I got this one yesterday for my 8 year old son as his first watch so he can learn to read the time. He has slim wrist and this is where this model excels compared to the other models such as the Casioak. It wears really small. Also the buttons are much easier to press than on the Casioak. My son completely failed to press the Light button on the Casioak whereas on this model he can do it with ease. I am not into G-Shocks as I usually don't like their designs but I really like this new and compact design and could see myself wearing one.
The integrated design is really eye catching. The full blackout design too. Only missing the tough solar. Maybe they choose remove it to don't increase more the price.
Hmm, the lack of lumed markers is a major fail in my opinion. Fantastic styling, but this is such a falure of a [basic] function. Watches should never forget that their primary function is to tell the time. Pity.
But it’s stealth and has the light function, which is superior. Having the watch be visible at all times defeats the stealth look and function, while the light function allows for total visibility.
Its a very cool looking model, but the colour options are boring, hopefully they'll make some brighter versions soon, rather than years later like they've done with their other models.
Cool new model. I think I'll get the stealth. But the transluent blue is a looker too. Improvements? I wish Casio would figure something to do with the ends of their resin straps, so, they don't stick up. In a watch with such a streamlined design as this, that little end sticking up is a bit of an eyesore. Still, great looking timepiece.
I currently own 5 G-Shocks and have owned others in the past so I say this with love! It feels like Casio is just milking the money now releasing these without Tough Solar and lumed hour markers. I won't be surprised if in a year or so they do release models with those features.
Completely agree with the missing luminescence and tough solar features... but the design is very beautiful and makes the watch worth it... metal might be complicated and heavy... In all honesty I didn't like the metal GA B2100s either... light, balanced is the way to go... especially for sleath models... excellent review as always 👏 💯❤️
I love how this challenges the stealth black casioak for another lovely option to choose from. Really love the grate type of thing on the left of the hands. Still waiting for a release that really takes the cake for me, not sure if I want to buy a second casioak or switch it up to a new model. Banger video as usual!! Awesome addition to your collection 🔥
In my opinion, this new design is super cool. The much more space to to a bigger digital positive display and put a tough solar battery on it. and maybe more features like step counter, etc., next year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Casio.
@@astronaut2005drummer I agree with those added features and I think an added step counter would really fit with the sporty aesthetic. I must say that the display isn’t my cup of tea particularly, but just me nitpicking it’s fine. The new metal bar ga-2100 have really caught my eye though so might pick up a second casioak (currently have skeletal one) instead of this model 👀
this review was right on time for my decision. i was about to buy another GA 2100 colored model. and now after your review i will buy this model for sure. thanks.
Negative display and lack of solar panel are absolute deal breakers for me. Also, they should work on overall legibility and much simpler, cleaner looking and more classical designs, at least in the dial department. Why not making a classic G-shock field watch? Something like the beautiful Lineage series, but with G-shock protection all around.
"Why not making a classic G-shock field watch?" was thinking the same.. Full analog G, would be amazing. Also - a plastic buckle on this one. What a peace of sh*t eh? .. :D
I was thinking of buying one. I came across your review, which was excellent by the way. I am now going to get one, currently selling on Amazon for just over £80.
I almost like it but I'm not a fan of that shower drain. And the fixed straps I think is just Casio trying to make things as cheap to make and as expensive to replace as possible. Their replacement straps on other models I've seen were super expensive.
Got this one (a stealth black one) a week ago as sort of an "upgrade" from my GA-2100-1A3ER (basically CasiOak with neon green accents) and I'm really liking it so far. It's marginally easier to read time on my CasiOak due to neon green color on hands and tips of hour markers, but it's all just a matter of getting used to it. On the other hand, GA-B001 looks more futuristic in regards to design. All in all, I'm loving them both. :)
This looks great, and would be a perfect upgrade from my dw5600, but damn that missing lume and solar option, that's a deal breaker. Hope they fix that with newer version.
Good review, thanks. I agree with the lack of solar comments but I just picked up a red one off the Casio outlet store for £59. For that price I can live with the battery. It's a bargain!
I'm really happy this is not solar powered. I love my solar powered GShocks, but as someone who makes custom dials, there's no way to customize paint or modify solar ones, without losing that functionality. The new solar Casioak needs to keep the dial translucent in order to work, and that's a shame.
Wow! What a huge opportunity missed with the lume! That would have been soo cool. I was ready to pull the trigger until I discovered that. Other than that, great looking watch. Would be a great first G-SHOCK for someone.
Great review. I really am not a fan of the new Bluetooth trend. Could be due to fears they will do away with the atomic clock. Hard for me to go for a non solar powered g shock anymore as well. Really dig everything about the watch though.
Not adding lume to the hour markers is a little disappointing, but omitting tough solar from this watch and the GA2100 is almost criminal. Maybe they’re just trying to incrementally add features over time, but both watches (any G-Shock, really) should have tough solar.
Now add MB6, Solar power, positive display, increased lume markings, multiple timers ,(in addition to alarms) and add a full yellow colour scheme-option and i will buy one.
If the buttons on the 5610 were any bigger, the look would change and this model is a retro nod to the 1983 original, so they'll probably leave them as small - I can live with this on my 5610 - but since I have the old model, I don't have time on timer & stopwatch, which is more of a niggle to me than the buttons
Looks great, but with a positive lcd display, super white indices matching the hands and a 10 year battery, this would be the ultimate go anywhere tough G-Shock.
Great video! The first I see from your channel and I gladly subscribed. Looking forward to your future reviews. I really like the transparent teal model, but it would not match my usual everyday attire. Still, looks really cool.
I think the 'mode' wheel on the left is useless. The digital display already shows the mode as you change. That wheel could be something useful like a Day indicator.
Good price, but not a fan of the feel of resin straps - and now no way to change the strap. Bluetooth is a great feature for travellers (synch time to mobile phone with new time at destination).
No doubt, this is the all new generation of G-Shock. The future looks better than ever, this very moment after I finish this comment, I am going to Casio America and buy one!
Cool design, i might prefer it a little bit over the casioak because it looks a little more substantial. Wish they made it a little bigger. It's obvious we can't go by the G-shock measurements because they are misleading. AND P.S. lume is overrated. Both these watches have cool backlights. Who cares about lume? Lume never lasts that long and isn't as useful as a proper backlight. I think people have a lume fetish.
Casio has to stop with the whole blackout look. The watch has potential but why they keep choosing colors that make the watch hard to read quickly make it useless to me.
Odd they didn't release solar charging version at the same time. Did Casio NOT have time to release it?? would loee to see theem offer a version with "solar charging'" AND "RED NUMBERS/BLK BACKGROUND"....
It almost looks like it has a domed crystal, but I'm guessing it does not. That could have been a nice touch for this watch. The overall shape and outlook of this watch is very appealing. No positive LCD? I'm never buying a non-positive Casio again. Negative displays look cool in pictures videos and shop windows, but when it comes to daily use the negative display is so limited. Big buttons is nice but they look a bit cheap with their plastic finish. If it's a stealth option why not have all the screws and the back plate in black as well? Hands: It seems that all Casio ana-digi models have these 'back-flippers' on the hands. I think they're there to balance the weight of the hands and save battery power when moving. I wish they'd solve it differently though. Those flaps just look silly. Like you said, big opportunity missed by not putting lume on those nice round indicators.. I guess Casio can't afford spending the money on that.. I LOVE Casio but they keep making these watches that makes me wish for more. With some few exceptions they're always putting in the same functionality in their watches. Why not have multiple countdown timers? A strong flashlight like there are on mobile phones? It seems that Casio stopped being creative some time in the mid 00s. Their creativity now seems mostly directed at putting out the same type of clocks in different colours, so they've basically become Swatch.
Still waiting for Casio to make a slim gps/hrm watch (similar to gbd 200) with smart functions that works with apps such as Strava. Would be amazing, until then I'll pass.
Casio should really invest more to redesign its watch dials, which are way too busy and ugly. The novelties seem to be mainly on the case and bracelet, and incremental improvement is pretty insignificant.

No they will release it in a year or two to milk their customers for more money. Discraceful tactics.
Got the stealth one like two weeks ago and I'm more than happy with them. Design is wonderful!!!

Ok boomer stick to your old fashioned ways
Its a very cool looking model, but the colour options are boring, hopefully they'll make some brighter versions soon, rather than years later like they've done with their other models.
Im all for them doing the basics first, the casioak got crazy quick
I think the blue one is super cool,
@@thekiwiclipper1113 Its DEFINITELY the best of the bunch, but still not quite to my taste.
If you want variety, buy an apple watch. this is not for you.
@@moenibus That makes absolutely NO SENSE, the Apple watch is the most consistently boring piece of wrist junk in existence.

I got this new G-Shock GA-B001-1AER, 3 weeks ago. I love it.
I currently own 5 G-Shocks and have owned others in the past so I say this with love! It feels like Casio is just milking the money now releasing these without Tough Solar and lumed hour markers. I won't be surprised if in a year or so they do release models with those features.
Yeah I would buy this watch but I’m waiting for Tough Solar

Interesting, but I'd wait for a GMB version with metal casing/bracelet and solar.
I thought the ga 2100 is the most handsome one.... WOW 😳😲 ..this one really catch my eyes, immediately... Got to have this one ASAP.
Just ordered one myself tired of my smart watch want back to more original watches that are real not just a screen
