Loved the bike bridge & ferries (and your videos), but the ferry path broke the beautiful bike bridge you put in at 6:27 (see also 30:23 next to the car bridge, the bike bridge is still broken) Would be a shame for people to miss out on the sea breeze on their bike trip 😊
After this you said you are going to remove the paths at the entrance of the zoo so they can’t get in without paying… (at 16:07 the ticket price slider shows that you ticket price is 0…)
Love the new ferry system! However, I feel like it might be a good idea to keep the original loop line as well. There seemed to be quite a few people using it, and it was a good and direct way to get point A to point B along the river banks.
As a person from a city with a lot of ferries, in a country with even more of them, it is not unusual that there are both quick ferries and longer ones. Quick for quick crossing and longer ones for them that goes on longer comutes. Usualy there go from the same ferryport/station in intervalls.
This is a great point. in our city, the loop crosses the the river at every point which means that anyone who just wants to pop across can but you still have access to the rest of the river.
Great episode. For the trade school, you definitely need to get leveled up to add the School of Tourism building-which would go perfectly with the zoo being right there! You could add the bison enclosure to the zoo and say that they're the campus mascot, the Fighting Biffaloes! 😁
Yes, a much more realistic way for the railway branch to dive under the mainline would be to have it going down a gradient parallel to the mainline before using a tunnel just for the last bit ... although as the railway and the road are elevated I don't think you would really have a tunnel there at all.
As you have the space for two ferries at the Autumn District, you could add a line from there, to the area over at the stadium in the Cherry Center District. Love your videos!
Hey biffa. Love you content. Just a suggestion. Setting up a ferry stop at the zoo. I live in Sydney and we have a dedicated ferry line from the cbd to the zoo (Taronga).
I don't know if you switched editors or what but the recent videos have been hilarious, the editing is just enough to where it's funny but it's not forcing a joke every two seconds plus the thumbnails have been great! even as a well-established RUclips you still find ways to make episodes more and more enjoyable which is hard to find nowadays, so from your community we thank you :)❤
I think you should fence the zoo off! Also, the trees behind the moose enclosure looked nice, it fit in with the path that goes behind it, like a little "grove walk", around the moose. It's cool. Maybe you can change the trees on the enclosure with a mod to fit in with the trees around the area.
Biffa to be logical, I think you should have smaller ferry stops connecting to nearby ferry stops directly as you just did in the video and the big ferry stops should also be able to connect to each other so they have a purpose being big. Something you would have for like domestic flights and international flights
I think your ferry system could include some diagonal lines so that people can move both along and crossways on the river. The NYC East River ferry system does a good job of bouncing back and forth between Manhattan & queens/ Brooklyn. Their system map might be a good reference to have a glance at.
A small detail, but when you changed the roads outside of the ferry stop to one way you removed the buss stop on the way back since it was on the "wrong" side. :) Love the episode!
The zoo line is so popular because it also connects the ferry to the train by the university. What if you ran a trolleybus, small tram, or monorail along the shore from the ferry to the zoo, with a new entrance on the shore side of the zoo? You could then route the bus from the ferry through the district then back to the university/train.
Since you added the one way in and out at the zoo, do you even need that road in the middle intersection anymore? Could probably just remove that to stop the parked cars from pulling out.
Great again Biffa. About the University I would move the Police Academy a slight touch off the Main building to leave a large area in front for a park that give a view of the Main. U. building. And don't forget to put zoo fences around the zoo for not having lions or gazelles walking downtown.
Maby you can connect one of the pedestrian road from the plaza dlc at the zoo entrance? If you have more buses, one to each block or something, connect every line at the zoo, ferry or subway, then people has more choices for going home, and there would be more space in each bus cause people are not going to the same destination.
Two High points bus line indicates either need for subway or at the very least direct bus line between two points. As in express Ferry to zoo, express Ferry to train, express train to zoo. then have a bus line that hits slow points for each.
Loving the new rail connection. But from EP1 in that series this motorway next to the railway is waaay to high above the ground. So maybe you can drop it a bit so that it does not overshadows the buildings in the area. Absolutely love the series, very enjoyable to watch. Take care Biffa!
Great video as usual Biffa. I had a few suggestions for the city: I would put one farry line along the coast that has the most people living there. I'm from Hamburg in Germany and there is main line that goes from the main ferry terminal into multiple direction with one large main line along the city part of the harbour, while there are multiple lines that cross over to the industry and container terminals Hamburg in general could give would a helping hand here in this setting. For the looks you could put the three big schools like the Police Acedemy right by a larger road and dorms at the 1u two way streets, just to tie that all together nto a need bow. Also just for realism sake for the zoo, have all the enclosures far away from the roads so the animals wouldn't be bothered by the car noises. And the small road in front of the Zoo entrance should just go. That will be a nightmare to come, because it's right up to the road that goes to the highway.
It's not a rule, but my experience is that unless operating up and down a river, ferries are _usually_ point to point service. They don't do complicated routes with many stops... they bounce back and forward across a body of water, serving just two wharves, maybe a third if there's something in a compelling location between the two main points. Having lots of stops is usually undesirable, because ferries are relatively slow to dock and to board... a stop for a bus might be 20 seconds, but a stop for a ferry might be 5 minutes. Better to load a few hundred people at point A, go to point B and unload them all, then repeat in reverse. The exception does tend to be river ferries, which go up and down the river, stopping at both sides... so they're functioning both as local bridges *and* long-distance routes.
I think a good name for the uni could be "University of Lyons", which I like because it not only makes a reference to Lyons tea, but also the real life University of Lyon (although I'm not sure how your British citizens would feel studying in a school that makes a pun on a French institution and Irish tea).
It's all a bit more cosmopolitan than that! From Wikipedia: "Lyons Tea was first produced by J. Lyons and Co., a catering empire created and built by the Salmons and Glucksteins, a German-Jewish immigrant family based in London. Starting in 1904, J Lyons began selling packaged tea through its network of teashops. "
Biffa, I LOVE the Zoolander references, especially for a Zoo! Glad to see you're doing well and I've been enjoying the steady stream of new videos! Take care!
I've just had a thought about the problematic bridge; is there a way to make it a stackable bridge similar to what the bridges are like that the makers put in with the trains? For example putting the bus and bike lanes underneath the car and truck lanes.
With the new tile available, i was hoping very strongly for a total redo of the highway connections, train and bus depot (intercity station?) connection 😉 It was all crammed in in what space was available before due to lack of space, but now there's no reason not to make it more realistic with connections that make sense...
Amazing episode! Just a suggestion, Idk if you were just waiting for the zoo to be max level to put everything then a fence because you don’t want the animals running around the city
At 31:40, I think the reason the bus does that funny loop is because you have a stop between the junction and the preceding node and it's in a right-turn-only lane, so after the bus stop there's no way for the bus to do anything other than turn right.
To add on to what I said with my last comment. I loose it every time you edit sound effects and camera shake like with the bulldozing ferry lanes. Or when the game snaps and you put in a crack sound. I HAVE to appreciate how that's exactly the way it feels playing the game. Like someone's grabbed my head and snapped it to look a diffrent direction. Or that you feel a weird sort of aggression when you have to click something multiple times. Haha. Keep up the good work. Editing is often underappreciated as well, but I see you there hahah
That sloping train tunnel you added in just before the 10 minute mark, you could have curved it INTO the mountain, not slope it at all at the top. Curl and slope it inside the mountain and have a straight path out at the bottom.
The road opposite the zoo entrance should just be a path (or ped road) to stop the cars leaving the car park on it, and then they can easily get back to the bus line on the main road ☺️
38:15 the one with the most capacity is actually the citeas 120… and it has 120 capacity which is ten more than the double decker you are using I suggest you add other bus routes in this dense area
Hey Biffa! Low density residents on the Autumn District main road would not prefer waking up to the bleating of deer from the zoo behind their homes in the middle of the night. Maybe you can dezone the low density self sufficient residential buildings on the main road which are right in front of the zoo and add commercial buildings instead?
Maybe a tram line 🚊 along the big arterial road of autumn discrict. That could connect metro, ferry and train station with higher capacity than the bus, that one seems a bit overworked!
Hi Biffa, love your videos. Your ferry terminals in the pedestrian zones aren't getting serviced (for bins etc.), because they aren't within the pedestrian zoning. You may need to fiddle with the zoning to sort this. For the road in front of the zoo, could you make the 4 lane road you banned cars from into a bluestone pedestrian street? May stop the cars getting confused.
So I know you used a tunnel to get the railway to the station, but it seems more appropriate to move the railway station to the other side of the mainline seeing you own the new square and then you would not need the dodgy tunnels to get the rail line to the station. It would seem more likely than the un-natural routes that are there now
I had a similar issue with the leveling height tool as well as the straight line tool. Buggy for some reason but, after a few attempts and corrections I ended up getting it to work. Same with clicking on icon to setup the lanes… other features in that menu popup instead. 😢
I just had a thought about your crates falling. My brain just thought logically they must have collision on, then I thought why, and I realised that when you have disasters all sorts of things fly about especially cars and viechles. So these shipping containers must be an asset designed to be used with the moving models of trucks and trains rather than ploppable. I'm not sure fully, but if they're a downloaded asset perhaps that's where those models are sourced and there's some underlying code that's affecting it. I could be completely wrong Haha. But mods aren't my strong suit and maybe my thought process might help. I mean, that's got it be it right? Why else would they do that.
For the University: Biffalo's Cop a Tea Colledge. For the train, a nice underground loop to get to the higher level would be nice (you could use the lovely button).
In the Realworld the main trainline wouldnt have a trainstation directly on it, because of throughtraffic like cargo or trains that just arent holding at this stop would be stopped by the trains that are in the station
And if you are going back and forth you would stop on the main track and change directions, so yea not that ideal (They probably change directions before the passengers can enter but still not that good).
You could have kept your Ferry lines that run parallel to the coast as your Sims need to get up and down the coast just as much as they need to get across the river.
Land-based methods are usually better for travelling up and down the coast though... trams or buses. The strength of ferries is that they can take shortcuts across harbours and inlets which road vehicles would need to go around, and that they can reach islands inaccessible to road vehicles. That strength doesn't come into play when they're just sailing up and down parallel to a straight road...
At the very least attach the ferry in the middle to the two across the river. Short 3 stop loop or 2 2 stops so it is still useful. Same could be said about the other isolated ferry that you have scheduled to only go to a yet to be built island. Getting it to the industrial area (fishing) could help as well.
Either I'm mad or no-one else spotted this (yet). The main road that runs in front of the Police Academy. You stubbed in a three-lane asymmetrical road within the frames (and changed them to yields a bit later), but you then connected those three lane roads with a 2u 4-lane. You can see it quite clearly at 26.17. Intentional? Or did morning Biffa need more tea and not math so good? Great call on the ferries btw, and I too hate how you have to spam dorms etc to level up Universities! Don't forget to delete your other, Vanilla uni, else it'll pilfer half your students.
Yeah he built 2+1 roads at the intersections to give himself turning lanes for 1+1 roads... but then connected them with a 2+2 road. Relatively harmless, but it does look strange.
Probably a "voice in the wilderness", but how about Elkie Brooks Institute for a name? (Brooke Bond Tea and the famous singer Elkie Brooks, who potentially could have sponsored something there?). Still loving your work, mate. Creative and entertaining.
Honestly I think the Police Academy being on its own on the bank of the river across the water from the rest of campus would be fantastic. It would preserve the views from the main building to the waterfront and open up the space in front of it for plazas and statues when we unlock those?
Hi ... 37:06 The small four lane road has a dedicated right and a combined lane for straight-on and left-turning traffic. You did not do that, I think the setup routine for the timed traffic lights did it. Maybe putting in lane connectors can stop TMPE from making such questionable choices. 37:11 You are splitting the routes of the bus, keeping one direction on the large road, the other direction goes through Zoo St. Do passengers accept this solution? Check the bus stop in Zoo St with the Commuter Destinations Mod - are there people with destination on the "left side" [seen from this camera angle]? In this case people don't accept the main road bus stop for the other direction (towards Autumn District) but choose to travel a detour via the new campus and back instead ... this might explain the overcrowding of the bus line.
Biffa,**please** use the gradient tool for rails, too. Not only for Streets. Also any bus line with 200+ people waiting at multiple stops screams at you that it actually wants to be a tram line.
The trailers that you deleted from the cargo port were the correct trailers, just parked the wrong way round! They're what is called skelly trailers and are used for transporting the cargo containers around. It looks like they were loaded with 20 foot containers, if they were loaded with the larger 40 foot containers then they would look similar to the ones that you replaced them with (tilt trailers - canvas sides). The skelly trailers are what transport your cargo containers around the country, they can also be loaded on trains and cargo shops too. Source - I spent several years working with these things!
For the Ferries, I would like to suggest Zigzagging. For rivers, zigzagging works well to allow short hops in both directions. In open areas, loops with fewer stops. with maybe an express service from an outer area to a main hub. My example is Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta river, Australia.
Just a Serjestion Biffa: I would Serjerst that you awap out the Zoo single ferry for A double ferry point And add a few Conections to the other ferry points, this should help ease the trafic of visitors who just want to go to the zoo atractions and prevent that masive pile up in the parking lots. I would aslo serjest addign a Cargo frery line between you industreal zone and the shoping Center, giving good sand extra route to the area. As a bonus, the river would look alot more active with verius river trafic zippin back and fore.
That slip lane was great use of what would otherwise be empty space. I think the zoo gate was on the zoneless parkway there. The coathanger road at the ferry has a lane that's looping, both lanes need to go right. The zoo definitely needs a sea life enclosure
Excellent work but you definately should seperate the traffic from the University. The way just like you did in the ferry stop would be a good suggestion for also the campus. Only 1 access to the main building (with large trees on both sides maybe) and everything else in the campus are away from the road. What do you think?
4:30 how many transfers are the people willing to make for a journey? I've see assertions that they won't transfer more than twice before giving up and just driving, and also that transfers are zero-penalty, which can be read as "transfer as many times as necessary" or simply as "time spent actually doing the transfer doesn't count for route determination". But those two readings could lead to vastly different outcomes, depending how far they end up from the bus stop/metro station/whatever after the second transfer happens....
The main bridge you showed at the start should be a main road without side roads like as it hits the islands, have roads the go under it to cross side to side, ones that connect like highways just to elevate some of the junctions and traffic
That would definitively help ! That way people that want to go straight can just go under the bridge and skip the intersection altogether, is that what you mean ?
Lots of ferry use in Brisbane, Australia. It's called the "city cat" and zigzags across the river. So rather than one line just back and forth, perhaps a line that goes from north to south, west to east, then turns back on itself.
Just found you lately and been obsessing over Biffalo Countea. Mine never look this good (I’m basic AF) but you’re inspiring me to detail, detail, detail!
Now knowing that you look at feedback for your cities gave me more respect for you, happy I started watching you (biffalo countea is my fav city so far)
Nit-pick but hopefully helpful: At about 2:30 in, using node controller to turn off crosswalk marking only deletes the paint -- the crossing still remains. Best to use the TM:PE junction edit tool to remove pedestrian crossings.
Very nice video! As for the jiggling colour of the container, probably I'm wrong, it seems to me that when you copied and pasted the strip of container, you wrongly pasted them two times instead of one and now they are overlapped at the same hight but whit different colors (because you turned only one strip). Hope to solve this problem!
the thumbnail tho 😳😳
😁
Average elephant rides enjoyer.
It worked, didn't it?
Hahahah I nearly missed the video
The intrusive thoughts won

Agreed, should look at the PNW ferries (largest in the world). Would incorporate straight lines, but also diagnol points, sort of "hubs"
Or maybe a zig zag line :)
@@spartacus987 That's funny I was just considering suggesting looking at Seattle area Ferry lines which have a fairly complex set of paths.
@@caroapfelmus agreed. The line shouldn't go along the coast, but the one far left that is not in use could go to the zoo ferry stop.

Ooh maybe the trade school should be some kind of veterinary college, since it's right next to a zoo
30 seconds into the game and I'm thinking having a zoo next to a university could mean there's research synergies to be had!
Not as far for the animal rights mob to travel if it's on campus 🤣 Biffa thinking about traffic ahead of time!
This could be very good or very bad. Hahaha.
For the veterinary and animal behavior sciences students, this would be a golden opportunity !
"The Zoo" is the name for one of the end grandstands at a stadium in Dunedin, NZ... because that's where all the rowdy university students sit.

Ummmm do we want a jurassic park repeat ? Why, yes we do !!
Since you added the one way in and out at the zoo, do you even need that road in the middle intersection anymore? Could probably just remove that to stop the parked cars from pulling out.
Howdi Biffa - love the videos! How about you utilise the Bus-Ferry exchange more? I feel the hub tab is underutilised by many!
For the trade school -- Biffalo Countea Communitea College.

It would seem more likely than the un-natural routes that are there now
The other thing I would do is to get rid of the one road outside the zoo and just have the one way part
Istanbul is a good example of running good ferries
Trees add attractiveness. So go nuts with detailing.
a theme park or big park would be really nice! love your vids, keep it up!
Probably a "voice in the wilderness", but how about Elkie Brooks Institute for a name? (Brooke Bond Tea and the famous singer Elkie Brooks, who potentially could have sponsored something there?). Still loving your work, mate. Creative and entertaining.
24:00 Campus. Can you put the campus on pedestrian roads?
nice build
you could build some dorms right next to the river or sea
Great episode today! Loving the mixture of Zoo and University. For some reason it works! Bus was really popular. Glad you put the big boys on it 🤩
Campus attractiveness is only affected by buildings from the specific campus' assets.
Honestly I think the Police Academy being on its own on the bank of the river across the water from the rest of campus would be fantastic. It would preserve the views from the main building to the waterfront and open up the space in front of it for plazas and statues when we unlock those?
I really like the city and very excited to see more!
You should put the ryde trains on the route you made as you have ryde buses and ferries, it would just make sense. Love the revisit to New Tealand Btw
I'd love to see the Class 710 (raised) used. They are very flexible and look nice
You should extend the metro line directly to the zoo, to take some of the burden off of the bus line.
27:04 How about a pedestrian cross in front of the exit from train station?
The trailers that you deleted from the cargo port were the correct trailers, just parked the wrong way round!
They're what is called skelly trailers and are used for transporting the cargo containers around. It looks like they were loaded with 20 foot containers, if they were loaded with the larger 40 foot containers then they would look similar to the ones that you replaced them with (tilt trailers - canvas sides).
The skelly trailers are what transport your cargo containers around the country, they can also be loaded on trains and cargo shops too.
Source - I spent several years working with these things!
Thumbnails - you won 🏆
Love the sound effects, makes me laugh every time!! Always get excited to see you upload Biffa, keep up the amazing work!
Im not sure of a name for teh college but surely it has to be an insteatute of some kind
Just a Serjestion Biffa:
I would Serjerst that you awap out the Zoo single ferry for A double ferry point And add a few Conections to the other ferry points, this should help ease the trafic of visitors who just want to go to the zoo atractions and prevent that masive pile up in the parking lots.
30:16 The game wanted to crash, but Biffa said "It's working really well", so the game changed it's mind 😆
Hi Biffa. You might have fixed it in edits (or I missed it) but I think you destroyed your lovely new bike bridge when making the new ship routes.
You can make a path in the litte forest so the pepole can enjoy it evean more!
@@noemierollindedebeaumont1130 yeah exactly
Lots of ferry use in Brisbane, Australia. It's called the "city cat" and zigzags across the river. So rather than one line just back and forth, perhaps a line that goes from north to south, west to east, then turns back on itself.
Biffa the zoo ticket prices are set to ZERO! No wonder the traffic is nuts people love a good freebie!
The middle large ferry stop that you left disconnected could have 2 lines one to Autumn district and one to Eggleston.
