Another great video,my sister lives on the 17 mile drive and my son did his A school for the air force in Monterey as a linguist so we know that area well.
That is an awesome place to have visited enough that you know it well!
We feel the same way about staying in a hotel. We stayed in a hotel for 5 days while we were getting our RV fixed. It was so horrible. We wanted our own bed and sheets. Also, we had to eat out every night. All I wanted to do all week was make a sandwich from our fridge. Lol. We disliked it so much, we toyed with the idea of getting a class B for our Towed vehicle just so we would never have to be without our home again. After full timing for almost a year, I don’t think I can ever go back to living in a sticks and bricks ever again.
The Class B tow vehicle has crossed my mind as well. I am surprised you don't see that more often! I agree with the desire just to have a simple sandwich and soup,........NOW! Getting a home again will be strange,......and it will be half the size of our last one, or less.
Even though I grew up in NJ, I spent most of my summers visiting family in Monterey and it was the best of times. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories.
Our pleasure Robert!
Sue, we so enjoy listening to you explaining about the things you see. You are a very interesting person. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Thanks BV. This is Mark. I too LOVE the time and effort Sue puts into the narrations.
"I know what you guys are thinking, I'm a perfect specimen...." not one wobble from camera-woman; nice work :)
It took 5 takes,......and 4 rewrites.
We so agree with you on Rving vs B & B;s or Hotels....We like the convenience of having everything in our tiny or not so tiny motorhome always with us. Interesting bird do do.....
The B & B thing is awesome for extended stays in selected areas. For general bumming around like RVing is,....it just does work.
my full time has just begun iv learned so much from you
two thanks again great vid
Our pleasure guys!
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. See you next week!
You bet William! Next weeks is some tense travel to Petaluma CA.
That is what life is all about having fun as much as you can. Mark I love it when the engineer comes out to chat.. keep up the great videos. Travel safe
Thanks 👍 Kirk! Wait till you see next week's issues!
Nice tour and scenery, many thanks for the different perspective. Enjoy. Kind regards Gavin
Glad you enjoyed it Gavin.
What a great adventure Mark & Sue! Nor Cal is very beautiful. Thanks for bringing us along. Looking forward to next week’s video.
Next week we travel to Petaluma California,.....and it is quite an adventure.
You have to roll like OJiM, cinnamon roll that is. You keep me inspired and there is no stopping now that we just bought our motorhome on Saturday. We haven’t named it so we will have to check the motorhome name registry. Great video!
That is awesome! Did you order a new Dutch Star to be built, or get one off the lot? I thought you had canceled the first one ordered. Who did you buy from?
Thank you for sharing... we haven’t been to that area in a few years. Love the humor too!
Thanks for watching Pattie!
I’ve seen a few of your videos lately but this is the one that made me subscribe! I really enjoyed it. If this doesn’t make someone want the RV life, nothing will.
Welcome aboard! We try to show it as it really is, and not romanticize it. We are very forthright with how expensive being a full time tourist is. Both partners must be onboard with the decision and on the same page. They need to work together and actually really, really like each other! Then,........a successful full-time RV Life will follow!
Love your friend, Mr. Socko!
Me too!
Really enjoy the engineering parts......you're not the only one......
It's hard turning the old brain off sometimes,.......
I always enjoy your videos, but I think this has been the best. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, thanks Dick! That is a comment from a true fan,.......someone that doesn't demand me reviewing a product, or teaching a lesson on something!
Mark your a Trip ! I Enjoy your Videos.
Thanks a ton Rink! Honored to be among the other channels you follow,....
Love the video. Not full timing still in the dreaming state. My Daughter,, who is in a wheelchair,, would love the bike path and so would I. With you 2 it's like I'm already full timing the way you do your videos. Can't wait till next week. Safe travels.
Thank you for such a wonderful comment Gene.
Thanks again for an entertaining video.
You bet S!
@@OurJourneyInMyles btw, cant stop listening to nigel, such a great album
One of your nicest videos!
Thanks Paul,........we loved to share the serendipity of it all.

The entire United States never fails to deliver!
When I was in Monteray in 2010 I hummed and hawed to whether I should go to the aquarium. It was $35 entry and $15 for parking. Of course, my Scottish heritage kicked in and just could not justify it, especially when converted to Canadian dollars. I think in the back of my mind I said I go next time. There are better odds that Santa gets a tattoo and joins a biker gang than me returning to Monteray before I die. Not the first time I have blown an opportunity I will never have again. By the way, the aquarium is one of the best in the world. Forward-thinking displays and exhibits happen here first and then they are copied around the world.
I did go to the Boeing plant in Everet, Washington which required stalling my trip and trying to find accommodation for the night as I had missed the last tour. They should have paid me, it was just a big hangar with planes being made not worth the effort.
The aquarium was closed. We actually were just in the mood to sight see the easy way with Ray driving us all around. That is a real treat for Sue & I.
@@OurJourneyInMyles That is one of the primo ways of touring a place. No worries, just enjoy. I like travelling but I generally find the return visit to a destination more enjoyable. Since I know the lay of the land already, there are just less decisions to make and thusly less to stress about. Plus I also have all the positive feelings/memories from the previous visits to quell any anxiety that one might feel. I guess that is one of the reasons that some people enjoy owning a cabin/cottage. A return to the known. The lack of being an a explorer (still a timid one) of new places would bore me.
BNA... old people. You gotta love them.❤❤❤
Yes,........keep moving,.........and keep evolving before they throw dirt on you,.....
@@OurJourneyInMyles I just subscribed to your channel. Love your content.
Mark you are a blessed man to have Sue and love you both
I agree with that assessment William,.......
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching Ricky!
Another awesome video! You too are so cute 🥰. Thanks for taking us along on another journey through California. Those bike trails are amazing! I hope we get out there in our travels some day 😊.
California is a state with a lot to offer to tourists and travelers.
Beautiful video, nicely done. Hi from Mount Horeb
Hey, thanks Stephen!
Keep up the great work, i'm living my life through you guys
Thank you! Will do Pauul! We will try to keep us all safe!
What friends dont realize is that every night for 365 days a year you are travelling as full time. So it isn't like you are going for a two week vacation where you can splurge on the five star hotels etc. This is life. You bought a Class A which was probably as expensive as a small home and your costs are equal to what you would spend running and living in that sticks and bricks year round, only you get the luxury of a new backyard every week and exciting places to see instead of the same four walls.
We have been full time since June of 2017. We wouldn't change our decision to do this,......and we would still have bought Newmar. This life has gotten crazy expensive, and we will be publishing an update to our "Cost to RV" spreadsheets in a few months. The old "no such thing as a free lunch" is definitely true,....but life is short, especially when you are closer to the finish line. We are going for the adventure while we still can.
Brought back memories of our Lake Tahoe trip that was cut short our first day there by a forest fire! We decided to make our way back home and took the scenic route through San Francisco south to Monterey (we stayed there 2/3 days) and down along the coast back to Phoenix… it was great and you re-kindled our memories for the worst trip/best trip of our lives.
PS : we don’t remember having to pay for 17mi. Drive ? This was 15 years ago ?
Not sure of the history on when they started charging that toll. We thought it was well worth the price of admission!
Great days spent with friends! I’ve been to Monterey too and I loved it! I love little towns too….they always have great food, shops, and things to see and do.
Totally the best of the tourist lifestyle!
Omg, I don’t own an RV but I really enjoy watching your channel and I can’t believe you were latest video you literally rode your bicycle through my neighborhood. Through San Ramon when you stopped at the market place. And you are staying at the fairgrounds where every year I enjoy the fair it is a really good one. And you are correct Danville is a really nice quaint town. Enjoy your Journeys
Thanks Ken,.......you made a wise choice living in the Danville area.
OMG what a great vid, love you guys and the town is right up my street too x
Thanks for the great and kind comment Valerie!
Thank you for your great video ,i appreciate
You are welcome Yves! Thanks for always stopping in,.....
Hello Mark and Sue really enjoyed the video. Tough call on my favorite part that display case full of chocolate treats was in first place until Marks structural walkthrough, loved it as a fellow retired engineer I would have enjoyed more. What a rats nest that pier was with all the treated lumber propping up all that rotten wood. I wouldn't want to be there during a serious storm
I kept thinking of the clocking ticking on this real estate investment!
Loved this video Mark and Sue. Thank you! Glad you showed how it came about you got into seeking your sticks and bricks and full time Rv. Nice to see you spend time with friends. Danville’s nice. And Monterrey. My friends son lives there. In Monterrey. California is beautiful. Where you were is beautiful. Thank you Mark and Sue for this video. Have a great week and see you soon!
Glad you enjoyed it Sherri. We will be in a few National Parks soon. Stay tuned.
@@OurJourneyInMyles Oh ok good! I can’t wait to see the video.
Very interesting tour, history lesson and tour. Thanks for taking us along! Enjoy the summer of 2021 - sure is different from last year!
Glad you enjoyed it Jim. We are still looking for our groove.
Like your shirt Lady!
Hey Cindy! Hope Sue sees this comment. She is in WI visiting her mom, and I am in WA state with Myles visiting my son. She flies back next week, and may not have seen your "keen eye comment".
When you get to Oregon make sure you tour Newport.
Then in Wisconsin be sure to include Cedarburg.
We will miss Newport. Sue actually has been in Wisconsin visiting her mother. Cedarburg WI is a gem and a treasure at the same time! The Cedarburg Art Festival and the Strawberry Festival are reason enough to make a date to go their!
Sorry to hear you wont make Newport. Maybe next time.

We used to use close to Monterey….we have been there at green fish market many times
Sue and I love to stroll around places like we showed here. We had a great dinner in Carmel by the Sea.
Great video thx for your story
Glad you enjoyed it Dennis.
Just wonderful! Thanks, so much for taking us along. Mark, did you get the icing on the Cinn Roll? Sweet treats on a Sunday!

Muddy Sneakers, Pa.
When Sue was editing the video, we saw that the point I was trying to make about this bakery was missing! I LIKE CINNAMON ROLLS WITHOUT FROSTING. Almost no places offer this option. In Pismo Beach CA. I was able to get some as well.
Great video
Thanks Greg.
We fell in love with the whole Monterey Peninsula too! when we visited! So glad y'all did the 17 mile drive and got to see it's real beauty. Safe travels guys! 🍷Cheers!
Sue and I loved being chauffeured around by Ray!
@@OurJourneyInMyles ❤️
Great video! You should upgrade your CPap mask. The new ones don't have that plastic part on the forehead. Got my new mask last year.
Thanks for the tip! I really like this mask style and fit. I actually have about two more of them I carry as spares!
Can Ray stop by our home in Arizona and push us over the edge towards the RV life?
It’s a difficult decision, the “security” of a house with its endless storage and constant maintenance. Or what’s down that road, it may be interesting.
My advice would be to keep your house if you like the area, and want to live their into your declining years. Use the house as home base, and sort of as a storage locker. You can only be full time with a good plan to keep the house in one piece. In our case, WI was going to be too cold and gloomy. We sold the house and parked the money in the bank. We own our rig and cars outright. You have to have the finances to switch from one life to the other,......AND BACK.
We're with you Mark / Sue make mine a comfortable suite on wheels ...Thanks for the vid .
No problem 👍 Eskimo. Doesn't cost anymore to travel in style,...you just can't stay as long,......
My wife and are going to pull the Trigger on a 2021 American EAGLE Class A 4 slides 605 cummins and 12.5 conan Gen

@@OurJourneyInMyles it was a tough division i am 70 this will be the last 9ne .

I told the people who wants to buy my coach they better get with it .
Because i will trade it
Amazing sites beautiful place.
It really is! Danville CA is as cute as it gets!
Nice vid, really enjoyed!!!
Awesome, thank you TP!
@@OurJourneyInMyles 👍👍👍😊
There’s a difference between vacationing for a few weeks a year and touring the country full time lifestyle. Most people do not have the means to tour the country full time in a 5 star hotel for years on end. They’re missing the point. The last time I checked, there are no 5 star hotels in the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yellowstone, etc… I can’t think of a better way to see and experience the country than in an RV. 5 star hotels are overrated. Have you traveled the length of Hwy 1?
The combined expense of depreciation, maintenance, and up keep would be less than a 5 star hotel over equal periods.
Very well said Road Hog. I loved the comment about a 5 star hotel not being near Death Valley and Yellowstone. It really is about how much you want to spend on the experiences you will have if you CAN afford it,.............and weather or not it will bother you when your 80 and you can no longer do it.
Depending on where you’re going and how far north I am going to catch up with you guys eventually. Thomyt
We are in Seattle, heading to Glacier National Park.
I’ve done this route many times.. this is California at its finest
California is one heck of a long state.
Great Video Guys love it Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it James.
I like the video
Thanks,.....
You guys are so fun. I look forward to going there one day. Did you find it difficult to drive your motor home in CA. My husband is scared to death of the traffic. Do you stay away from major highways?
California hasn't been as bad as I thought, BUT,........Sue takes ALL the stress off me because she is an AWESOME navigator. We ONLY travel the major highways. It's the small roads and side trips that are scary for a big rig.
Thank you for taking us all along. Good friends will always get you in trouble......lol, my question for you, how many people have you lead into the RV life? Love your videos .
Good question! We hope we have helped folks make good decisions along the way on their adventure, no matter how they are choosing to travel!
@@OurJourneyInMyles once again, love your video’s, be safe, hope to see you on the road.
Can I ask what brand of ebike you guys have? They look fantastic.
They are the Elux Brand Malibu GT Model Ebikes. I think that for RVers, it makes the most sense to get the best FOLDING bike you can get. We are currently storing and hauling them in a minivan. Not sure what tow vehicle would work as good for us.
Mark is a Specimen!!!🤔🤣
I should of started a RUclips channel back when I had hair!
Some day we will cross paths. I'm an older poop than you and wanted to comment that It's not so easy being a man god such as ourselves. Women swooning in our paths is a constant problem. ; ).
Visit Knotts Landing if you have the chance. Not so sure if big rig friendly though.
At my age, women swooning in my path just make me worry about stumbling and sustaining a hip injury.
Oops, Moss Landing.
Did you pack wrist guards, teeth grinder guard?
Wrist guards have been retired after surgery, but I still use (and recommend) the dental mouth guard!
@@OurJourneyInMyles Was Ray part of the youthful raid of the Grebiees Bakery carts ?
Thank you Mark and Sue,
Another great video. Amazing how we take a sudden turn in life.
Hope to meet up with you someday
Jeff
Serendipity is a gift from above. If a person is able, they have to take advantage of it. You might only get one chance,.....
Did you go to the Aquarium
No. The aquarium was still closed. We hear that it is first class!
Its all about what you can tolerate.
If i moving every 1 or 2 days no RY
If i can not stay 28 days i refuse to stop
If fact you giys move to much for me .
I am retired
We are moving a lot now to get to a few stops to meet friends. We will stay a month in Wisconsin and 3 months in Florida.
Marko the engr: salt water + a little erosion + unanticipated extra dead and live loads + maybe the occasional earthquake......what could possible happen to that pier?.......Don't be standing so close!!!
Wow,........I'm even more worried about the pier now!
People that live in and out of hotels motels five star resorts might just not have ever tried an rv. I would rather be in my fith wheel than in my sticks and bricks.
We agree with you. To us, at our stage in life, travel schlepping suitcases is no fun at all, and I'd rather stay home.
The "mask" thing is sad! You guys have awesome videos! California is a joke!
Thanks!
