Bec At The River

- This was a very challenging shoot - shooting with Bec in a beautiful location, but she doesn't like the outdoors and the lighting was not great. We kept going with the shoot, moving Bec around to different spots in the river to get different lighting on her face, before eventually finding a rock for her to sit on where finally the shot came together.

You may not like nature Bec, but is sure as hell likes you. Awesome Captures Peter!
Thank you
Grumpy Bec is just too adorable.
Having a model like Bec is like a kiss from God. Very nice.
Bec's faces as she was moving around were hilarious! And note to self, if I ever get the chance to work with Bec it will be at a studio, or a 5 star resort. Lol.
Bec is so adorable. Love these videos.
😊 thank you
Ha ha ..that was hilarious... Bec's face when she was stumbling out of the river with you laughing was a classic ! Great images though, beautiful spot.
Glad you enjoyed it
RUclips is full of videos portraying beautiful women ... but Bec manages to catch your attention in a way that few other pretty women do, she has such a charm ... I truly enjoy watching her model for Peter, thanks a lot for sharing your photo techniques with us. Cheers.
Thanks so much
It was so much fun to watch Bec walking around in the river.
and I get to see this everyday 😁
What an awsomedemonstration of Proffessionalism Bec displayed. I did manage to ‘stop laughing’ (with, rather than at) long enough to enjoy the tutorial too.
Lol thanks so much :)
Always wear shoes when walking in the river, spare shoes that is, but shoes none the less. You had the right idea. Great fun, thanks.
This is so incredibly funny. LMAO 🤪. Bec's face just says it all.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Beautiful Bec, looking Sensational!
I was hoping no creepy crawly thing came along and scared Bec to death!! Only a pro could give that fantastic look outwardly while screaming to get up inside!! Have a wonderful holiday season guys!
Happy holidays
This has to be one of the most entertaining shoots in a long time. Bec the pro comes through in the clutch, great eyes as always. This may the first time I've seen her without her wine glass so that might explain her mood.
Glad you enjoyed it
Natural light. Outside picture of Bec. Fabulous results. 👏
Thank you! 🙂
Bec is such a trooper ! I would have never guessed she could pull off a fabulous shot - but she did ! Well done you two. Cheers !
Thank you
The final image of Bec is killer!
Thank you
You can tell the mark of a fantastic model, when they are able to channel all exterior comforts or discomforts into producing incredible work...Bec is Fantastic...even if she had to get her hands wet! Awesome work Peter!
Thank you
You are a true professional Bec to not show the frustration of being in an environment you didn’t like but not showing it on the shots! Stunning as always!🫶🏼
Oh I think Bec is feeling that attitude now for sure Peter. You are getting ready to get a piece of it here soon.
Peter, that was a very fun video watching Bec struggle in the water. But, the photos were breathtaking!! Thanks you guys.
Our pleasure!
All through the video I just had a feeling Bec was thinking ‘Paybacks…..’
Awesome shoot! I learned some ideas for outdoor lighting.
Thanks, She's always thinking paybacks
Thanks Bec for trooping thru that torture. A lot of nice shots. There is always something to learn from you two.
Thank you
Beautiful nature, beautiful model, perfect photos! Thank you for video!!
So nice of you
Bec's face !! Priceless 🤣🤣
The many faces of Bec
Stunning work. Cheers team
Thanks a lot 😊
The great outdoors!
Peter I love the way you work bec you can be amazing but not all the time 😮😮😊
Thank you
Nice Bec an Peter, on the river Love It
Thank you
Very helpful to see how you coach people quickly towards the look you're aiming at.
Thanks glad it was helpful
Love it Bec! Thanks for the laughs. It's bloody hard to walk over smooth river rocks so I get it.
Channelled all those feels into smouldereyes!
Poor Bec’s, making sit with all that beauty around her, some days are just so tough without the wine 🍷😂😂😂
She had plenty of wine afterwards :)
Fantastic watching two professionals working together so seamlessly, just an amazing team always delivering superlative results. Sports both of you for navigating those doubtless slippery stones. Much respect and thank you for sharing the experience!!
Thanks for watching
Great images, love Bec in any sitting and Peter you are fantastic! Thank you for all the great videos, looking forward to the next one.
Glad you like them!
Nature is to die for
So funny to see 😂 indoor Bech out in the dangerous world. But she still can get a pro look even she don't like nature.🤣🤣
Yes 😊
this girl is born for wildlife and nature. And the finale image, excellent
Thank you
Love the black and white photos
Thank you
wow that's a really beautiful pic of you sitting in the river
Insta360 Flow represented =) Great video!!
Yes! Thank you!
=)@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer
This was a good example of having no big crew to get good shots.
Great video and photos.
Would like to see more of Bec’s awkward expressions in nature 😂
Thank you, yes I don't like having a big crew especially on location
Rocky river without shoes?.....Bec is more brave than most. Well done!
Yes thank you
Love that location and as usual Bec rocked it!
Thank you
That was awesome, Peter you owe Bec for this one. But great results!!!
Thank you
Love what you said. U don't do something that we probably can't do when it comes production crew or do things that we are limited with. That's what makes you the Best Peter. I keep coming back to ur pro tips.
Thanks so much Joseph
totally worth watching just to see Bec's nature face! It was worth it though Bec.
The face's of Bec
❤ Bec, thanks for the laughs, and brwakingthe fantasy we could be a match (can totally go native, though camera gear takes special care). ❤ QLD too...despite the danger in the real wyld! Inreally did get some good laughs from this one Peter, tyvm
Thanks for watching
That has to be one of the best videos you have done, there is no studio lighting ,, and I love the old lens (m?)so it's not too sharp Bec goes from pissed off to perfect in 125/s at f1.4 so spot on and the results are so good I am just blown away. I would have bought her some old trainers and would not have got the shot well done.
Thanks so much
Enjoyed your photo session. Great results under difficult conditions.
Thanks 👍
Beck is awesome!!!!
You both are troopers .
Thanks
Poor Bec. Her face expression tells about her attitude very loud. But the result is awesome. Thanks, Peter, for showing another great video from a warm place (wherever you were then). It's bloody -30C here in Bashkortostan. And I bet that no one would agree to go outside for a photoshoot.
Cheers from freezing Bashkortostan
Thanks so much, hopefully the winter isn't too long
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer it'll be until April for sure 😁
I’d give an arm & a leg to be able to be in that river! Embrace the nature! 😹 awesome shots. Looks really great. ❤
Thank you
Happy holidays Peter and Bec muse extraordinary ,peace
Happy holidays
Many thanks for this new BTS video, I have certainly enjoyed it. That is an amazing location, clean water, light reflection, and full of trees and plants…. and very funny to see you both with your feet in the water.
@B: I died of laughter when you almost fell into the water! It would have been priceless seeing you wetted with water. After having seen this video, I would like to see you in a reality show there, in the jungle, with rivers, trees, plants, …; it can be called as: “How I became the Queen of the Amazons”.
@P: Your stability into the water reveals you past related to fishing; you have excellent stability skills, I really admire you; in a river, with slippery rounded stones, holding an expensive camera and lens, and giving explanations? That kind of learning doesn’t come from studying but from years of experience. In an environment like that I would not have lasted long standing, believe me.
@P: One of the things I have noticed, with photography in Nature is the fact that Nature sometimes steals the show, being so powerful the Models could be sent to a secondary level. I admire those photographs that, even thou they include Nature (background or context) the Model is the focus.
@P: From my point of view, one of the most difficult points in outdoor photography is to illuminate the eye sockets, because the light usually comes from above.
wow, for feeling not comfty, you did a great job Bec!
Thank you
I love how Bec has a sad/hate/grumpy face and then instant Model Face when Peter clicks a shot. Well I don't like nature much so there is that at least @bec . I did a River shoot with the Photo Studio group, the model was in the river, I was the only one that did not go in the River, I took all my shots from the bank. and Yes I got some cool cool shots. The model got about a million mosquito bites, and yet see went back to the river for a 2nd shoot a little later that day. I did use my SB800 speedlight on my Nikon, the part of the river we were in was very low and trees all around. 😂
It was all very entertaining, with a great location!
Thank you
We call this video "Bec gets a raise." Join us next week as we make a lovely portrait of Bec surrounded by snakes and alligators. Look at those eyes!
Lol :)
yeah needs some more on location videos like these cause that is what most photographers around here do cause a studio is not feasible for most of us in the states.
more coming
lol that was great, tell her the next river shoot will be in heels too
There would be too much bruising to photoshop out :)
I prefer to take photos without all the things I don't need . Natural light works for me. N the more I can learn about just using natural light . The better I be 😃
Yes natural light is the best
Thank-you for this Peter, I'm forced to shoot outdoors and with natural light quite often, so it's nice to watch you find the light you want, or are willing to accept for the shot. I'm looking forward later this Winter to do a shoot in the snow, which has it's own set of troubles when it comes to lighting. Several years ago I did a news shoot outside on a clear, bright day with snow everywhere, it was almost blinding. I found using the reverse side of my light disc (the collapsible ones) which had a gold back. The gold colour sucked away some of the snow's reflective properties leaving a more natural looking shot. This was just spur of the moment for a news piece but I want to experiment more with snow when I get the chance.
Bec, you look Stunning, as you always do whether engrossed in Nature, Captivating on a beach somewhere exotic or even just leaving bystanders awe struck in the Concrete Jungle!!!
If I don't get a chance before the 25th to say so, I hope you and your Families and Friends have a very Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year / Hogmanay!!! Take care, from the Great White North - Dave
Thanks heaps. I love shooting with snow because it creates a giant softbox. Merry Christmas to you & your family too Dave
Haha! Bec the expression on your face around the 4/4:30 ish mark says it all! Think the "nature" has to be a warm beach as we've see you on those numerous times and you seemed much more at ease. Peter - good info as usual. Know myself -yeeeeaaahhh I likely would have dragged lights into the river lol! I always over complicate things.
In the end it did come together!
Thanks
Hi Peter, I am a big fan of yours, thank you for sharing your knowledge in such an exciting way. You are one of the best things on RUclips. I love the humility and sincerity you have in your messages. Great Bec and Peter! I've been watching you guys for a while now and wanted to ask you a simple question. I see that in one of your latest videos you used the apo summicron 75mm f2 sl.
I know you mostly focus manual as I usually do, but the question is this last one too sharp?
Which one do you prefer the 75mm summilux m 1.4 or the 75mm summicron f2 sl . Thanks peter
The 75mm summilux m 1.4 lives on my SL2s but I still like the 75mm summicron f2 sl
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographerthanks!
Peter, I can’t believe you didn’t get hit! Sorry Bec I laughed so much at the faces you pulled, but like a real trooper you pulled deep. However Peter laughing so much at your discomfort whilst obviously struggling to move around should also be commented on!!! Well done guys and a great laugh here on a cold dull Scottish morning….❤
Thanks heaps glad you enjoyed it :)
A good laugh and i do recognize this, the difference up here in Sweden is, the water is just damn cold :)
hahaha! my god! that is sooo funny! :-) love Bec as always ... putting her in a jungle with littles creatures under water :-)
The best!
Find a proper swamp for Bec to sit in next time! 😂 Good stuff as always.
No chance she would go in a swamp :)
Great work Peter and Bec, but I was afraid that one of your several species of poisonous snakes was going to show up…yikes!!! Glad they were kept at bay and that it worked out so well
Thank you
Great video! I wish I'd had someone filming ME a few months back when I took a traveling model to my favorite little Nature Area and found it a bit wetter and mossier than usual. While the model nimbly jumped about, this photographer managed to bellyflop and slide down a rock outcrop. The drop underneath wasn't going to KILL me (maybe 6') but it definitely wasn't something I wanted to fall onto. Unfortunately, I had no traction on any hand or foot -- the only thing saving me from slipping further was the friction of my Prosperity Layer against the moss. The model managed to keep a politely straight face as I worked out that I'd have to use a humping motion with my stomach to inch up the boulder and back to where I could find some kind of handhold. Picture an over-sized manatee making stripper moves and you've got it about right. Did I mention that my model was gracious and awesome? I'm smiling now but at the time I was just imagining breaking an arm or leg and having to life-flighted out of the narrow gorge we were in. Upside -- didn't drop my camera, DID get some great shots in the end.
1 Face tells more then 1000 words, I laughed so hard 🙂
incredable, how Bec can change into a topmpdel, within a second wow
She's a bit special
Great Video
Glad you enjoyed it
Fun video!!
Thanks
Thank you, Bec, for working like a pro in an environment you were unhappy with. Thank you Peter for capturing the beauty of Bec and the environment through the scowl. I kinda wish Bec had fallen…not for the fall but for her reaction 😂
Lols :) thanks so much
Give Bec a fly rod, I’d by those pics. Lol
Awesome video as always. It's 32 degrees in Melbourne. How hot is it in QLD? 55?
Thanks, Brisbane QLD 30 today, Melbourne gets hotter and colder than QLD
That scowl!!! Lmao
The "I hate nature" looks Bec gives in the video followed by the supermodel stills evidence how talented you both are...
Thank you
Good afternoon, Peter. Cool video, as always. I saw a picture with Bec in your studio. (Red, now probably green color) May I ask how it is made? As I understand it, this is a photograph printed on plastic, with acrylic paint on top (or something else?) and varnished on top (or is it lamination)?
Thanks, it's a painting on canvas of one of my photos of Bec
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographercanvas without lamination on top?
@@ArthurAbramovPhoto no lamination
If eyes could kill, Bec's dagger eyes could have caused severe danger to Peter and far from urgent care. .lol
Bec and Peter -- to get that magical shot in the river, despite the crocs on the riverbank and the platypuses' (or is it platypi) just waiting for a bad fall on some rocks...tip of the hat to the dedicated artists, Peter, Bec !
Thank you, thankfully there were no crocs in this river
bec so beautiful
City Girl out in the wild. Hilarious expressions, Bec! But I imagine it’s not completely gone in the pics though. I somehow feel it’s not that relaxed compared to other shoots. Correct me if I’m wrong and interpreting too much. Greetz from Germany.
Qué mujer más fotogénica !!, me encantaría retratarte Bec
Sorry I know it's not nice to laugh at someone, but Bec looks just like bambi on thin ice.
Thanks for sharing.
No problem 😊 thanks for watching
Love it 😂
Thanks
This is a great video 😂I loved it ❤️
Thank you!! 😁
lets make this a series. Bec vs Nature ;)
Lol the wine bill would be too high :)
7:20, Bingo. Lovely
I love shooting in an around water but I have to wait until June for the water to warm up a bit. It requires a minimalist approach to gear and lighting, it forces the photographer to constantly evaluate the light, and you learn to quickly adapt while getting shots that make people stop scrolling and actually look at the photos. I have models wear sandals with a heel strap to get in place then we put the shoes on a rock out of frame if I can see them through the lens. I also never walk backward or move sideways and I never step on the big rocks. I can still feel the bruises from learning those lessons.
"Your face doesn't look attractive at all. " Peter going deep into his motivational grab bag.
Lol
Bec is so funny lol
If looks could kill!
that is not one "happy Bunny" in the river, lol....but thanks for your guidance and teachings Peter, regards from the UK.....i doubt she would like the weather here either.....lol
Thanks for watching!
You are very pretty Bec Even with a grumpy face!
She says thank you
There seems to be a difference of opinion regarding how much Bec likes nature ....🤔BTW ... There seems to be a couple of crocodiles just behind you Peter. Did you not notice them?
All love ❤️ too you both ❤️ from Cliff
Thanks Cliff
Very good videos, very instructive. Some water shoes would have helped. Greetings
Glad it was helpful!
Nice ten of skin Bec😉👍
Wow, you got there at the right time. Hope you’re out of FNQ and home in Vic
Yes back home now
