I appreciate the lack of gatekeeping when it comes to AEG ownership. As someone just coming into the GBBR sphere it sometimes feels a little elitist and so i appreciate you and the many members of the community who are very much not like that.
On the topic of the "cheap" GBBR, I would now suggest people to bridge the gap slowly. Most of the players already have a Glock (and I hope a VFC one), so I would suggest a SCW-9 PRO-G from Maruyama, and it bridges three of the question asked : - Glock Magazines compatibility : You have magazine for you pistol (which you just have and will play even if GBBR does not suit you), and the same stockpile can now work with a more "full fledged long replica"). Also the VFC glock mags are arguably the best glock magazines (I did not test the recent Gen 5 TM one though) - Cheap, entry level, very high quality GBBR : The SCW-9 is more or less the price of a mid level AEG, or any entry level WE replicas in term of pricing but has most of its internals steel OR reinforced with steels screws where it matters. - A replica that you can learn how it works, as the trigger group is one of an AR-15, and there is very few reasons for anything internally to break. And once people get a nack for this small, cheap platform, they can think investing into a larger one (AR, AK, FNC, whatever).
Where I live (Eastern Europe), I don't think there is any point buying a WE M4. Since you basically need to change out the fire control parts after a year or so and that point, you payed for a TM MWS, which is infinitely better in every way. And you don't need to change out anything beside a single spring. Sure, you can go fancy and change out a bunch of things, but you dont _need_ to.
I think the Maruyama would be an amazing replica for you to do a video on as it's a great balance of good design and budget pricing. IMO it's the best GBBR out of the box for less than $300
Speaking of cheap gbbr, currently Army Armament has released the g36c with steel trigger mechanism components, it is a copy of the WE system, only sort of with a complete ra-tech trigger mechanism... after replacing the bucking with the ML2021 MrHop, buying a few magazines (with the replica we get 2 pcs) and the replica is ready for play, preferably with 0.40g bbs, but 0.36g will also work. The magazines are dirt cheap compared to other GBBRs, and this is probably the cheapest GBBR replica currently available on the market and at the same time worth your attention.
I recently got a DE Noveske N4. And so far its treating me well. But they are fairly new in the market, and I don't really know what its going to do to me over time. I have a VFC Scar-H aswell, and its causing me a bunch of headaches, it shoots. But it feels like its eating itself alive... Time will tell, I don't really know what upgrades to get for the two. But the Noveske seems efficient, but lacks recoil, the Scar-h almost has too much recoil. Its loud to the point where it triggers my tinitus haha!
DE N4 was my 1st GBBR and it served me well. All it needs are the usual hop up and inner barrel upgrades AS WELL AS a new charging handle, preferably Angry Gun Ambis since the stock charging handle is made of soft and brittle metal. Too bad i sold it for the APFG Spear LT and the upcoming VFC FNC and i don't see any economical reason running 2 types of mags.
@@TheOperatorDelta mine seems to have some bolt bounce, do I just need a heavier buffer? Also, I have been looking at a maple leaf barrel and hop bucking, any suggestions?
I can vouch for the Lambda GHM9. Great little and inexpensive GBB, super fun to use, with some upgrades on the hopup and inner barrel it performs pretty decent for such compact gun. It's not the best gun for the cold weather, I haven't had problems with It's cycle but it tends to vent a lot of gas from the muzzle (which makes a "fireball" when paired with a flamer tracer) but still empties a full 50rds AAP mag. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the trigger weight, specially cause I am a TM guy. The GHM9 trigger is heavy, it's crisp but heavy and hard to spam fast when needed. Great videos and great content as always 💪
I have a Lambda GHM9, can't speak for everyone's experiences with it but from my own personal experience with it, I love it a lot and it's a pretty fun budget GBB option especially if you already own a VFC Glock and have a bunch of VFC Glock mags. It's super lightweight, it feels durable, my biggest issue is the bolt is a bit sticky but there's mods for that on RUclips that are very simple to follow. Id recommend it. No idea about performance in the cold tho as I live in Florida.
16:34-17:01 I'm in this clip and I am ashamed. I got a WE AK back when it was either them or a Gen2 GHK, and two WE HK416s back when my friends had the idea of starting a GBBR fireteam with mag interchangeability. (Two of them had WEs already.) Now I want to upgrade to VFC but if I end up getting back half of what I put into them, I'll be surprised. Also from what I've heard, the GHM9 has weak recoil springs.
thank you for answering my question on cheap gbbrs, I've had my eye on the Noveske N4 for a while and I may buy it whenever I get paid and when they get more in stock, I appreciate you for answering the question in such detail, I also plan on getting the APS Cam870 after watching your video on it, I really have been interested in gas airsoft guns for a bit and I am only now planning on getting into them so thanks again for answering
Very interesting content as always. Imo there are at least three other guns that could've been added to the cheap and good category. KWA mp9: everybody and their mother owns one. Sends BBS flying downrange 50m stock. All metal 48 rounds mags are sturdy af. Nozzle return spring breaks in the first mag but hey, it just go even without it, sear eventually needs replacement, and that's it.. WE Scar(maybe not so cheap?): great ootb. Goona have to deal with incosistent bolt catch eventually, that's it.. KWJ M4: this is the biggest airsoft mystery to me. This gat just go, sturdy parts, solid recoil, great shot consistency, sturdier controls...I've always thought of this gun as a sleeping gem.
Please do a video on the Lambda GHM-9! I just bought one recently on impulse, and while your dubious assumptions of its quality scare me I’d love to have your insights on the platform and mag recommendations.
The only flaw I see in GE with metal receivers are the bolt carrier, it tends to break, so only needs to replace it for a steel one, and an m4 from golden eagle can last for a very long. I know what Im talking about because Im a Golden Eagle tuner.
Another great video with lots of good insights! Personally, I understand airsoft is not a cheap hobby. So I prefer to save up more for the more reliable brands, rather than "budget" ones. This way I can fully enjoy airsoft with peace of mind!
I love ya XE but man you're gonna destroy the CVC market! I need one for my impression without spending $300! Love what you did because it isn't completely massacred and still looks retro.
life is too short to buy budget GBBRs... I've had enough of WEs already, the MP5s were not so bad to be fair, but the ARs are just waiting to wear parts down and misfeed ad infinitum, the G36C neve had so many issues besides just wearing down trigger mechs on me. If I had to start over/keep just one gun, I'd probably 'go big or go home' and go for the RATech EMG Noveske N4 GBBR, easily the best single piece in my collection, and it's 1100USD just for the gun in Taiwan, but, it is buttery smooth, has a phenomenal trigger and shoots accurately out to 70m with ease, and runs off GHK PMAGs. Buy once, cry once, learn from my financial ruin, fellow shooters...
Hey Explosive Enterprises, would you ever consider doing a full video on your NCR service rifle? I'm very curious about the wood furniture and what issues (if any) y'all have run into with that setup. Love your vids!
Re: Northeast UZIs, I've got the Vietnam limited edition of the MP2A1. I'm not 100% sure whether it's old style internals or the newer v3, but I might be willing to mail it out to you to take a look at if you were interested.
My online echo chamber seems to say that GHK's Aug and Sig 553 are their two least QC-problematic replicas. Hearing that you started your GBBR journey in earnest with the Aug makes me (selfishly) want to recommend/request your take on the 553. P.S. - Thanks again for the "Practical Gas Blowback" video. That really has been a (literal) game-changer for me.
Id love the vfc hk53, but somehow, the only shop here in the Netherlands that sells it, has the balls to sell it for 850 bucks... meaning... thats not... exactly... mid budget...
Great video, you should do a review on the Tanaka/KJW/King Arms M700 series of gas bolt action rifles, and maybe even the shell ejecting one. And maybe for the next Q/A, what is your take on those rifles? Thanks in advance, love the vids.
Wake up, new XE video dropped! As a question from me for maybe some day: any plans to show off more custom builds, like was done with the SPAS-12? I think custom build videos are interesting because XE's format and explanation of the build process gave me some decent insight on what can be done with mixed replica parts. I am actually attempting to build my own M1014 using a Maruzen M1100 and DE M56DL (for the body), although I'm having trouble figuring out how to fit things perfectly as the barrel doesn't seem to quite match up to the length of the magazine tube. I do wish there was more open information out there about this system and/or this kind of build but know it was mentioned that you (or XE in general) were "burnt out on Maruzens" so just seeing videos on other custom builds in general would be pretty cool.
Great video, thank you for your effort. What about pistol conversion kits as a budget way to get into GBBR? I can think of Action Army AAP-01 for example, with the AA folding stock and front grip it will cost you about 160 USD (here in Czech Republic), you can also add longer barrels, better hop units etc... Sure, it is still not "real" GBBR, but the feel, range and accuracy could be pretty close. What do you think about it?
From what I've heard, it's a KWA MP9 but instead of chewing through trigger parts, it chews through nozzles. Also, the frame is fragile and prone to cracking.
what do you think about the new system used in the E&L T191 ? on the paper it have all the benefits from all the differents systems: realism of the gbbr, usability in cold environements from the hpa and cheap aeg magasins
Considering cheaper gbbrs: can you, please, say what do you think about kjw m4 v3? It's cheaper than ghk, vfc etc. but from my experience it's been running fine for half year (my first and only gbbr for now). Pros: runs just fine in 15°C+, aeg handguards compatibility, mags not leaking (stanags), really robust mags. Cons: the heaviest mags in gbbrs, proprietary hop up, almost none tuning parts.
do you still the OEG optics used in the Street Sweeper video, if so you would be willing to go over it? There's so little information of how either the armson or Single point operate.

Any recommendations on GBB M4 Magazines compatible with King Arms Gen1 M4 GBBR's? They all leak and they tend to fail right away. I believe the King Arms M4 is based on WA system and I keep hearing Evike sells new updated mags but I have been duped before.

I recently bought a FN-15 (M16A4) and I’m enjoying it, don’t know how long it’s gonna last it was $300 bucks lol, so I’m going to find out how garbage it really is.
what's your opinion on the Kwa ak-74m gbbr? personally i own one and i want to remove the half travel system. but i haven't put it in the field yet so i cant give a honest opinion.
I appreciate the lack of gatekeeping when it comes to AEG ownership. As someone just coming into the GBBR sphere it sometimes feels a little elitist and so i appreciate you and the many members of the community who are very much not like that.
The way he one handed that pkm has convinced me that hes actually just a gorilla in disguise
For real lmao, I had to rewind to make sure I wasn't seeing things I was so caught off guard
If it's the AEG version that is currently available, it's only about 10lbs. Nearly all of my gas guns are either 5 to 10lbs each, so this is normal.
The PKM is actually one of the lightest GPMGs to see active service. This airsoft replica in the video is only 15.8lbs without the box mag.
Real PKMs weigh in around 16.5 pounds so yeah not heavy at all compared to a real 240B at 27.1 pounds.
Honestly I'd love to see an entire video just on the topic of Golden Eagle GBBRs
same here
My local store have them for sale for 170 USD
that'll be an hour long rant
And other brands
3:45 - I actually didn't know about the grub screw... Very nice to know. Thank you!

Marksman IX PCC AR could be one choice, uses VFC Glock mags.
THIS
SCW9 performance is ridiculous and extremely cheap for the price it offer
Plus there's a version come with suppressor
And down the gbbr rabbit hole you go 😁
Victimless crime
