Your video & explanation were outstanding. Saved me either a significant amount of money or aggravation. I lightly sanded the end of the shaft with 220 to make it easier to push back in. I also put an index mark on the shaft and housing to make it easier to properly reinstall. Thanks for your invaluable assistance.
Great video -- thanks for posting. I just did this on my 2008 Tundra. The only thing different is that I discovered I didn't need to take the pin/post all the way out (which made is super easy to push back in, in perfect alignment). Living in Canada I couldn't find a replacement spring locally, so I ordered from the U.S. through Amazon. Not sure of the quality of the spring in the long run, but it went on like a charm as per your instructions. The biggest challenge was getting the spring locked into place. The cloth wasn't working for me, so instead I grabbed the end of the spring with needle-nose pliers and guided into place that way. So thanks again, this was super helpful.
Just in time! I work at a toyota dealership and 3 of the master techs did not know how to replace that spring since they had never replaced one of these style before. Thank you for the upload and nicely done!
There are some videos that are disproportionately helpful for a very small percentage of people. Like insanely helpful. This is one of them. Thanks so much!
Thank you - old spring was broken and came right out... was trying to put in the new spring (on the moving arm) and was afraid I was going to break it. Your video solved the mystery. Oh, and mine was missing the retaining clip! Used safety wire as a substitute.
Great video! Only one order of operation change in my opinion. Remove the 4 screws before removing the fuel cap. Eliminates the chance of one of them falling down the fuel neck.
Great video I just replaced mine on my 2018 Tundra TRD , just a slight difference with the pin there is NO clip holding it in and you do t have to remove the pin all the way to attach spring also the other end of the spring instead of going underneath the attachment it’s simply snaps in on TOP ….. thanks again my guy you just saved me $385 that’s (that’s what the dealership wanted to charge me for parts and labor because it wasn’t covered under my warranty) got a two pack of springs for $13 dollars on Amazon and it took me about 12 minutes to install !!!
I want to thank you for an excellent info video. I just replaced my spring and I did it just because you did it first. Not one snag did I come across. Thank you so very much. 😊
Thanks. Made it easier since I could see it first. Only thing I'd change. Is the leave the fuel cap on until all bolts are removed so you can't drop them into the filler neck and put fuel cap on before replacing the bolts when finished for the same reason. My 2019 didn't have the Eclip.
Great video!! Thank you so much! I see the ebay link doesnt show anything. They must have sold out but truly one of the most helpful videos ive seen. Thanks again!
A poster on a forum simply cut the rusted spring so the hatch was free-moving, then glued a small neodymium magnet to the inside of the hatch to keep it closed between fuel-ups. I thoght that was a novel solution.
Thanks I just did my 2020 trd pro. When I went to screw to door back on, one of the screws stripped...not sure why. did not try to over tighten. thoughts?

You deserve an award for offering this product. Fixed my truck in 10 minutes. Thank you!
That was great…just enough detail, the explanation of how and why 👍👏. $10 and 10 minutes ✅ Thank you.
Where did you pay $10? I was told the part is now $143.00

I don't have a spring issue, but am looking to replace my Tundra fuel cap, and your video really helps on how to remove the pin and spring. Thank-you!

Thank you sir! Great is video and very nicely done.
Thank you so much for this video!
I found it easier to put the spring around the post with the pin slightly out of position and then rotate the pin into the slot and then tap it in.
Thanks for sharing
Thank You for help

Thank you
Is there any reason to actually remove the whole pin or just back it out enough to hook the spring in?
the best!!
What manufacturer makes the spring only?
Does the spring keep the door closed or keep it open? Its unclear what the function of the spring is…
Both
guess i may need to do this my fuel door won't stay closed. but $20 for a spring , come on.
That part is now $143.00
