Great video! Ross is a Legend! He's been a long-term mentor of mine since I moved to Chamonix. He's very modest... he has actually skied nearly everything in the Mont Blanc Massif worth skiing. Great Guide also so you should for sure check him out if you are coming to chamonix. (P.s stoked my back made it into one of your videos! (skiing the Pain De Sucre b-roll. haha))
Adding another shout to the Ross Hewitt fan club! Having spent a couple of weeks being guided by Ross around some of the Chamonix areas finest slopes, I'd highly recommend anyone to do the same
where is Ross from originally? Really struggling to gage exactly what his accent is? I'm assuming it is an amalgamation of all the transient cultures that roll through the Cham valley every year.
@@jossbaldwin9725 That's funny - I spent the first part of the film trying to work it out as well. Either speaking French with a Scottish accent makes you sound Canadian, or the other way round. I'm going central Scotland with 25 years of Chamonix.
@@sollidproductions I do the same thing. I used to film and upload a few days later but I found it was forcing my editing and not allowing me to properly tell the stories of my hiking films. I was forced to do this after I filmed 50 episodes on 3 month road trip across america and I'm glad for it as my episodes are much better.
@@sollidproductions it literally gave the date as December 5th 2022 its not last years footage. It had been a couple weeks since they were riding so they had time to edit.
Nikolai is masterful in creating atmosphere, suspense (!), and expectation in his short movies, seemingly without even trying. His video editing is perfectly aligned with sound and the perfect music track. Most of his movies tell similar stories of camaraderie in incredibly beautiful alpine settings where danger and death lurk in the background, a rock, a slip, or a wrong turn away. His apparently simple recipe evolved rather quickly over time the ability to pull the viewer's emotional strings in unique ways. I see many commenters on these pages be equally enthralled as I am. Nikolai, thank you for your art.
Nikolai, I hate your channel, it prob has some of the best and most well made content with great personalities ive ever seen on youtube. SO HOW COME YOU ONLY HAVE 100k subs 😭 what is wrong with people?! Your channel is so slept on and I show it to everyone I know in hopes u blow up. heres hoping for a good 2023 injury free and filled with awesome runs ❤
Nikolai, what the fuck. 5:10-20 is literally some of the best ski videography I've ever seen and you're cranking these out in DAYS???? Huge props to you and your team. Jesus.
I have been watching your videos non stop the past few days and I can say you just became my favorite RUclipsr ever. There us just something in your videos that are so good ! Keep making us dream even more !!
@@Nikolai_Schirmer It's super weird that you are not receiving tons of attention with that quality, so maybe consider partnering up with someone equally good at marketing (not me)?
Hey Nikolai!!! I am just wanting to say that I love your content specifically, all my life ive been so into mountaineering and skiing and I didnt really think you could put them together living your dream and making a living off of it! You really have inspired me so much I am almost 17 and im pretty good but I would love to get even better to the point of good backcountry! I have always known I am doing something along the lines of the mountains and outdoors and the adranaline! You truly have locked in my dream watching your videos and I have had the most passion I have ever had in my life over something! You showed me that my dreams areant actually impossible so I cant thank you enough! Stay safe you wicked skiier much love Reed
I love the tension that is created in every episode, something that isn't always available with my hiking films and I'm not sure what to do about that as hiking doesn't usually have a steep descent in 30 seconds lol.
man you are truly the inspiration for me starting my freeride journey. I am only 14, but feel committed to this goal. It is so incredible that you have all these sponsorships for gear all supporting what you love. I also have a love for cinematography and love what you do. If you have any advice or anything to say about my goals, I would love to hear it.
I really enjoy your video. You bring your on soul into them and you deserve respect for that. Now that you are close to Chamonix, did you think about a classic steep skiing route ? Like Gervasuti, Mallory on aiguille du Midi or even couloir Couturier on aiguille Verte if the conditions are good ? Anyway enjoy your winter and thanks again for sharing.
I'd be super interested in having a guide for Chamonix, I live in the area but don't know enough about off-piste. Could I have more info for about this? Thanks a lot, incredible videos🤩
Great video, but please include more footage from the gopro as your going down like at 4.46. Its just so satisfying. Or make a separate youtube channel dedicated from that view.
As others have said before, this has a super fun story arch, fantastic skiing, amazing footage and great editing... and it was made it in a little more than two weeks?! Mad respect for you and the team!!
Hey man do you have any Ancestors that are from Germany or do you know anyone form germany because my Dads Family is also Called Schirmer?! Awesome video as always
im in chamonix now for 1 month but no idea what im doing... any instructors here willing to teach 1 adult 2 kids on one of the flat slopes in chamonix for 20 euros per hour.

The sound design of the bit starting at 4:40 is awesome, the music coming in at 5:05 hits so hard. Another great video!
Ryan Harris is a perfect music choice for that 🤞🏼 wonderful edit Niko! Love it.

Another great one! What a treat its been having regular Nikolai releases! :D Amazing job from Jonas as well, as always! God Jul!
Great episode. I'm surprised you didn't milk another turn or two on that open middle face! That line looked so fun.
