I just bought one of these as I often need a cane. It is an amazing piece of equipment. No doubt that it would be a very formidable weapon. Where I live my carry permit allows me to carry anything legally. I carry a gun but something like this may be even more of a deterrent to a would be thug than a gun. A gun shot wound versus your intestines laying all over the ground? Yikes!!
Excellent blade and cane. Mine came in handy when I had surgery a couple of weeks ago. Mine rattled a little. I fixed it by placing a half dozen cotton balls at the end of the aluminum shaft. You must lube the rubber rings with silicone periodically. To avoid tearing the rings you should twist when pulling the cane out and putting it back into the shaft.
I want that sword cane, where can I find one? Update; i finally have one of those babies as of 5-5-2023 and I must say that i couldn't be happier with it. Exquisite home/car defense along with walking in the streets at night!
Ever since the Multiple Sclerosis hit, several years ago, I knew I was gonna sometimes need a cane. & since I have prior MA training, the outcome was obvious. It was always gonna be a Sword. One small modification: 👈 I coated the top 14" of the shaft with 2-ton clear epoxy, & carefully spiraled down a length of black paracord. To improve grip performance.
I bought this sword after viewing the ad the first time I saw it some 12 or so year's ago. And since then the only thing I've ever done to it is as any cane need's on occasion if and when utilized normally every day is the rubber tip. There was only one time in my 12 year's in which I basically was compelled to separate the blade from within the scabbered. Viewing it by the assuming perp, was sufficent enough. Though conventional canes made of wood and even those of some sort of polymer, which are unbreakable are allowed anywhere, even airplanes. I doublt my bladed cane made of steal and aluminum would ever make past airport security.
What I can say about the HDSC is that it has quite a typically thin and lightweight sharp blade, which makes it a somewhat relative to rapiers. It's ironic because I own dozens of rapier in my warehouse but don't have one of these
I got one. Purchased the short quick draw as well. This is a lot to draw compared to the QuickDraw, but it's all truly heavy, and this grips much better than the Quick Draw. I have constrictor hitched both cane handles strategically for much improved grip control, which allows power transfer with accuracy and weapon retention. The Quick Draw was impossible to control well until I did so, and I even contrictor hitched paracord onto the round steel sword shaft where my thumb naturally rest upon it when drawn. I Constrictor hitched 120 Seine Twine or Bankline strategically on both cane's aluminum shafts as well. That works great for my draw technique and for fighting both parts of each cane. I have been practicing in the forest with my walking sticks, and later with a Oak cane, which I used Constrictors hitched to it to weaponize and provide replaceable armor and fighting station grips. Only transitioned to the cane and began combat training myself about 6 months ago. Now I'm realizing how much is possible with what I'm developing. I realized I can probably learn to fight with a cane and a Kerambit knife and have figured out how. I can already fight the cane with either or both hands, or hybrid by smack directing it with my knife or kubotan or empty hand, so I got six ways to fight it, and believe it's possible to fight with a cane and kerambit knife in each hand, though it not sure that's practical. I can legally carry any blade in Tennessee, so I will practice drawing and fighting both parts of these sword canes, but I'm kinda at a point where I'm overwhelmed for now, as Im developing my own very unique combat cane and fighting techniques and systems. I have disabilities like bad arthritis and such. Lower back and lots of other crap. I need to catch up in my abilities and training and thus learning. I can use my armored Oak cane on trees to practice, but the aluminum shaft sword canes require me to lash tires and rags to tree's, which I will do. I am going to check out fans as weapons, and have ordered two plastic hair combs which can be used as 6" daggers. I have other, additional secret and legal carry weapons I've developed and made myself, which will not be recognized as weapons. Additionally, tactical pens can be stored on a cane if done properly. My Oak cane is now a durable work of weapon art and is great for foraging mushrooms and plants and nuts and berries. Sharks tooth letter opener and lashed on ergo finger grips, and a blocking guard strap. Someday I'll be selling versions of my cane for a thousand dollars apiece. In a matter of months, my combat capabilities should increase dramatically as I also rehabilitate as much as possible hopefully. I believe I may purchase training and a fighting cane from an existing system though, and practice it to understand and be better all around, though my full design thus far is not conducive to all spinning it is an immensely powerful fighting tool and mobility device. Gonna install a recessed knife sharpener into the horn as well. Help fuckers make the fuck off decision.

To you ppl who say all those things (swords, sabers, katanas) are useless, remember not in all countrys guns are legal, so those things are VERY useful.
I own several Cold Steel knives and swords. Plus some others like the torpedo. I use them within their intended purposes. Even though they are well made, I use a knife as a knife, wood splitting is done with an axe, belt axe. My knives are razor sharp, no way I would take a chance on damaging the edge by chopping with it. I am very happy with the tools they make. My first knife was the Trailmaster, SK5. I bought it not knowing anything about Cold Steel. It was very sharp right out of the box. That impressed me as even high end knives are known to carry a utility edge that needs work. It held the edge through butchering game very well. It is a good test of any blade to see how long the edge lasts cutting through hair. I even own this sword. They are one of my favourite knife, sword manufacturers.
I'm going to purchase this, as I need a good, strong cane for actual walking. My walker can't go everywhere, unfortunately. As a USN Vet, I know the necessity of being well armed. I will need input wrt a four toed foot add on. It will serve a dual purpose. The traditional, of course, but as a means for blade release by placing it between both feet, and removing the blade for action. Left hand usage is near non-existent. So I ask for input regarding this modification. Thanks, Mr Thompson & Cold Steel.
The stick is of a standard size so normal lanyards and the end piece that touches the ground are standard sizes. If those three toed ends can be bought separately, it should fit. If you have to drill a couple of holes, it should be no problem. I weigh two hundred pounds and often lean heavily on the stick. It is strong. The stick, with the blade inside, is heavy enough to do real damage itself. Because it is a thick blade with no distal taper, it is poorly balanced and a bit clumsy in the hand. Unless your good hand is strong, this might not be for you. I am trying to imagine pulling the blade out with one hand, holding the bottom with my foot. I think you will be dead before it is usable. Your hand will be high, perhaps over your head when the blade leaves the cane, pulling it vertical. I think you would be better served by a pistol, for self defense purposes.
This thing's been a godsend. Very affordable. I have a damaged ankle, so need to walk with a cane. A cripple makes an easy target? Not so fast. My upper body strength could drive this thing through kevlar.

If you shake it you can hear it rattle. There's nothing to hold the blade away from the shaft when you draw it , so the edge of the blade scrapes along the inside of the shaft, which is really just a piece of pipe. Nice blade, but the outward appearance is cheap and obvious.
@busterpiggle The rattle gets on my nerves a little too but, If you take the sword out and then shake the shaft, it still rattles. I don't think the sword is rattling against the inside of the shaft (metal to metal). There seems to be some type of plastic tip guard at the bottom that is causing the movement.

UNFORTUNATELY, LAST WINTER I WAS IN S FRENCH HOSPITAL AND MY CAN WAS STOLEN WHEN I WAD SLEEPING 😴 ... SO I AM WAITING FOR THIS CANE TO BE AVAILABLE TO BUY ... 2 OF THEM, DIRECTLY ! 😃👍 IF YOU HAVE SOME INFOS ABOUT AVAILABILITY IN EUROPE 🇪🇺 ... California is a stupid neoliberal state, a disgrace like Washington, Oregon etc: in CA sword canes are banned, while drugs and gender theories crap absurdities and 'no borders' dieversity and 'white guilt' are ok, lol. Better Georgia, a true American state, or Texas. For the record I'm not even American (Italian, European) but even here we managed to know such California liberal 'crypto commie' mentality... this proves how much disgraced said state is :-) True U.S is Texas, Remember the Alamo, and so forth. Hope that Trump will prevail. And btw build that God damn it wall, Americans! :-P
I put plumbers silicone on the rings to keep them from getting damaged. Has worked perfect since 2011. The silicone does not seem to harm the ring rubber integrity either. To swing this sword I have to choke up on the handle putting my hand into the slippery silicone. Any thoughts?
@patteel I have been lucky with the rings so far (1 yr), but I put a silicon based lube on the rings which works great but, the handle is a little slick when you hold it for proper striking leverage.
In all fairness, having one by the door hidden in plane sight so to speak might be a good idea. I love guns, own several. I keep them in my room in a safe. I've been advised by people who know far more about defense that say that is a good idea and you want guns kept at a place you can run to. Having this at an entry way might be a good idea. Run to your guns, if you can't, take a step to a sword. :)

@TaylorOnTheMic Bull, the info about the meat has been there for over a month, I've seen the video before that. Why do you think they cover the floor beneath the meat they cut? Oh that's right, so it doesn't get dirty. And that it's been cut(or mutilated as you say rofl) is hardly going to matter to people who couldn't even afford a proper meal otherwise. Also, that's not soda lol, it's coloured tap water.
My family will never be unarmed if I have a heavy duty sword cane at my front door. Except if someone breaks into our house with a gun...
I HAVE 2 IMPORTANT THINGS TO SAY :
1) WHY MOST EUROPEAN 🇪🇺 COUNTRIES SHOPS " OUT OF STOCK " SINCE MANY MONTHS NOW ( I WRITE THIS COMMENT ON
JULY , 09 , OF 2021.
AND THE COLD STEEL HEAVY DUTY SWORD CANE IS " OUT OF STOCK "
SINCE 7 MONTHS NOW ...
IS COLD STEEL COMPANY HAVING SOME PROBLEM WITH PRODUCTION OF THIS WONDERFUL SWORD CANE ??? 🤔🤙
I AM SO " EXCITED " TO BUY THIS ITEM ! 😃🤩😛👍
2) I HAD THIS SWORD CANE SINCE 4 YEARS AND WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY / GLAD / SATISFIED WITH IT AS I WAS USING IT EVERY SINGLE DAYS ( AS AN EDC
FOR SELD DEFENSE AND AS A VERY GOOD 👍 CANE, I REALLY NEED A CANE SINCE A TERRIBLE MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT THAT HAPPENED MANY MANY YEARS AGO BUT AS MY SPINE WAS BROKEN ( I MIRACULOUSLY SURVIVED BUT ALL DOCTORS ( I WAS THE FIRST ( BACK IN 1986 ) TO FOLLOW AN EXPERIMENTAL PROTOCOL IN THE FAMOUS TAMPA'S CENTRAL HOSPITAL ( FLORIDA, USA 🇺🇸 ) AND IT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS ! ) ... TOLD ME THAT AFTER 40 ( YEARS OLD ) I WILL PROBABLY SUFFER A LOT FROM MY BACK ( THAT'S TRUE BUT WITH STRONG PAINKILLERS I CAN STILL WALK AND EVEN MAKE SOME SPORTS etc ... ) AND END UP IN A ROLLING
CHAIR 💺 ... THEY WERE FORTUNATELY WRONG ABOUT THAT ! I AM CLOSE TO 50 AND CAN DO A LOT OF THINGS, AS WALKING ... BUT A CANE IS VERY HELPFULL FOR ME.
UNFORTUNATELY, LAST WINTER I WAS IN S FRENCH HOSPITAL AND MY CAN WAS STOLEN WHEN I WAD SLEEPING 😴
... SO I AM WAITING FOR THIS CANE TO BE AVAILABLE TO BUY ... 2 OF THEM, DIRECTLY ! 😃👍
IF YOU HAVE SOME INFOS ABOUT AVAILABILITY IN EUROPE 🇪🇺 ... I WOULD BE EXTREMELY GLAD TO KNOW ABOUT IT ! 😊😉🤙👍
THANKS A LOT AND LONG LIFE TO COLD STEEL COMPANY & GREAT QUALITY PRODUCTS !!! 😉🤩💯👍✊🔪⚔🗡🪓🤩
Is it a pig-sticker? Is it a pig-sticker? YOU BET IT'S A PIG-STICKER... hey, Lynn, I think you can stop now, THE PIG IS DEAD.

Deadliest Warrior Season 8 Episode 4:
Grandpa vs. Thug
only if they had a nice sleek purple cane then i can feel like brook
Eh, needs to be a bit fancier. That's just my take.
@pattee You will need to have it done professionally. The tip wont come off or reattach.
holy shit!!!!
AN OLD NINJA!
wow someone is sensitive.don't take it so serious it is just a harmless comment over the internet.also maybe you should get the guy a fan or something next time he is on stage it may help him out alittle. bigger guys tend to work a little harder.anyway peace bros.good luck with sales :)
I wish they'd legalize these things!! It's easier to get and carry around a gun, PS I have this cane and i loved and carried it til someone dropped dime on me
A cane is easier to carry around than a gun? O_o
What is your point?
grammar is important
Rain Stand That is what you get for showing off with it. No one I know, knows there is a sword in my walking stick.
If you have a concealed weapon permit you can carry the cane legally.
I have used mine regularly for a couple of years and no one notices it.
Concealed fixed blade is illegal in California, no matter how long/short the blade is
California is a stupid neoliberal state, a disgrace like Washington, Oregon etc: in CA sword canes are banned, while drugs and gender theories crap absurdities and 'no borders' dieversity and 'white guilt' are ok, lol.
Better Georgia, a true American state, or Texas. For the record I'm not even American (Italian, European) but even here we managed to know such California liberal 'crypto commie' mentality... this proves how much disgraced said state is :-)
True U.S is Texas, Remember the Alamo, and so forth. Hope that Trump will prevail.
And btw build that God damn it wall, Americans! :-P
i find cane swords to be cool
you don't see them coming
I was on the fence about buying one of these but after this video how could I not buy one.
Dear Santa....
Smith&wesson got nothing on you. You guys are the kings of home defense.
Ist a heavy duty sword cane?
Every town has a local creep who walks around with one of these. That guy isn't fooling anyone
I'll tell you what the most popular thrusting motion is...
Do this with an umbrella instead?? :)
BTW great products :D
More deadly than katana
@pkersoul Yeah, I don't personally see the sword as a serious defensive weapon.
Thank you..did and done.
Lynn V Steven Seagal in a sword fight, Lyn gets his a polyprop bastard sword and Seagal gets a bokken. I wanna see that fight.
'make sure there's one in your hall closet'...'you cannot hide from this heavy duty sword cane'; Okay Lynn settle down...nutter.
Fat killer machine
👏👏👏
Loved the video guys. Great concealment weapon, handy for surprising any would-be attackers. Gotta ask, does this cut through a steak in the boo-... Oh, 4:27 of course it can.
Catgirls
@Drmofothegreat cold steel also make extremly tough and durable normal cane. wich can be use as self defence tools too.
I love gold steel sword cane
Is this legal in Colorado?
So if i ever get attacked by a cardboard cut-out, or a pig hanging from a hook, or a suspicious boot filled with meat.... i know where to go.
Great now i want a cold steel knife and a steak
@w00tkid
He sounds like a wonderful kinda guy...
@34601k You really need to get a concealed weapon permit to be 100% legal.
damn, well thanks for letting me know.
you can't hide from this heavy duty sword cane...
chubby boy is reeeallly creepy.
Can this be made shorter ? I want one no longer than 32 inches overall length.
i wonder how manny chops it would take to get through him....
