Cline is a virtuoso guitarist - jazz fusion genius. I saw Wilco 2 days in a row after they released this album. Turns out Cline had been loaned Duane Allman's guitar for these dates. He is immensely respected. Wilco is a tremendous band. Dig into their catalog. Wow! Wilco is one of the tightest live bands you'll hear.

Man, the music you bring up, Damn. I had forgotten a lot of these bands. You are a first class guy. Thank you

If you love a good Wilco guitar solo, you have to check out the album version of the Wilco song “At Least That’s What You Said”. Starts off very slow and quiet, but then the guitar solo comes and blows your mind!

John - What a gift submission. I thoroughly enjoyed this new addition to my listening adventures.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Nels Cline is one hell of a guitarist. He's been playing that 1959 Fender Jazzmaster guitar for decades. He purchased it from Mike Watt (bassist from San Pedro post-punk band The Minutmen). The tone he gets on that old thing is amazing.

Beautiful. Saw Derek Trucks join them on this as an encore in a show in St. Augustine, FL.

Junior Brown - Guit-Steel Blues 11 mins of pure class.

Ridiculously fantastic band that is a must see live. They are absolutely mesmerizing and cover many genres of music, effortlessly. One of my fave's is "Remember the Mountain Bed" from the Mermaid Ave album that was a collab with the lads, Billy Bragg and The Woody Guthrie Library. Look it up, it's a very interesting project.

I saw Wilco perform last October, though I was not much familiar with them. Like you, I generally enjoyed the sound and the musicianship, but Nels Cline (I looked it up as soon as I got home) really blew me away.

Such an amazing band!!! Thanks for sharing your reaction!I HIGHLY recommend Jeff Tweedy - Sunken Treasure: Live in the Pacific Northwest. It's starts out with Tweedy solo and over time the live performances feature more and more of the full group... I've watched it dozens of times over the years.

Taj Mahal - Bacon Fat featuring guitarist Jesse Edwin Davis is such a great laid-back vibe.

Jesse Ed plays wonderful lead on Jackson Browne's "Doctor My Eyes." He was a much-loved, well-respected guitarist. So sad that he fell victim to the scourge of heroin.

Prince - Purple Rain - Live At American Music Awards 1985
Hard to beat, considering it is live and televised. Virtuoso performance.

Wilco is the greatest band I know fronted by a homeless person. I kid. Tweedy is a genius. But NOBODY tops Nels Cline. ;)

Cortez the Killer (Neil Young cover) - LIVE (2000) Built to Spill
The 20:30 length (I assume) makes it a little too long for a Harri reaction.😮
