      @@MarkReese @fuge511 I do not understand C1. Why wouldn't opening a checking/savings help? Why would having one hard pull in six months be grounds for a denial when you have 3 months of $20k in savings with C1, and an 800 plus credit score and 1% utilization? And if C1 needs to think they can make money off you but you have $ in a C1 checking account, they could either interpret that as being able to make money off you by paying less interest than top banks and T-Bills or not being able to make money off you because you won't carry a balance. And if I get denied for Venture X, I will withdraw from C1 savings, cancel $95 Savor card, uninstall Capital One Shopping extension and move to Amex which means that C1 will make NO money off me.

    Nice video but you are wrong about "bucketed" cards(especially with good credit) never getting a credit limit increase. If the card is being used regularly with no issues like late payments, returned payments, etc...Cap1 will give credit limit increases. HOWEVER(especially with fair credit)the increases will be tiny a lot of times. Like $100 increases seem to be common. But bucketed cards can also get increases of $500, $1000 at times. But they aren't gonna grow too much as a bucketed card.

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  8 месяцев назад +2

      Could be. I've also received data points from people who get 0 increases no matter what. Even with product changes, Capital One takes an account-by-account approach. It seems like a handful of their 'rules' are not universally applied.

  • @TheUsflow
    @TheUsflow 8 месяцев назад +1

    Confused as to why you say 0 inquiries/opened cards in the last 6 months 0/6 rule but the terms say "I have applied for a Capital One credit card 2 or more times in the last 30 days". Another comment below was that it is now 0/3. 6 months is a long time to go without an inquiry and there is opportunity cost to waiting. Also, any thoughts on the newish Venture X preapproval tool, and whether opening a 360 savings account would help? Finally, how should we answer the questions about paying off balance and balance transfer checks?

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  8 месяцев назад +3

      1. The terms about having not applied for a C1 card are separate from having 0 inquiries (from all issuers). Since C1 tends to not like seeing moderate to high inquiry counts, I was simply stating that I'd personally want to avoid applying from all cards from all issuers for 6 months to clear up my report a bit.
      2. No insights about the pre-approval tool.
      3. No data to suggest a banking relationship helps.
      4. I don't know if there's a "bad / good / better" way to answer the questions about balance transfers. I just said 'no.'

    • @TheUsflow
      @TheUsflow 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@MarkReese I just don't understand. If the 0/6 rule was in place, that would make it more logical for the terms to state "I have applied for a Capital One credit card ONE or more times in the last 30 days" instead of "I have applied for a Capital One credit card TWO or more times in the last 30 days" which seems to give leeway for ONE Capital One application in the last 30 days, nevermind 6 months. And haha don't they realize that many many people want to build out the famous Duo?

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  8 месяцев назад +3

      I would like to add that I did have a 5-year history with 3 Credit cards and a Car loan (Car loan I paid off before my bankruptcy) with Capital one where I always made my payments on time until my financials went haywire. all of the cards had 5000 limits and were all maxed out before I filed for bankruptcy on them, and all 3 accounts were charged off.

      I've seen data points of people saying that Capital One allows that, but I can't back it up with my own experience as I haven't tried it.
