  • We have spent weeks trying to get this old Mopar to run and haven't had any luck. But with new points, distributor cap and rotor, can we finally get it to run?

hearing that great old Chrysler starter finally turn that engine over brought back so many wonderful memories for me - I just cried when it finally started - is this the latest video? please continue to post your progress - this is absolutely the best restoration series on RUclips - my favorite - someone was selling the complete tailgate window wiper washer system on ebay a while back - all new parts plumbing the rubber squeegees etc the tailgate will naturally need to be disassembled to replace that system

Awesome, I love classic cars bought back to life. There's nothing like hearing the start of the engine after all those years. 😊

Now, on to cleaning out the fuel system, fixing up the brakes and checking out the transmission. I think that you can get that old girl back on the road!

Well you have to go to RockAuto and fill up your cart. Brake hoses, wheel bearings inner and outer and switches I like to replace all those on an old car and keep the old one is a spare the wiper switch the headlight switch to turn indicator switch the door pin switches get everything that RockAuto has on their list. A day will come that of these things won't be available and you'll have all the old Parts you took off as spares. The blower switch on the LTD there's a little harness that melts turned out when I replace the blower motor switch there's a little harness that you replace as well because they get hot and melt it's like an upgrade that's available. Belt hoses, 160° thermostat because our summers are hotter now. A master cylinder overhaul kit just to keep when there's no longer a cylinder available. Preparing for the future for an old car. Change the differential gear lube to a heavier weight to compensate for the wear. Run 20w50 nonsynthetic engine oil in all your old cars. Synthetical blow past the seals and you'll have a wet engine. 30 weight oil is for new cars not old cars. The metal Radiator in the Ford they go for 400 bucks now. The used LTD I bought he'd replace the radiator and the fuel center in the fuel tank cuz he was running ethanol gasoline in it. Cuz he was being too cheap on the fuel. 1157 Switchback bulbs for the front turn indicators in the LTD and possibly that car if it has clear lenses. Those come from eBay those bulbs and your last item from RockAuto will be two sets of wiper blades. And maybe a universal windshield washer bottle if the one in the wagon has been eaten by mice.

Y-e-e-e-s-s-s-s-s!!! Success! That engine "wants to run!" Change the oil, clean off the gunk, make certain the brakes work...and then take her out! Enjoy this quality time! Aloha.

If you have problems in the future with ignition, the rubbing block on the points wears out fast on some of these new manufactured ones.

My latest thing is ordering chimes that have two wires from the more modern cars and connect the two into the fuse board with the factory buzzer that way it buzzes and chimes at the same time so to have a unique sound when you turn the key before you start the car. $15 just to something to shock the passenger like but this is an old car and it's going bling bling bling bling like a new car how did you do that?
