    Nice install! I have the exact same set up on my Husqvarna MZ52. Awesome lights and very inexpensive! I like them soo much I also just installed the same setup again on a new DeWalt 54" zero turn I just picked up.
    I did it slightly different on install, I connect directly to the battery with the ring terminals that came with the led light harness. I removed the included switch as you did and used these switch wires to tie into the key switch. This kept the load off my mowers electrical and directly on the battery. Now is this better for such a low use set up, who knows, the results are the same and the light is amazing! Just another way to do it!

    Nice. What about the combined draw of the lights vs what the alternator can put back into the battery? Generally the alternator on mowers barely puts out enough to charge the battery as it is. Cheers

      I have no clue on the draw. I am sure there is a video that could show me how to figure that out. I never had any issues with it when I used it. Worked perfectly. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Reason for below question👇…I just finished installing a single LED light-bar to front of mine & straight wired it, cause the stock system already had an inline fuse built-in the stock harness…Is it because of the two 🛸 cubes you also mounted…I’m wondering why the need for a relay? Good job, looks great & I feel like an 👽 when I’m mowing!!

      Figured it out!, a no brainer actually. The Apex has a different key switch than the Ikon. The lights actually require a rocker/toggle switch, has a blank in the factory cutout next to the key switch. Went to Lowes and grabbed one. Also ordered the engine guard from Ariens that for some reason they don’t put on this year’s model. According to them it won’t fit but it fits perfectly, now it has the completed look just like on their video. I’m a happy camper now. 🤗

    Where did you get the aluminum bar from do you have a link for it? Also the purpose of a relay is to cut the amps down to the switch or key. The stock terminals going to the light key is designed for a 3 amp fuse. Since you already had the relay, the switch should of been hooked up to the OEM fuse wires and you could of just left it on all the time to close the current and then use the key lights to turn it on and off.

    • @papamvc915
      @papamvc915 10 месяцев назад +1

      And forgot to add that the main wires to power the relay to the battery. This hook then will send under way under 3 amps to your key. The relay takes the load and not your key.

      I didn’t notice any dimming. Only when throttle wasn’t on low would it seem to have any performance issue. Once wired up, you can always just swap the lights if needed. Just leave some extra wire zipped tied in the light locations.
      Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.

      @@theSuburbiaDad I went with the Apex cause I definitely wanted the serviceable hydros. It just sucked that I had to drive down to Louisville, Ky from Indianapolis, Indiana to get the deck size I was looking for. On a funny tip, yesterday was my first time ever on a zero turn. Definitely a learning experience after using the same riding mower since September 2001. Came close to hitting the house and pickup. Found how to adjust the speed. Sure helped my nerves afterwards. 😂

      Finally going to install the lights on my Apex today. It doesn’t have an opening through the frame tube like the Ikon, so haven’t decided how I’ll hide/protect the wires. But going to figure it out today. Still deciding if to install the other pair of the small lights to aim towards the side or rear, which might help when going back into the shed as we start to lose sunlight sooner.

      I don’t have the XD anymore, but I’ve not heard of it having an issue. I do feel mowing batteries only last a few years regardless. Definitely a part designed to fail eventually. You might be able to get longer out it if your trickle charging it when not using it for long periods of time. Thanks for watching and commenting!
