when you bring in a 16 bit image in PS it changes to a 15 plus 1 bit To make it odd and have a midpoint but I guess you know that .
    Okay guys very interesting and thanks again for sharing

    Again, just getting Bec’s to change seat position, her face just changes, and I don’t think I have seen her eyes so bright in an image, as she did when you made her laugh.
    Bec’s singing, another string to her bow, you could be her manager 😂

    Many thanks for this new podcast.
    @B: It's great fun to see you with those cylinders rolled up in the hairs of your head. But the best, the most valuable in this session, is to see how P has been able to get a smile out of your face (e.g., at 4:12 and 4:59); from my point of view, this is a very important non verbal positive message, from the Model to the photographer, that says that things are working well.
    @P: I don’t know why but I am very attracted by that kind of metallic reflectors (as with the beauty dishes), and I feel they talk to me. Unconsciously the idea comes to my head that I would be able, much easier, to direct the light, if I use them. I am aware this is not true, that there are much modern and better lighting equipment that can be used, like the other ones that you are using in this session, but proper understanding direction of light would be required to use them; and I remember, from the last podcast, that you said something like direction of light is one of the things that people find it difficult to understand.

    i guess i REALLY need to find a hands-on photoshop class. ive tried following along on youtube but i just cant do it. i dont know if its the time it takes, the fact i dont really know what im doing in Ps or what, but i know i do learn well in the classroom. problem with mos yt is that they assume you already know what Ps is doing and how to do things.
    YOU obviously have got some good experience with it. im glad you fixed that seam in the background that was popping up from Bec's head lol

    I have been switching to portrait style photography over the last year, and Bec is my ideal model. I love the faces she does, and I guess it helps that she's gorgeous 😄. Do you (or anyone reading) suggest handing out a business card or anything to random people on the street? I don't want to come off as creepy, but some people just have that look I want to get in my photos. I'm just too nice and don't want to come off the wrong way. It is 2024, you know.

    • @davephoto3
      @davephoto3 5 месяцев назад

      I use business cards. I hand them out at restaurants and bars we go to. Also, at car shows, Autorama and Autoshows that the manufacturers put on. I always give the model I work with a few extra for her to pass to friends that may be interested.

    • @PeterCoulsonPhotographer
      @PeterCoulsonPhotographer  5 месяцев назад +1

      I have business cards, but I can't remember the last time I handed one out, I'm not a big fan personally of the cold cold or cold selling so much prefer it when someone approaches me for my Photography

    • @davephoto3
      @davephoto3 5 месяцев назад

      Is that the way it was when you first started working fashion with models? I'm not a famous photographer. It's an inexpensive way to get my name out. I've been published in a few regional magazines, That helps too.

    Hi, I'm grateful for your video's, but I would like for you to have commented more in the beginning on why your using a defusser on the big Octobox and the ratio "f-stop" between small refelctor under it. That really got my curiosity up. I'll have to experment with that.

    • @PeterCoulsonPhotographer
      @PeterCoulsonPhotographer  5 месяцев назад

      The diffuser was to pass to shadow on the background, and I don't use ratio to set up my lighting. I just like to buy what I like.

    On most of your videos you spend a lot of time tweaking and perfecting your lighting. Understandable given your years of experience, but, for amateurs like me, can you recommend one of your videos or other Link showing your most basic or simplest portrait lighting set up and equipment, so I can forget about lighting and concentrate on practising your "model training?"
