It's about a book review affair from 2009. Madhu wrote a book and Karan cut out large chunks of it (and Madhu alleges that he didn't even read the whole thing). Madhu still probably has a grudge against Karan for this.
Google it up if you don't take my word.

Since I had no prior opinion on any of these two people I started with thinking Karan was the bad guy here but as the interview progressed it started to settle on me that he's a journalist and people don't tell him things, he takes it out of them. He's doing his job by speaking the truth. However it was such an enjoyable watch because two people were discussing their wildly different povs without anyone raising their voice in the most elegant manner possible. Was a breath of fresh air as a departure from the modern podcast system where just about anyone with a mic can call themselves an interviewer. 🤧

Adnan Dehlavi Thapar used to do these frivolous face to face interviews with famous people, which were far from intellectual or political, that’s why Madhu even calls him a “talk show host” because he would only ever talk to the “famous” people and personally I have never seen him do any ground reporting for poor people or people who indeed suffer. In a sense all he has has ever been is Simi Garewal with a little more controversy due to political tinges he adds here and there, and with that kind of experience of a chat show host who only did sensationalism he really doesn’t deserve to be a veteran political journalist which he has tried to project very clearly in his book.

My biggest takeaway from this interview was exactly what @KaranThapar_TTP said during this interview about the audience thinking that they're fighting like little children. Damn right. Here's more, I think the interview questions were, at best, subpar. A few other observations:
    1. She's obviously just trying to malicious and vindictive
2.There’s no harm in marketing yourself, in fact to Karan’s point, every person at some level is always marketing themselves. She talked to him about being out of touch with the realities of India but let's take a step back for a minute; the society we live in today, especially with the influx of social media, it's all about marketing oneself. We're all doing it, all the time.
3.Being groomed and well-dressed, in my opinion, is critical no matter who you are (if you can afford it, of course). If you think that being well turned out is a sign of weakness or you think if you are well groomed the world won't take you seriously, I beg to differ. Our leaders, especially, should be well groomed. After all, they're representing our nation on a global platform.
4.Re: Pawan Varma, she said every time a politician or anyone has to remind you that something is confidential or off the record, they would never speak with you. That's just PR 101 - “NOTHING IS OFF THE RECORD.” If a politician or anyone can’t remember that, then they simply shouldn’t be talking to the press.
    5. About Arnab, that was just such a lame question.
6.The moral code/Ram Jethmalani: If you think Karan is as unkind as you’ve made him out to be and doesn’t accord his guests certain decencies, it’s really ironic, because you (@MadhuTrehan) just did the same thing to him during this interview. Emotions and facts are two very different things.
    7. Elastic morality: As Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Schlegel once said, "Where there is politics or economics, there is no morality."
Overall, I thought this was a fatal endeavor to be controversial. It just seemed like she was trying way too hard. #epicfail

Well here's the thing, all above things you've pointed out would have been legitimate observations had this interview been done to be percived in the literal sense. It is rather obvious from the tone, content and format of the interview that is supposed to serve solely entertaining purposes.
