  • With all the projects that I have going on during the day, its hard to find time to keep the lawn mowed. I have around 6 acres of lawn to maintain and I just cant find the time to get it done before the sun goes down. Now with the added light bars on my Spartan mower I have plenty of light to mow after dark. Its almost just like driving around during the day and for around $70 total cost its well worth it. Now I can focus on building during the day without running out of time to mow the lawn.

    I tried this but the bugs being attracted to the light had them swarming around my head. I found the front above the deck was a better option. I lost a lot light projection doing so but it was a fair trade iff to keep the bugs out of my eyes and nose.

    First time seeing this. I'm definitely going to do it. It's horrendously hot in Georgia in the summer. It would be so nice to mow at night or before sunrise each mornig

    What about the draw on the battery? Generally alternators on mowers barely put out enough amps to keep battery charged as it is.

    You’re crazy. Turned out pretty cool however I would add some of the little square directional LED’s at the front corners of your mower so you can increase the radius of the light. Maybe you can see just fine in person but in the video I wanted to see a wider path.

      @@hickoryridgehomestead9177 If you are using a relay, the amps go through the relay and not the switch. The switch’s job is to energize the relay which then powers the light bar. The original switch would have worked just fine. Relays don’t require much amps to be energized.

    I put a bicycle light on a push mower 60 years ago to mow after work, 1/2 acre, so I think it's great. The light on the front is all you need just to see where your going. But whatever. If you're mowing 6 acres you need a 6-8' foot finish mower on the back of the tractor. It will beat the devil out of the zero turn. You need a bagger on that mower cause I think that stuff is legal just about everywhere now.
    Yell man, bag it man, sell that stuff make some money man. Take care, later, stay safe.

    I appreciate you explaining why you installed your own switch instead of using the pre-installed one. For everyone else asking, he already has a light bar installed on the front (where the default cut out is on the Spartan). This will be the second light bar installed on the mower. Just to be safe, he didn't want two 10 inch light bars running off the control panel as it might've drew too much current, risking damaging the control panel.
    I know some people have said two light bars won't draw too much current, but I agree with you here:
    1. The control panel isn't designed to run two 10 - inch light bars (even if it might be able to do it) and;
    2. That control panel is a $275 part. Can you really blame him for taking the much safer alternative for putting the second light on it's own relay and switch?
    Great video. Nice Tutorial!
