For YEARS I tried to find the awesome crisp white shirt with zero luck and a lot of wasted money. Then one day I found out I should have been checking out baby blue linen shirts instead. So according to my personal experience, I’d tell you to reconsider the color as well and not just texture and silhouette
Same not finding a white shirt that suits me. I found a gauzy cream and heavier linen shirts in chocolate brown and navy blue that I can wear with white tee shirts or tanks. White shirts are gone.
This was very helpful. I often struggle over whether to buy a new blazer or a turtleneck or "insert basic wardrobe item here", but I continually remind myself that I have never liked turtlenecks, look terrible in crew neck tees, and if it is cold enough to wear a blazer, I will wear a jacket or cardigan. Yet I am always tempted by the siren sound of versatile "stylish" basics.
💯 agree that you need to be true to your personal style. We are all unique and wear what is truly you rather than try to wear that it's really you but because it's looking nice on someone else you think you should wear it as well.
Thank you so much for this. After several years of following all the style advice in order to find/create my own style, I have slowly begun to admit that I personally don't like or feel comfortable in a crisp white button up shirt. I was going to scrap the idea altogether, until I realized that I love my soft, drapey, denim-look shirt, and I get compliments all the time on it. And now here you are validating my idea that I can choose a buttoned shirt that suits me, not just the classic essential!
Love your videos, Alyssa. I’m a fan of blazers and moto jackets, but I’ve stopped buying button downs because I don’t wear them. They look wonderful on you and a lot of women, but I just don’t like them on me. I’m also completely over the oversized blazer. That was the style in the 80s, but one of the great things about getting older is that I have the confidence to embrace or reject trends. Thanks for stating that “essentials” are different for everyone!
I have been hanging on to blazers I hated for so long because I was convinced it was a must if I wanted a basic classic fashionable wardrobe. You have set me freeeeeeee
Yes, it’s so game-changing to expand upon what our version of an “essential” is and customize it to our own needs! For example, I’m short and narrow with sharpness in my frame & super structured and tailored tops and jackets feel so harmonious on me. My girlfriend, on the other hand, is taller with broad shoulders and she looks so chic and elegant with flowier unconstructed silhouettes that would just make me feel sloppy!
Recently YT recommended a new YTuber to me. So I watched, they stated just about everything I wear is out of date and I should throw it out, "get rid of it"!! Included in this video were v neck tops; skinny jeans; cigarette pants; flares; ballet flats; flat soled knee length boots; loafers; maxi and midi skirts/dresses and the list went on 😳 Needless to say they had a small following (a few thousand subscribers). However, then another popped up as a recommendation, who has over 1 million subscribers, doing almost the exact same thing! After watching these two videos I could certainly understand why people do get completely confused about what they 'should' be wearing or have in their wardrobe...then there is Alyssa, who makes everything come back into focus. You truly are a breath of fresh air, no more wandering into the world of trend driven YT for me! No matter how many subscribers they do or don't have. Thank you for being so grounded and realistic Alyssa and consistently encouraging us to shop our closet and experiment with what we already have and remain mindful when adding to our wardrobe 😊💗
I just don’t take most fashion YTs seriously, they have no art, fashion or image training and just think their own style is best for everyone. For example, I’m sick of flat-chested teenagers telling me that wrap dresses will flatter my large bust, there is never enough fabric in them to cover a real bust like mi e, they know nothing.🙂
Everybody who says to get rid of classic pieces like cigarette pants, ballet flats, flat soled knee-length boots; loafers; maxi and midi skirts/dresses, etc, clearly, doesn't know what they are talking about. I mean, only somebody very young and/or not aware of how fashion like to repeat itself and how vintage is getting more and more popular, would say nonsense like that. Those naive souls following such advices will next season find themselves with clothes that they look obsolete, wondering why they have nothing to wear and why they are always short on money. And let's not think about the piles of waste they produce every year.
@@elalogar7340 Sorry to say it was a woman who stated she was a personal stylist, she was in her early 60s. If it were some teen YTuber I wouldn't have been shocked or commented here. She was making her recommendations for "mature women" her words not mine. I thought it was ridiculous too.
@@kimberlyperrotis8962 I don't listen or follow this advice either but some do. @@katem3961 Really? That's even worse. There are some well known personal stylists who have this kind of narrative, but only because their clients are celebrities. Alyssa, I thank you so much for showing not only different body types but also ages when you so the example photos. I'm over 60 but still love looking chic, and I continue to learn when it comes to fashion. This was a wonderful video as you broaden the categories and take the essentials out of the expected. The button up shirt part was especially enlightening. I love the idea and look of a crisp white shirt but actually hardly ever reach for it, daunted by the ironing and potential for staining. Instead, I live in my loose linen shirts in summer. Both are light blue, one icy, the other less so, and I'm obsessed with them. So there it is, the difference: they drape loosely, aren't precious (i.e. I'm totally fine when therm looking wrinkly) and make me feel cool. I recently thrifted a tencel blouse for shoulder seasons and also own a Lyocell denim shirt I frequently wear. Sooooo, long story short, I think I may have to let go of my fantasy self and declutter those 2 crisp shirts still hanging in my closet. "What if" makes it hard to do, but it may be time....Thanks for helping me through that thought process, and sorry for the long, rambling message. 😊❤
And same. I have several crisp white shirts and don't wear them. If I do, I feel stuffy and huge. My Lyocell shirts are flowy and drapey, and look way more flattering on a tall body.
What you said about the shirts spoke to my soul❤!I always found classic shirts stiff and cold but it's been some years now that I have built quite a collection of soft blousy shirts in patern and chambray, not a single white! Great for layering too😉!
I love how you emphasize finding your own *personal* essentials - for me that definitely does NOT include a button up shirt in any shape, form, size, material, or color. I’ve tried 10,000 of them and never, ever feel happy in the silhouette. Part of finding your essentials is letting GO of a whole category even when it’s on ALL the essential lists!!! 😆 Some of my personal essentials are striped tops, pea coats, crossbody bags, and ballerina flats ❤
I’ve never managed to make a button shirt work, but this year I tried a blouse with more of a drape, like you suggested, and I like it! A racer jacket is my favourite essential.
You totally solved my problem with a button shirt. Holy crap. 🤯🤯 why didn’t I think of looking for a drapey fabric rather than a stiff classic shirt ??? I’m embarrassed to admit I’m so dumb about this!! 😅😅😅 thank you!!
I used to have a few blazers when I worked in an office but the just do not work with my current outdoors casual life. Instead I love cropped things, denim jackets, and hip length longer outdoor wear jackets. I also love puffer jackets as you can dress them up or down.
This is such a great video! I always tried blazers and button-ups and didn’t like either on me. Watching YT channels like yours, Christina Mychas (?), and Emily Wheatley has taught me a lot. Now I really like button ups. I still can’t figure out blazers, but the good news is I can still learn.
Okay, I think I'm ready to sell my expensive white crisp button up shirt. It's been sitting in my closet for 3 years and I kept it because my brain told me it was an essential I needed! I wear my baby blue drape-y linen shirt all the time. It's much more me and is my true essential! Thanks for the video!
Love this. I have struggled with essential items. The little black dress is not my colour, the pencil skirt doesn't look good on me, the wrap dress is not complementary. I have just figured it out and gone my own way.
Great idea of button up for all just change up material. I have wide shoulders (inverted triangle) so structured shirts have to be massive to fit me. After I watched this video I picked up gauze earlier this year and I have used it all the time. I’m going button up all the way now. I got a hand me down chambray, fabulous now.
Thanks for talking about the fabric of button-down shirts. I'm petite and a bit busty, and stiffer fabrics do not work on me. But also, drapey fabrics aren't good because they emphasize my chest. What I really want is to find that smooth, light-weight menswear cotton, soft but not drapey. With my size challenges, I have to try things on, not order online, and there aren't a lot of shopping opportunities around me. Challenges all around! :)
Love this. Personally, as much as I look for the perfect blazer for me, I am starting to realize, that I really just don't like wearing them for the most part. I have just never liked the feeling of competing fabric inside the sleeve. So, I am focusing on vests!
I think the trick about interpreting essentials for me has been not to take things too literally - so a crisp white button down is a crisp white pop over shirt with a mandarin collar. But generally I'm not a button down kind of girl, a granddad collar, is more my thing, and usually in any other colour than white. A blazer is something I wear, but being petite I have to be careful, so I tend to go for cropped styles, and never oversize. My denim choices are changeable, but a mid to dark tone straight leg is a classic for me.
great video Alyssa. I love button down and dress on the feminine/romantic side. I also have a large bust combined with narrow shoulders so the silk and satin button downs are wardrobe staples to me. Thank you for your tips regarding blazers and denim too. I love blazers but due to the same issue as with the shirt, I always need to tailor mine
I have the same shape, so I have to size up to fit my bust, but the shoulders are always huge. I swear they keep making the shoulders on clothes wider and wider!🙂
I’ve finally decided to stop buying for my fantasy life but for my real. While I love blazers, button up shirts, and skirts, I don’t wear them often. I’m a flight attendant and want clothes that travel well and are fairly casual but can be elevated with an accessory. It’s a work in progress. 😀
Great analysis of basics and how to tweak them to create your own versions. I do like blazers, but I get a lot of wear out of both a vintage, leather blazer and a denim blazer for different spin on them.
You know watching this video today was so timely, I have been editing my closet because as much as I get " holding onto classic pieces" because fashion is cyclical... Uhm.. the reality is I don't wear half of my closet. I live in a desert climate and I don't need multiple outerwear. So. I got rid of several turtlenecks, and boots . I did keep some of course for those special occasions but it feels really great to pare things down.
Thank you. I have been watching fashion videos for a while and just can’t bring myself to buy the white button down shirt. I have broad shoulders and smaller waist. Just can’t live in those shirts. I have been considering silk- do now I’ll pursue that. 🤗
Definitely consider the color before you invest in a silk shirt. I keep trying to make a white button down work and decided to go with one with more drape. I found one in Tencel and LOVE the fabric, but it still hangs on my rack unworn.
This was sooooo helpful! I’d love a pt2 to this video. I love the look of a blazer but they just don’t work on me I always lean more toward a long cardigan I feel validated now. Lol
Love your style. Hard to dress stylish in Phoenix, just so hot for most of the year. I have three months I can actually wear a blazer and I love them. Love a crisp white button up !
Thank you! Good tips. I really wish that I could wear a moto jacket. I’ve tried many on and not found one that wows me. I also need fairly unstructured blazers. I’ve no idea why. But now I only buy clothes that I love when I try them on.
Great video as always! I love a good button down and own many 😂 plus I love a great blouse and blazer. Though I’m retired now I still love these basics and wear them every chance I get with denim. The fit is so integral to how they look and feel, its put together while still being really comfortable
Thank you Alyssa the content is very useful. About bottom up shirt how can you keep yours as white even if you have it for long time. Mine have make up on the collard that I can’t remove even If I take care of my clothes? Any cue?
The oversized shirt style is also great for those with wider mid body or curvy structure, especially when longer and can be styled with leggings or slim pair of pants/ denim! Also I have done away with the tucking because that works better for slim women. Adding a belt can polish up an untucked shirt with a pair of black tight jeans or leggings. My style, my rules! More comfortable I am, more confident and stylish I feel.
I adore a silk button-front shirt, especially with long sleeves for year-round wear. I just got beautiful safari-style (two chest pockets and epaulettes) ones, one in beige and one in khaki, from Lily Silk, they have a beautiful suede-like nearly matte finish. (I also got the dresses in the same style and colors). I prefer these more casual finishes/weaves and styles than shiny charmeuse ones with fancy details, which feel a bit formal. Silk is so comfortable and drapey and doesn’t need ironing, so I wear these much more than my cotton ones, which need a ton of ironing to look decent. Once one starts wearing silk, other fabrics feel annoying, silk is addictive!
For years I owned a classic, crisp white button up. It ended up in my wardrobe - unworn. Then I found a white button up in a flowy material AND a striped stretchy material on the wrists! 🤩 I love and wear it👌😊
Loved this video Alyssa! I love blazers which I wear with T shirts, camisoles, or thin sweaters. And I do love crisp button down shirts, but only in stripe, because, a crisp white button down shirt does not flatter me at all. 😂😂😂
Fantastic, informative video. I had that same love/hate relationship that you described with button-ups, and the advice on varying the type of fabric and cut is spot on. I would also suggest varying the collar style. Turns out that the traditional stand-up collar wasn't comfortable for me, so I started getting shirts with band collars or a lay-flat lapel type of collar and it made all the difference. Shawl style collars/lapels work as well. Great advice all around - I love this type of video!
I used to love crisp cotton or linen white shirt. But I got tired of the need to wash it after just one wearing(if not, the stain is hard to remove). Now I wear flannel plaid shirts that hide dirt and stain better. I have a lot of blazers and 2-piece pant or skirt suits but I don’t wear any now because I am retired. I haven’t touched my leather outerwear for over 5 years (slowly selling them). Now I wear a thin poly filled puffer or puffer waist because it is weightless and easy wash and dry.
I have so many mistakes in my wardrobe it just isn't funny but that said I have a few essentials that I'm keeping thanks to you. I myself try not to go with fads but sometimes I err because I think it will make me feel so good and it really doesn't. Button down shirts are my go to and tee's but I have such a hard time making them work for me. I have to say that you've opened my eyes a lot especially with purchasing ethical clothing and second hand stores. Thank you again for helping to shed light on fashion you always have such excellent presentations.
Jeans, denim jackets and black leather moto jackets are on every “wardrobe essentials list”, but I never wear any of them. My essentials are so different, blazers, silk skirts, tops, dresses and scarves, and good leather footwear. My lifestyle allows me to wear luxury fabrics without worry, so I indulge in them for daily wear, why not? The supreme comfort of silk is essential for my sensitive skin. I know many women wear jeans daily, all over the world, but I never did, I loathe denim. I never found a pair of women’s jeans that fit my straightish figure reasonably well or were reasonably comfortable, so I just got one pair of men’s, in case I have to walk in brushy areas or something, but I doubt I’ll ever wear them, so I only spent $21 on them, on sale at H&M. I’m sick of wasting so much money and time trying to find denim that works for me, just because everyone else wears them. I’ll stick to my silk cargo pants and joggers, and skirts.
💯% appreciated your insights on button up shirts. The softer, drapier button up shirts definitely get considerably more use in my closet. Will even drag out my two LS chambray shirts in Winter, but I rarely button them. Stopped buying the classic kind that would be ignored. 🤗Although I adopted 4 high quality, but lightweight dress shirts from a beau who lost weight. I like to knot the two slightly silkier solid shirts open over a coordinating tank top or slip dress. However, I now prefer to wrap & tuck the two cotton plaid ones in a solid skirt or trouser. 😉Something got lost in translation w/the blazer. 📷 Maybe I needed more photos to illustrate your point. While it's possible to swap a classic blazer for my oversized bomber, that option doesn't seem any lighter as a layer 🥵. Do love the look of a classic ❤️ blazer or leather jacket〰️esp. with a hoodie layered underneath a slightly larger one. ☀️Just tend to bake🔥 in blazers outside for the majority of the year. 👖Swap jeans for jeans!? The cut, color, or silhouette will not fix what ails me about them🤣. Only fabric weight can make a difference. Just find the majority of denim to be far too hot & structured to suit me nowadays. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Thank you for emphasizing this idea--took me awhile to realize I had "permission" not to have some of these well-touted essentials. One thing that worked for me: finding button down shirts in a t-shirt/knit fabric. JCrew had some great ones in the mens' section for awhile (women's too, but those were a polyester blend I didn't care for). I didn't realize that option even existed! Also love them in slightly oversized linen. I did indeed spring for the white POMP Tailor shirt, but it feels less like me.
I found a great one 109% organic cotton knit one at Eileen Fisher about five years ago. It was around $200, but is worth having the comfort of a tee with the button-front shirt look. I hope they bring them back, I bought mine a bit too large, I later discovered they recommend always sizing down one size. I just got my dream white hoodie from them, 100 organic cotton, I have been searching for a polyester-free one for at least a decade. It’s cropped to about the hip bone, too, which I love, most tops are ridiculously long on me.
Love this, as a wide soldered, small waist, bigger busted woman I always seem to gravitate to keeping either soft drape shirts or batwing shirts. Haven't thought about this till now, but not more trying to buy a classic cotton white shirt! Jackets I've ended up with a fab Camel blazer but it's in a stretch fabric and is machine washable and it works so well for me (It still looks tailored). Have some denim I love, have realised i have to go for stretch for comfort but I'm still yet to find the perfect pair of wide leg. (my last pair became too small after my childbirth changed my hip shape) although I love the look of a wide leg. Brilliant content thanks for sharing.
Alyssa you are amazing, the way you reframe the way we can look at style through elements we're drawn to rather than the exact pieces themselves has been a gamechanger! I've been a skinny Jean gal forever because as a petite 5 footer I struggled to find looser fits that taper and crop at the right place. Your washed denim with the white shirt though - *chef's kiss* May I ask where it's from?
This is very affirming. I keep trying to wear my white cotton shirt and it alway feels a bit too crisp for me. I just put a white silk shirt on my wishlist this week so this video was very timely!
Thank you so much Alyssa this was just what I needed spot on you always open up so many possibilities so much Magic thank you honey enjoy the rest of your trip! XXOO
I never stopped wearing wide leg waist length jeans. I have only owned 1 pair of skinny jeans that I only wore with boots and I never liked the look on me.
I wear some wider leg jeans, most of which I have had for many years, but also some skinny jeans because they are so practical for wearing with wellies for a dog walk. 🐕 I think you just need to do what makes you happy, suits you and works with your lifestyle.
I love the structure of a classic-fit blazer, I always feel frumpy in cardigans, except for the new waist-length ones. The combination of long length and no structure in cardigans is dowdy.
Such great advice. Every time I would look at a basics list and see cami’s I’d buy one thinking maybe this time I’d find the perfect cami that I’d wear. After much wasted money I have finally come to the realization that, I don’t like cami’s. I don’t feel like myself in a cami. However, I have a large collection of turtleneck’s both long sleeve and sleeveless. Those I wear all the time. 🥰👍🏻
New sub and fan. I love how you layer your jewelry. I found a prize possession in my closet. A locket that belonged to my great grandmother. Stunning, a bit worn, interesting (ha-my 3 words perhaps) and a bit chunky. I"m off to find the perfect layering piece to go with it! Thanks for the Nordgreen link. I just used it and it worked.
I always wondered why I loved the look and idea of button down shirts but never felt they worked on me. It's because my words are romantic, classic, & comfortable and traditional button downs are not romantic or comfortable for me. Now I am going to look for a nice silk button down because I feel like the soft fabric is more comfortable and romantic for me.
Hi! Love your videos! I have been looking everywhere for a blouse with a collar like the blue polka dot one you are wearing in this video (I’ve also seen a similar white one in your videos) but I haven’t had any luck. Do you have any suggestions on where to look? Thanks so much!

This was so insightful. I really don’t like blazers if any kinds but am having quite a time finding a “sweater” blazer/jacket that would hit me at the hip length because I’m only 5ft tall. If you have any suggestions as to where I should shop to find i e, I’d be most appreciative. Thanks!
One "basic" that I never wear is the "classic white t shirt". It doesn't matter what I do, it's never flattering to my shape and style, and I only wear them as leisure clothes. Also, the omnipresent jean jacket is something that makes me feel weird and out of place. They will never be a part of my style, I tried them many times and it never works
I really enjoy your channel and many tips in hybrid video were amazing! However as someone with a big chest that requires a very specific kind of button up shirt, I don’t think you nailed it on the tips for the curvier among us. How about a collab with Jessica Neistadt? She know how to rock a crisp white shirt even with a big chest to waist ratio.
I have yet to find a button up shirt that fits me. I am very large busted but have really narrow shoulders, so buying to fit my bust results in a poor fit through the shoulder. To add to the issue, I’m only 5’ tall. Tailoring costs too much and throws off the way it drapes. I’ve tried every kind of fabric, as well. I don’t bother anymore.
It doesn't matter how wonderful the piece of clothing is if it doesn't fit you won't wear it. Since I'm plus size I have difficulty finding items I like that also fit...
That was so much fun, darling Alyssa! Easy breezy and personal-feeling. I had never noticed that you're long-waisted. You style yourself so cleverly. Great tips for me, being short-waisted and long legged at 5'11". Thanks Alyssa!

@Christina Oldham yes, exactly. So great Alyssa shows so many different women, bodies, and ages. I'm in my sixties as well.
And same. I have several crisp white shirts and don't wear them. If I do, I feel stuffy and huge. My Lyocell shirts are flowy and drapey, and look way more flattering on a tall body.
@@SingYourselfWell Nice to "meet" you here. 😊
@@christinaoldham6614 I feel the same, thank you, Christina! Thanks to Alyssa for creating this community. @Alyssa Beltempo
"Keeping the waist high" on pants that are not full length-- soo helpful!!
You absolutely nailed it in this video, Alyssa. Would love a part 2
This is super helpful to me. Thanks for sharing and letting me off the hook with the danged blazers 😅
This is such a great video! I always tried blazers and button-ups and didn’t like either on me. Watching YT channels like yours, Christina Mychas (?), and Emily Wheatley has taught me a lot. Now I really like button ups. I still can’t figure out blazers, but the good news is I can still learn.
ah happy to be among such stylist ladies!
Same
Okay, I think I'm ready to sell my expensive white crisp button up shirt.
Love the background and light of this video!
Love this. Personally, as much as I look for the perfect blazer for me, I am starting to realize, that I really just don't like wearing them for the most part. I have just never liked the feeling of competing fabric inside the sleeve. So, I am focusing on vests!
Your Vlogs are very useful, great content, inclusive, kind and helpful. I've learnt a lot from you Alyssa😘
Loved this video! So many realizations of WHY i like certain styles on myself, so I can find more like it/style more like it!
A perfect fitting pair of denim jeans is probably the best piece anyone can have in their wardrobe. Annoyingly it's also the hardest piece to find!
Ahh yes this is true!
great video Alyssa.
Great watches❤ I'll take a look 😊 thx for sharing your inspirations ❤
I’ve finally decided to stop buying for my fantasy life but for my real. While I love blazers, button up shirts, and skirts, I don’t wear them often. I’m a flight attendant and want clothes that travel well and are fairly casual but can be elevated with an accessory. It’s a work in progress. 😀
Great analysis of basics and how to tweak them to create your own versions. I do like blazers, but I get a lot of wear out of both a vintage, leather blazer and a denim blazer for different spin on them.
Glad you liked it Tanya! xx
Lol
Great advice! As 5' 0 and petite, I've haven't been able to figure out the blazer fit and you're right...I'm way more moto jacket :)
♡ Yes, very well put!
Great advise! Love all the options included!
Love that you stay away from must have - blazers and formal button ups are too restrictive for me. So i go for blouses and open cardigans.
100% me too and glad I realised it as it doesnt fit into my lifestyle AT ALL
I can’t stand blazers!
I love denim shirts and just invested in a beautiful silk shirt. I always wear button up chiffon shirts that don’t have the classic collar
Ha...haha... I love boyfriend shirts. They are versatile - my best "friends". Grazie, Alyssa!
Thank you for sharing this great video with good advice. Really learning so much each time. Remain blessed xxx
Happy to see button up shirts, higher waists(or choice) & jackets again. Back to the classics-yes! Hopefully they have not all been donated
Where are the white sneakers from?
Can you do a sneaker video?
Yessss
The button up shirt is me. I could live in that and a pair of jeans from here on out. seriously.
Great video, Alyssa! 😍
Great video. Easy to digest. Helpful tips. I have never felt stylish but you make it seem doable. Thank you
Love this channel, great concept and the city is gorgeous..
Fantastic video Alyssa!
Your button up shirt is my cardigan. I love a good cardigan.
I got the Nordgreen watch last year on your recommendation and i love it
Jeans, denim jackets and black leather moto jackets are on every “wardrobe essentials list”, but I never wear any of them.

The POMP Tailor didn't work for me either. Such great quality though. I wish they had some alternate styles for those of us who prefer a softer look.
Ah thank you! They are vintage Banana Republic!
This is very affirming. I keep trying to wear my white cotton shirt and it alway feels a bit too crisp for me. I just put a white silk shirt on my wishlist this week so this video was very timely!
This is so helpful and something I do naturally but great tips!!
I love that beige blazer. The ones I’m seeing lately at many of the stores look so cheap and the fabric isn’t something I like. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much Alyssa this was just what I needed spot on you always open up so many possibilities so much Magic thank you honey enjoy the rest of your trip! XXOO
I'm adding to my fall wardrobe. Do you think wide legged trousers will be around for a couple more years?
I hope so!! As I also grabbed a pair of wide leg trousers this year. I want to wear them for years to come 🤞🏻
I never stopped wearing wide leg waist length jeans.
I alternate between wide leg or flare leg ankle jeans and skinny jeans because I love both. But I also love loose fitting boyfriend or dad jeans.
Hi Alyssa, loved your wide leg jeans with front pockets. Can you put the link of where you bought them please. Thank you
I love the structure of a classic-fit blazer, I always feel frumpy in cardigans, except for the new waist-length ones. The combination of long length and no structure in cardigans is dowdy.
Thanks for toda’s Video
What do you recommend for petite women
Look at bethany or dear bethany (something like that, sorry! She is a petite fashion adviser)
Also @ Elane Kinda has a wonderful tips on how to make things look great on petite’s. dear Bethany is fantastic also 😊
Also Chi Li "Petite Dressing" on RUclips. Kind of hokey but stick with it past the introduction.
What brand is the polka dot blouse you are wearing?😊
I think its Sezane
correct Valerie, it's Sezane! Found it secondhand!
Hi- What Brand are your black trousers? Thanks!
Sei semplicemente fantastica! I love your style. I would say that my 3 words are: soft, casual, minimal. Baci
Baci Astrid!
Can u please inform me of the brand of your round eyeglasses
They are Eco by Modo! They are approx 4 years old but they should have similar styles!
@@AlyssaBeltempo thank you for your reply
I watch you constantly as I believe in your style. You are one of the best

Are the gray flats new to your wardrobe?
Hi! Love your videos! I have been looking everywhere for a blouse with a collar like the blue polka dot one you are wearing in this video (I’ve also seen a similar white one in your videos) but I haven’t had any luck. Do you have any suggestions on where to look?
Thanks so much!
💯 agree that you need to be true to your personal style. We are all unique and wear what is truly you rather than try to wear that it's really you but because it's looking nice on someone else you think you should wear it as well.
This was so insightful. I really don’t like blazers if any kinds but am having quite a time finding a “sweater” blazer/jacket that would hit me at the hip length because I’m only 5ft tall. If you have any suggestions as to where I should shop to find i e, I’d be most appreciative. Thanks!
Talbots has a sweater/blazer this year. As I remember it's fairly short, and they do have almost all their styles in petite.
Uniglo may still do them.
Usually jeans/pants fit too tightly to tuck in button up shirts. Alternatives?
One "basic" that I never wear is the "classic white t shirt". It doesn't matter what I do, it's never flattering to my shape and style, and I only wear them as leisure clothes. Also, the omnipresent jean jacket is something that makes me feel weird and out of place. They will never be a part of my style, I tried them many times and it never works
Me too! White T shirt and denim jacket, neither suits me.
Agreed. Same goes for trench coats.
Good advice here
Great video!!!!!
Can you please tell us where your camel blazer is from? I love the silhouette!
I have broad shoulders so the boyfriend shirt is a perfect fit for me.
I appreciate you
You’re my favourite❤️
It doesn't matter how wonderful the piece of clothing is if it doesn't fit you won't wear it. Since I'm plus size I have difficulty finding items I like that also fit...
That was so much fun, darling Alyssa! Easy breezy and personal-feeling. I had never noticed that you're long-waisted. You style yourself so cleverly. Great tips for me, being short-waisted and long legged at 5'11". Thanks Alyssa!
Hey, that's me exactly: 5'11 and all legs. 😆 Same inseam as my husband who is 3.5 inches taller.
@@christinaoldham6614 yay! Me too! He's 3" taller, with 2" shorter inseam. When we sit next to each other I look like a total shrimp. Then I stand up, and people run for the hills. Bahahaha.
@@SingYourselfWell Ha, that's too funny. Same here. I can see it in people's eyes, the "wow, she's a lot taller than I thought." 😆
@@christinaoldham6614 hahaha, exactly! I almost feel guilty standing up. Bahaha.
@@SingYourselfWell Too old to care now but maybe we could have used the phrase “pardon me while I stand up and tower over you.” 🤣
My biggest complaint about the classic button up shirt is that I can never find one without breast pockets (at least in my size)! I absolutely HATE them! As someone with a larger chest, those pockets are just unnecessary.
