One of the most underrated films of all time. One of my favorites. I saw it at the theater when it first came out and it is still a top three favorite.
I always liked how this movie ended. This song is the perfect song to end the movie and lift our spirits. We must never forget our brothers and sisters who served in Vietnam and served our country in all our past wars
I served five years and four months in the Navy, from August, 1977 to December, 1982. Sometime in 1983, or '84, I rented this movie, "Uncommon Valor" and two friends came over to watch it with me. One had served three or four years in the Army, the other served three or four years in the Air Force. At the end of the movie, all three of us had tears in our eyes.
Totally understandable since you guys were actually there! Hope you are all able to move on after such a traumatic time. War is horrendous for all, with no winners. May we pray for peace. A great, meaningful movie and an awesome song. As someone mentioned above, they don't make them like this anymore. So many movies these days that are absolute trash.
When I was seventeen the draft ended so I didn't have to go. When this movie came out a girl I knew wanted me to take her to this movie. After the movie ended she sat crying and crying. The manager came to remove us. It's then she told us that her father had been killed in Vietnam She said that it was the first time she cried for her dad as she was little when he died
When I first saw this movie, it did something to me. I felt it pierce my heart and soul in a way I’ve not felt before. As a army veteran, yeah, it teared me up. Not just the movie … but the Song. Remembrance, Love, and Hope to all you warriors of Peace.
At least now when I watch this, I can now cry instead of getting drunk. Lord help me, I will take the LOVE I feel for the men I fought along side. To my grave. I miss them!!
Thank you brother for your willingness to give it your all an I thank you for the men you stood next to an being there for the ones who did give there all.. you guys are heros to me an I have nothing but respect and admiration for all vets.
I loved this movie as a kid and watched it religiously with my older brothers. I have 5 of them! The best POW movie ever made!!! After all these years this song and the beginning of the movie, makes me tear up!!! God bless our vets!!!
In the past few years, I've lost my father, my mother and one of my brothers. I too, would give ANYTHING to have them back in my life...even if just for a moment.
I come here often to listen and remember the guys I served with and the friends who are gone. Vietnam vets were treated poorly, the ones who came home. I love this song.
We veterans of today thankyou for your service and are sorry for what you had to endure at home. From what i've learned from others and reading about that era, things seemed pretty different than what they should've been. Different in not so good ways.
My children serve in both USAF and USN and I thank you for your service. You deserve the respect and support of all those who are reaping the fruits of your sacrifice🙏
Me too brother as a matter of fact every time I listen to this tears begun to fall from my eyes for every soldier that went and fought in that hellish war this is for them we salute to all you brothers we will never ever forget them because of their bravery and courageous sprit to serve this country peace to all of you .
Yep when McGregor tells him on the chopper that Frank died saving his life that day and Rhodes hugs him and breaks down in tears is tough not to tear up ourselves. I’ve seen it at least 50 times and it still gets me... a testament to the movie and Hackman’s performance.
My dad was in 101st airborne in Vietnam 69-70. He lost his cousin over there. A little Vietnamese girl selling candy on side of dirt road and basket was booby trapped with grenade wired up. Both the little girl and my dads cousin blew up. RIP to both my dads cousin and little girl. She probably didn’t even know what she was doing too young. The Vietcong probably told the girl to go sell some candy to soldiers she probably didn’t even know it was wired to explode
Our kids loved the 80’s too. Thank god my husband failed his physical for the Viet Nam draft in 1969 or we wouldn’t have had our kids. My heart goes out to all who lost loved ones to yet another senseless war. Will anyone lead us to peace, at last?
My dad is a Vietnam vet. We would watch this movie at least three times a year well into the early 90’s. He would never talk about it but you could tell it’s something that affected him till this day.
If a man were to know the end of this day's business 'ere it come. But it suffices that the day will end and then the end be known. And if we meet again, well then we'll smile. And if not... then this parting was well made. Such a great movie.
Nobody understands this anymore, this is the greatest movie/song ever! If you played it now, those who disagree would call you sexist or gender racist. It's a shame. In the name of David Lee Roth, WERE HAVE ALL THE GOOD TIMES GONE!
We all scatter after our service but we all come full circle through any channels we always stand by our brothers. USMC Kilo Co. I need my brothers, they'll find me.
I'd go back to the sandbox or back to North Korea to bring home my fellow Marines. I'd quit my job tomorrow and NEVER look back, and I make good money. But the brotherhood I was blessed with means a hell of a lot more to me then money. Get some devil dogs and bring them all home. Until the last one is home... Semper Fidelis, Captain T, U.S.M.C.
This movie inspired me to look into joining the Army when I was in 7th grade (2001). It played back to back in TBS Superstation back then. Here’s to getting accepted into the Warrant Officer/Helicopter Pilot program hopefully next year. Also, Happy Memorial Day 2020, Everyone!
I served five years and four months in the Navy. When I die, I want this song played at my funeral, along with The Ballad of The Green Berets, I'm Proud to be An American, God Bless America, and Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing - the long version of the song; not the short version in all church hymnals; the long version as Robert Robinson wrote the song in 1757. They can also play The Living Years, by Mike and the Mechanics.
Wow. What a time. What a movie - what a song!!!! The only thing that kept my husband out of that war was migraine headaches. Bless all of you who fought, returned or died. May peace be with you. And I'm so sorry that war was ever started!
Remember seeing this in 2002 on AMC I was 13 then I am now 31 still like and watch this movie much respect goes out to veterans.and first responders such as myself 🇱🇷🤠👍
It is better to do the right thing for 80 minutes than the wrong thing for 80 years. Thank you to my brothers who fought for the greater good of humanity despite the unfair labels cast upon you. You will stand tall forever!
This was a horrible war. It was a draft war so guys who didn’t have a desire to fight were drafted and forced to go. Many “ died in their sleep” which is shorthand for drug overdose. Senseless like all wars started and fought to make money and be powerful. No young man should ever have been forced to fight this war. This was no different than Dick Cheney’s war when Bush was our pretend prez. All for money, control and power, but mostly money. Despicable. Hopefully these men are at peace in death. They should never have died in such a way. RIP brothers. You’re not forgotten.
What an awesome way to honor those who have served or are still serving for our country. This one is for the fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom. Thank you to all our veterans where ever you are.
They had this movie on TV tonight, no tears but there were a few scenes where I chocked up pretty good. Thank you Lord, while I certainly will never forget, and I've only gone to 3-4 Unit Reunion's and then my eyes water, I DO LOVE THEM !!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful song. I never feared men who were bigger than me as long as I had space to move but I learned that fast big men who were light on their feet, were men to be avoided.
Hey all you motherf..... politicians around the whole who never loose a loved one in combat zone created for your own greed.take a good long listern to the lyrics from this true heroes tribute. To all those fallen men and women who have been forgotten not by your country or people but your leaders past and present live strong in heaven you are and always will be remembered for your sacrifice.
Lyric: We're all startin' to feel The pain we endure. Makes us wonder what in the hell We're all fightin' for. A decade of nightmares, Long years of tears. Who can take the injustice? They happened all right. But those boys were left behind at the end of the war for political reasons. Read the Book 'kiss the boys goodbye '. It was published in Canada in the early 90s cos no American publisher would touch it.. and FYI..Bobby Garwood was a hero, not a traitor.

This song brings back many memories. I wish I could dance with such carefree abandon. There were men left behind, 100s of them. Satellite photos, eye witness accounts, all tell of Americans leaving images in paddy dikes, on the ground in stones...walking K's, images of pleading and signs that meant "Come for us". The CIA, Pentagon, and all those that knew they were in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and did nothing are shamed in disgrace for their non action. I'm weeping as I write this. Our fathers, uncles, brothers......
Yes. America's dirty little secret that no one wants to admit, and probably most don't know about. I can't imagine knowing that my country left me behind for good. I also can't believe how John McCain blocked efforts to investigate the pow situation although had no problem going with Kerry to go and find remains way years later and the deal that Nixon and Kissinger cut.
Please, don't ever take this video down
This song always made me emotional, sailor dancing by himself in that sunset was priceless!!
Rest in peace Patrick Swyaze and Fred Ward✝️
May Sailor dance forever…

It's a great film

Good storytelling and script but also good character building that made you believe you (the audience) were with them at the end

Lyric:
We're all startin' to feel
The pain we endure.
Makes us wonder what in the hell
We're all fightin' for.
A decade of nightmares,
Long years of tears.
Who can take the injustice?
Who can get past the fears?
And true hearts of courage,
Even in a world turned rotten.
Those precious hearts are gone,
But they're never forgotten.
I believe that all good deeds of men will never fall.
They live on forever,
Forever standin' tall.
I believe that all good deeds of men will never fall.
We're all brothers in the night,
Reaching out for something right.
There are dark, evil forces
That hide behind masks.
And to right all the wrongs
Is an impossible task.
Yet at a certain time,
And in a certain place,
Man can redeem
Mankind's disgrace.
The courage of our past
Will lead to peace at last.
Even after war so rotten,
So many hearts are gone, but not forgotten.
I believe that all good deeds of men will never fall.
They live on forever,
Forever standin' tall.
I believe that all good deeds of men will never fall.
We're all brothers in the night,
Reaching out for something right.
We're all brothers in the night.
It's our time, please, let's unite.
Oh, I believe, I believe, I believe,
The courage of our past
Will lead to peace at last.
Even after war so rotten,
So many hearts are gone but not forgotten.
I believe that all good deeds of men will never fall,
And live on forever,
Forever standing tall.
I believe that all good deeds of men will never fall,
And live on forever,
Forever standin' tall.
I believe, I believe,

I believe, I believe,

I believe that all good deeds of men will never fall,
And live on forever,
Forever standin' tall.

Reaching out for something right.
We're all brothers in the night.
It's our time, please, let's unite.
