I think the issue for a one off listen of this kind of music is that it doesn’t repeat often on top of being structurally different than most music and complex. For me, this kind of music gets to be really appreciated after 3-5 listens, but that could just be me. This is my fav band, they don’t sound like anyone else and are an honest band that keeps reinventing themselves.
Another thing, the main reason why they don’t get much monthly listens is that they don’t release their albums on streaming services right away. They release their music first on bandcamp, RUclips and Physical formats, then after a couple of months, they release them on Spotify and Apple Music. This makes most of their fan base listen to them on bandcamp, RUclips and physical formats mostly.

the entire album is worth reacting to. its one epic climax after another from the first to the last second. a perfect demonstration of the euphoric orchestral madness i love this band for.

Bit of extra info regarding precision: this album was recorded like 90% of Krallice's albums - all instruments recorded simultaneously in their studio/rehearsal space (so basically a live recording) with only vocals recorded seperately...

Nice review. This is my favorite Krallice record. On the topic of black metal drumming and blast beats: You're correct about the repetition, and I realize you know that's on purpose.
When I was starting to listen to more metal genres that use blast beats, my perspective eventually changed. Whereas other genres use percussion to establish a beat you can move to, blast beats like this establish a foundation that allows the guitars to move around on top of.
So while you and many others may get tired of the repetition, I "sink" into the drums as a sort of substrate that allows me to focus more on the guitars dancing around. To me, a blast beat is like jello that supports everything else. Like vocals in metal, blast beats in black metal aren't the focus. Everything in the song is on the same level.
Just my perspective, but I realize some can't un-focus on the drums.

I really enjoy Krallice, this album especially. I enjoy getting lost in the monotomous pounding, because it's drenched in that droney spacious atmosphere and you also get the variations and melodic payoffs. If you crave for more vocal, tonal and rhythmic variation, then Liturgy is the black metal band for you, Bryan. But you will know, as you've reacted to a few songs of theirs... but who am I kidding? You know as well as me that black metal will never become a genre you will gravitate towards out of free will! 🤣

Highly recommend diving deeper into Colin Marston's discography! I think you've already done Gorguts (also recommend Mick Barr's work) and Behold The Arctopus but I personally really like Indricothere, specifically the track III, but most of all to me his peak is the project Infidel Castro and their masterpiece album Bioentropic Damage Fractal, an absolutely fucking insane mix of avant garde metal, experimental electronic/collage, post rock and drone
Don't know if you'll like it but if you're ever in need if a sonic palette cleanser by way of blowing your brains out the back of your skull you should check it out!

    GENRE:
Krallice are Avant Garde Technical Black Metal (Unique Complex Experimental Beautiful)...
Cool (Cold/Hip) is the perfect word for Krallice...
*With a few exceptions Avant Garde Metal in general gets largely ignored
(Takes too much effort for Instant Gratification Monkeys)
Plus Krallice albums are released independently & don't have very good Marketing/PR (Definitely should be bigger)
    COMPOSITION:
    Harmonic Complexity: Polyphony
*Rarely do they play the same things especially since they are in different tunings most the time
(Their Atheist so its probably Bach/Counterpoint not God your picking up on)
Asymmetrical Harmonic Rhythms & Song Structures
Orchestral (Might take multiple listens to digest its detail)
20th Century Composition Techniques such as Tone Clusters, etc
The Melody is in the Gtrs (& later on Synths) not the vocals
Agree with another comment "Everythings on the same level"
*Calling a band Repetitious that uses Through Composition as much as Krallice does is baffling...
Some songs have so many riffs/parts you wouldn't believe it
    PERFORMANCE:
Few drummers are as Unique as Lev (only uses one Tom/Overhead & a Floor Tom)...
His cymbal work is Amazing, very colorful...
Your mistaken Krallice is actually Rhythmically Sophisticated... need to keep listening (Liberally)
    Irregular Meters & Phrases...
    MISC:
*Blast Beats originated in Jazz (Tony Williams)...
(That doesn't make em better, its just in case you didn't know that)...
*The constant use of Kick/Snare 8th Notes is far more prevalent in all genres...
Maybe its the style of Black Metal (Which relatively is more Unique)...
U hit the nail on the head it shouldn't be "Fixed" the problem lies with the Listeners Perspective
(Don't have to dig the Texture/Bed)...
*Can say every genre is to repetitious when talking about the commercial side of them
(Besides sometimes Repetition can be a Cool thing... but it doesn't really apply to this band)
*All Genres are Over Saturated... have to Dig for the Gold
    RECOMMENDATIONS:
Should check out their new album released this week "Inorganic Rites" hits differently (Masterpiece)
*Love their whole discography but my favorites are the recent albums in the 2020'
    (Great older album "Prelapsarian")
