No, no, no... This is mostly American BS and American myth and fairytale. Nobody is gonna "force you" to buy things you dont want. But this whole process is extremely difficult for Americans to understand... MANY THINGS are extremely difficult to explain to americans. Such as climate change, evolution and healthcare. And that their F-22 is a failure, and no... US police are NOT "highly trained"... I could go on and on.
The thing Americans simply WILL NOT understand, is that if Ferrari are making 500 units, or 499, then that is a symbolic thing they have always done to always sell fewer cars than the demand. This is unthinkable for the American corporate structure. What, NOT selling a product to a paying customer??
Imagine if Ford really had bought Ferrari back in the 1960s. There would be entrylevel Ferraris based on Fords, the Italian link would be fazed out, and Ferrari would today be just a yellow sticker they put on "Premium" Fords. Which is all thats left of the Shelby name and logo.
So... If they are making only 500, or even 1000 cars, but 5000 people WANT them, well then there arent going to be enough cars, are there. Its pretty simple math. So to be a "Prefieri" As Italians call it, you have to be a loyal customer of the brand. And have a great relationship with the dealership.
Simple, isnt it. There is no specific list of stuff they "make you" buy. This is an American misconception. If the dealership doesn't like you, or thinks you are an unpleasant grifter, or think you just want to flip it for quick money, well then they are WELL within their rights to NOT sell you a god damn car.
Ford did the same thing, actually even worse, with the Ford GT.

I bought 12 x 911's over the space of 5 years, I wanted a GT3.. They didn't give me an allocation, so I asked them to call me soon as they had a GT3 in stock second hand.. they never called me when they had 3 unsold in stock, I stopped buying Porsches for that reason but they was always happy to take my money and over charge me for service and repairs.

      Overcharge what do you mean?
I sold a RAM 1500 to a Porsche mechanic If you get the ceramic effort one breaks on the G T3 a break job cost you 20K.

Fine with me I would have sold all 8 of them and then never bought a Porsche again and made sure everyone I know hears this story.

Just looked up used 911s for sale in my country and found an almost unused -23 GT3 RS for about 3.3mil SEK (250k GBP / 310k USD). If I wanted this car and could afford it, I'd go this route instead of groveling before the feet of a greedy car dealer

If you have the money to buy 8 Porsches , you have the money to pay the $200k over sticker for GT3 RS and just get it over with. Plus, it would’ve been A LOT cheaper 😂

That’s an insane story if true. Also would have been a lot easier to just pay the extra 100-200k and buy second hand from an exotic car dealer. Don’t get to spec it yourself. but still better than buying 8 other cars you don’t need

It is quite common with Porsche dealers in the UK.
It's actually a lot easier to pay the extra amount as markup for a preowned car and this amount will be about the same that's lost due to the depreciation of those interim cars, also the owner doesn't have to wait 5-6 months or sometimes 1-2 years to take delivery of the car but they do have the luxury of choosing what they want and sometimes that does dictate the resale value of the car.

Exactly what Rolex and AP does..this is why there’s a booming market of people selling allocations and vehicles with massive markups. Such a shady, shitty tactic.

Bruh I doubt every single damn Porsche dealership is like this, if it was really that way, then Porsche would be just like Ferrari with their Cease and Desist or whatever the hell note is called.

This didn’t happen, they want to sell cars to people who are not going to flip them. They want them to buy and trade a few cars, but in the end the GT car will be worth more than your total investment.

How exactly? At least with Ferrari, they allocate a car after having bought so many cars from them. Porsche just screws their vip customers by selling the car to whoever pays a huge dealer markup.
