I loved watching your face as the questions in the lyrics went from ear to heart. PTX uses the vocal flourish to perfection in this type of song. The ones that convey a message about an important subject. Can’t get much more important than Jesus, the single most significant life ever lived.
I am a religious person, but even those who aren’t can’t help but be affected by their version of this song. It literally takes my breath away every time I hear it.

I Love Pentatonix and their vocal ability, however hearing the one who penned those words sing his song with phenomenal back up singers will leave you breathless.
They found each other in high school and God must have brought then together to show us His grace

I think you would love to hear David Phelps sing, well... anything. He is amazing, the best singer I've ever heard! He has sung with the Gaither's and of course solo, but he is an amazing singer of all genres.

I love Pentatonix, but hearing the song performed by the original author of the lyrics, Mark Lowry, along with the amazing duo and fellow group members Guy Penrod and David Phelps from the Gaither Vocal Group, is made even more powerful when David cranks it to 11. Mark penned the lyrics, the amazing Buddy Greene put it to music, and yet another group mate, Michael English made the first available public recording. There is only one word to say, and that is HALLELUJAH!
This was a very good cover, but I have to be honest, it wasn't until the final verse and chorus I felt they took it to a new level.
They made it so beautiful that it hurts a little to hear it . But it is a good kind of hurt .

For those who don't know who Mary is, she is Mother Mary who gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem , the Lamb of God. You did this reaction in November. Since then I see calls to watch it from Voctave. Every year Mark Lowery releases a new version of Mary Did You Know with him as the lead. Mark continues to work on how to sing the song to bring out the meaning of the message. It would be fascinating to see you point that out. If they doubled the voices here, imagine Voctave with multiple voices in each register.
IMO this version is singing to Mary. When Mark sings, he is not questioning Mary because she pondered all these events in her heart as God reveals (present tense) Himself to humans, His children and all the earth, beginning with the stable. He blesses Mary to make Himself more relatable to us as our Father to all races throughout the world. If it is too much of the same song in one year, remember it and don't forget to do it next year with Voctave, please.

I would suggest you listen to and react to "Mary, did you know?" when sung by the person who wrote the words: Mark Lowry. My favorite of his versions is when he sings with the wonderful group Voctave. It is almost like having angels accompany him. You will not be disappointed - equally as harmonious as Pentatonix's version. Can't top either one.

This group has honestly restored my faith. I am SO grateful that I found out about them early in the pandemic. My only regret is that I hadn't been following them all along.
