Woah... a Dead Like Me reaction... this is like spotting a unicorn. Its a great show, ended to soon, and had a great and unique premise... one of the forgotten gems from the 00's, that even back then it went under the radar. It came out about 10 years too early to be honest.
Wow, it's so rare for people to react or know about dead like me, this show is the first show that got me into Bryan Fuller and his works are amazing...when they last. Please keep going, also with the movie after the series.
My favorite TV show of all time is Fuller's "Wonderfalls". It got the same treatment by Fox as killed "Firefly", but fortunately is now available on DVD and RUclips. ruclips.net/video/Y8i9b_Ezvfg/видео.html
If this show had aired in this age of RUclips reactions it would be everywhere. So inventive and always able to surprise with the deaths.... So happy to see somebody find it.
The only good season is the first season. After that they fired Fuller because he wanted to make George's dad gay, and the network wasn't having any of that, but the show was just terrible without him involved.
Wow! Dead Like Me is one of my all-time favorite TV shows! I think it's so underrated and gets slept on a lot. It's so great to see someone giving it a shot. 😊
Finally someone reacting to Dead Like me. I adored this series when it came out and told everyone about it. It had some of the best writing and characters I had seen in quite some time. I was gutted when it was cancelled after two seasons, but thankfully they gave it an ending or it would have haunted me forever. Sadly, most of the writing in Hollywood sucks to high heaven and has for quite some time, and I have held this series as a standard to much of the shows that have been released since.....most of which have fallen very short. When this came out it was finally something new and not just another Network stealing an idea from another network. This series is pure Gold.
Well, this was a nice surprise! People reacting to our "toilet seat girl" are _far_ to rare! I have a soft spot for dark humour, and this series certainly hit that spot! I also like that they included some more philosophical aspects to the series. It can be quite serious at times, but as you said they balanced that out with some dark and often absurd comedy. It's a shame that it was only allowed to last for two seasons, but it was enough for me to rank it as one of my favourite shows ever!
Presumably they thought they could squeeze some life out of a show they already ruined that had been off the air for 5 years at this point. When you consider that the director behind Critters and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was behind the camera they must have done something really wrong along the way for it to be so terrible.
Wow, I've never seen anyone react to Dead Like Me! It's such a unique and fun show! As I paused the video before you started reacting in order to write this, I'll just say I hope you like it!
The creator of Dead Like Me also created Pushing Daisies, Hannibal and Wonderfalls. I really love Wonderfalls, it only got one season but the cast has so many great actors. There were already established, others went onto massive projects.
Wow, you are the first person I recall reacting to this show. This is one of my favorite shows ever, really smart how they managed to show a matter like death in a really funny way with taste.
I haven't watched this show for a while, I'd forgotten how fun and quirky it was. Now I feel like binging this one plus Pushing Daisies and The Good Place.
If you never saw Wonderfalls, it only lasted part of one season but it fits right with these shows. The problem is that is was on Fox, which cut a lot of great shows.
@@TerryNationB7 I saw it on network television. It showed 3 episodes, was off for 2 weeks then aired 2 episodes, off for a week, another 2 episodes and then no more. Fox is the graveyard of many potentially great series.
It's a very good show with lots of laughs and dark twists at times as well and there is also a movie that wraps it all up. I was surprised it got cancelled because I enjoyed it so much and I love George and Roxy Rube as well. Glad you enjoyed it
As has been said elsewhere in the comments, Bryan Fuller has produced some great, but criminally short-lived tv shows. You should watch all of Dead Like Me then move on to Wonderfalls (a girl finds that inanimate objects in the form of animals start talking to her and telling her to do stuff) and Pushing Daisies (a man grows up with the ability to bring people back to life by touching them, but if he touches them again, they die again, and if he doesn't touch them again within a minute, someone else dies). While all three shows were cancelled, they had acceptable conclusions, so you can invest in them knowing they don't stop on a cliffhanger.
What a nice surprise that YT floated this up to me. This is an old favorite, sadly unrecognized as the unique gem it is. The first I've seen of your work, I'm certainly going to check out some more. It was fun sharing this with you. Keep going! I'm in!
I bought the DVD's of this show to watch. After I was done with the entire program I put them away. Much later my wife decided to watch the first episode. From there she binge watched the rest of the series. Still one of my favorite shows.
I've loved this show so for many years. Found the full DVD box set plus the tv movie they made after it, in a thrift store one day snd snatched it up. So glad someone is watching it!
I was so surprised when i saw you were reacting to this show. I watched it years ago and really enjoyed it but hadn't thought about it in years. I'll definitely be watching if you decide to watch more!
What I like about the show is what you pointed out - that there's a really good blend of humor and dark contemplation. In one moment you're laughing because it's all so surreal and Mason's calling George "toilet seat girl" (what an unfortunate nickname, lol), and the next moment they make you think, by having a character point out to George, "You weren't really doing much with your life, anyway, were you?" Makes you think about your own life and whether you're noticing the little things, joys and sorrows, or if you're just living day to day not paying attention, working and sleeping and living almost on auto-pilot, and how you might be able to take that lesson and apply it to yourself so that you can appreciate life more fully. Plus, I like the idea that there's a grim reaper that takes your soul before a horrible death (or before any death), to give you some mercy. There's so much awfulness in the world, it would be a comfort to know that your passing is peaceful... even if a piano falls on you or you slip on a banana peel. 😉 And then you get taken to where you were most happy (like the little girl and the carnival / theme park). That would be nice. ❤
This show was a little gem. One of those that didn't met the success they deserved, and got cancelled way too early. And alas, as they are less known, there is also less people to react to them. So, even though I swore to myself I won't start following any new reactor.... you'll definitely have me staying tune in for the time it'll take you to react to this season and a half of great television !
Joy (despise being the svampire of joy): There is gonna be a funeral if you don't put on clothes Me: Well sure about that? 😁😁 And about the kid. As someone who spent a lot of time in my childhood, I have seen plenty of kids marked for death. Almost passed away myself twice.
Anyone reacting to DeadLikeMe gets my sub! I think you're gonna really dig this series Larissa... The only bad thing is that it's only 2 seasons long. See ya!!!
Well done I think your the first person I have found who watch this old show . It's been a long time since I watched this show . I love the movie they did ,only way I could get it in England was to buy the Dutch release that had the English version included ❤
I love that you're reacting to this show. I bought the whole thing on DVD. It was stupid why the network cancelled it, because it was doing pretty well.
Mandy Patinkin is awesome in this show. You may know him from Criminal Minds or The Princess Bride. ( Inago Montoya) "you killed my father prepare to die. Lol
Criminally underrated show! I've watched it 3 times and I think I'm going to have to find my DVD player to give it another go! Keep going, I think you'll enjoy it!
Possible the best "episode" of this show isn't even in the series - it's when the series creator re-imagines the entire show in an episode of another series he did - Hannibal.
A bit of trivia. When we first meet Mason he was ‘escorting’ two druggies. The druggie on Mason’s left is actor Stefan Arngrim. I first saw him as a cute child actor in 1968 in the TV series ‘Land of the Giants’, a sci-fi series about a group of survivors transported by accident into a ‘Land of Giants’, which was us. Which made the lead characters tiny aliens? Stefan’s sister is actress Allison Arngrim who was Nellie Olson in the series ‘Little House on the Prairie’.
I don't know anyone that has actually seen "Dead Like Me", but I remember running home from work on Tuesday nights to watch that show. It's a hidden gem.

So excited to see a reaction to this show! It's one of my favorite shows of all time, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone react to it before :) Looking forward to seeing how you like it as the show goes on!
Larissa!!! YES! YES! YES! One of my all-time favorites. I can’t tell you or anyone else why I love this show so much. It haunts me to this day. Filmed in my home city of Vancouver, B.C. Many episodes were filmed in my surroundings. The opening scene with Betty (redhead in blue dress) against the Vancouver skyline was filmed on the 5th-floor helipad of the Vancouver Canada Post main building where I worked for 10 years. A later shot of Betty, Mason and George sitting on top of a domed building, this was supposed to be the Sun, a heritage building in Vancouver where you can’t film on. A replica of the Sun dome was instead placed on the Canada Post helipad where the actors sat on. This is the only series where my dad, my late mom and I loved and watched together. It is funny, tragic, heartbreaking and haunting. The Vancouver Canada Post building is now closed and abandoned where a vampire apocalyptic series ‘Van Helsing’ used the 5th floor cafeteria as the heroes’ home base and a big battle in the first episode took place in front of the building. Vanessa Van Helsing has an establishing shot where she stands on the same spot as Betty, but this time you see an apocalyptic Vancouver skyline! It was eerie to see my place of refuge, the cafeteria, looked like it belonged in ‘Silent Hill’!
I'm so glad I found this... Dead Like Me is one of my favorite shows of all time 😘 the character development and the camaraderie between them is awesome. I was devastated when it was canceled.😢 I need my dog Georgia called her George.
Oh, I used to watch this show years ago, it's so unique and an interesting twist on the whole Grim Reaper idea, I'm happy to see someone reacting to it 😊
Such an underrated show. Love it immensely, have both season 1 and 2 on dvd( rarely buy shows/movies but had to buy this shows season's). Such a quirky premise of a show, i loved it.
Goedemiddag. I am a collector of funny phrases and the line: "I excel in not giving a shit. Experience taught me that interest begets expectation, expectation begets disappointment, so the key to avoid disappointment is to avoid interest" has been part of the collection for many years now. This serie is great, it's been taking up hard-drive-space on my pc for the last 20 years, I am not willing to part from it still, it's great to see someone discovering it 20 years later, fellow Dutchie as well, leuk.
I rewatched this about a year ago. I legit had forgot how funny it is. BTW, balance your volumes. In order to hear the TV show, I have your voice so loud the whole house vibrates.
I like these after death type shows as I've had several out if body experiences . Eg : nearly dying on the operating table several times during those times actually seeing myself on the table looking down at my body and that was when I was 4 years then 8 old during open ♥ heart surgery ever since I'm not afraid to die I can't say if there is a Heaven or not all I can say Is we are beings of spirits
I came across this show in 2010; found it online and binge-watched it through the entire series and the movie that followed (yes, there's a movie with the original George). It's quirky and fearless and very smart and philosophic. The music is incredible, the storylines very original. Absolutely great show. I understand why the series only ran 2 years; originality can sometimes only stretch so far. It began to get threadbare in the 2nd season. I was so sorry to see that. Sometimes there's only so many stories in a concept, and attempts to overstretch just makes the patches more obvious. I encourage you to watch ALL of it! And congrats for finding this.
The first episode and the last one are the best. The ones in between are all classic. The show was perfect for two seasons. Im sure it hurt people that it got cancelled but really it was the perfect ending.

I remember watching this like 100 years ago on TV.
It's a good little show.
I’m so late but excited that I found your reactions to this underrated series.
The first episode and the last one are the best. The ones in between are all classic. The show was perfect for two seasons. Im sure it hurt people that it got cancelled but really it was the perfect ending.
I'm glad you are watching this series. It's very different than most shows. I excited to see your reactions!👍
One of my favorite shows of all time
I loved this when it first aired and bought the dvd box set. I was so pissed when it got cancelled. ☹️
You should see the movie Dead Like Me After Death. This movie came out after the series ended.
My wife and I loved this series when it came out.

OMG I couldnt even wish that someone would react to one of my favourite but yet underrated shows!!!
