I'm 66 and bought this sword cane as a novelty. It came lubed with some variant of cosmoline and was sharp. I sharpened it with a few passes on a hand held knife sharpener and now it is lethal. I don't know any thing about sword fighting or martial arts but I would not want my hand to slip off the handle and down the blade during a thrust, it would cut you down and through the bone. I swung the blade full on at some branches in my back yard and it duplicated the results shown on the video's by young trained swordsmen. This sword cane is not a toy and I would never carry it in public.
It's the best sword cane around and the most practical bladed self defense tool I've ever seen. If you buy one sword in your life, it should be this one.
The blade material is advertised as a 1055 Carbon Steel, but when I go in the site it says it’s made out of a stainless steel variant. Did they stop producing them in the 1055 or are they the same metal?
Actually, I've heard some good things on a viking sword from Cold Steel (although I've never seen or handled one my self), since Cold Steel tends to disregard distal taper a bit and most of their sword tend to be a bit heavier towards the tip (like a machete, and maybe a viking sword). So maybe a look to one of those would be cool.
Just had a bad back injury and I'm thinking of buying a cane....then I saw this video and thought why not?? Do you have to get a certain length though? Or do I just let them know I am 5'7"??
Google it friend. There is a certain length for each person. Most canes can be easily shorted with a saw to fit your needs. This cane is on the long side. I’m 6’4 and it was the perfect length for me. You would probably need to shorten it a bit. It’s also made of aluminum, so while you could still cut it, it probably will be a pain in the ass.
Jodi Smith I didn’t mean to sound shitty. Just saying that there is a chart online for the ideal cane size for your height. At 5’7 this one would most likely be a little long for you and I guess they are a bitch to cut because it’s aluminum. There are lots of places that sell sword canes and you can probably find one that will fit you without cutting. This one is honestly not all that great anyway. It’s heavy and the blade is dull as hell out of the box.
Kinda offputting that you say it is high carbon steel but the product description on the KoA website says it's a kind of stainless steel. So what kind of steel is it?
@@DontKeeptheFaith most sword canes have handles that seem too small to get a good grip but this one seems good even if it is totally round. I would consider getting one but alas, live in CA.
@Zodiac Mindwarp Any time I'm tempted to buy a new sword, I try to remind myself that this one covers every practical self defense case that could ever come up.
Ahh yes,.. the felony cane 😂 I was given a “sword can” after my knee surgeries, back to when I was in high school. Anyway I was walking with some friends & we got stopped by police because,.. well it was a group of around 7 teens some black, a couple hispanic, & me. I got to leave in handcuffs with a concealed weapons charge. I got a felony charge over a birthday present. Luckily 2yrs later when I turned 18 I was able to get my record expunged. If you get this idiot stick make sure you look up the laws first of where you live.
I have a bad knee (well both actually) that buckles all the time. Not to the point yet that I need help but to the point where it has entered my mind that I will eventually. Web shoped for a cane, watches Forged in Fire, 1 + 1, looked for a cane sword, ended up on this one. Ordered one, will get it in 2 weeks. I admit that as I'm getting older, less physicaly fit and able (I use to do martial arts and was pretty good at it), I am getting more fearsome when going outside. Will see if this will help.

Are you sure about that 32" length? Because the Cold Steel website shows it as being 37 1/2 inches.

1055 is the steal variant
Slide bite is what it’s called when hand slides onto the blade in the meat cutting industry. When it gets bloody it’s even more slippery.

Very cool! Any rattle when you walk with it? Would it work as a supportive cane or is it too tall?
I can proudly say that since 5/2023 I have one of those babies; one powerful sword
How is it
It's absolutely super I love it@@slywolf2025

Bill, you dont sound shitty at all! It's funny how through messaging, we still attach emotion!!
@Zodiac Mindwarp zodiac mindwarp was a band in the 80's ....is this MM?
Is it double edged
Draw the scabbard with your left hand rather than drawing the sword with your right hand, it will work by itself...
Thank you 🙏🏼

C.S. says it's 3CR13 Stainless Steel, a tool-grade stainless steel. I've tested the blade and it seems to be very sturdy.

Nope it says it's 420 HC stainless steel on my box
