- I definitely could have done better on this; I was really just anxious to get this out on youtube because there weren't any other TASes of this boss at the date of publishing.

This boss is the most anime thing i've ever seen in a rom hack and ive seen a lot of rom hacks. I love how you progressively become immune to all the boss's attacks while gaining new abilities as well.
The more I think about this battle.
I think one thing to note about this segment of the rom hack is that this is an unseen form of platforming and RPG.
Evading attacks and laying the traditional Mario stomping, along with BP, battle points per action with launching attacks on the move and the continuous adrenaline that's different from the usual RPG from taking turns.
It all keeps going and truthfully an underrated form of fun gameplay. Not to say it's original, because that's hard to come by.
But this makes the battle interesting because it mixes two forms of currently exisiting games from Mario World & Romancing Saga 2.
I haven't come across an official game like this, but it would be a nice change of pace from both genres.

Super Paper Mario should have played like this but all enemis die in 1 or 2 hit and dont have much in term of attack patern. This is a god tier boss fight.

I use to be frightened when I first saw it.
Then got use to it and remembered its a parody boss of Romancing Saga 2.
I saw this when I was a kid. I found it terrifying and didn't find it again, until now, 2019
the world didn't deserve brutal mario, it was so epic it just straight up became romancing saga 2 at the end.

I honestly wonder how Super Kitiku World ended up as "References to Japanese SNES RPGS".

The fact that the creator was Japanese themselves. SNES was riddled with JRPGs in their homeland.
About 10 years ago this thing scared the shit out of the young me!
I didn't understand english at the time, and much less japanese, so I had no idea of what I was seeing but it was cool anyway.

I like how everything Mario understands about the world unravels in front of him for almost 10 minutes & then he just walks away from the insanity & kills himself.

I have no idea what I'm looking at, other than a Super Mario RPG/World blend with a Fusion-Hah'd Koopa kids fighting mario. I really wish I could understand the text, might make this more enjoyable. It is still interesting, but confusion levels are high.
It's an affectionate parody of the end boss of Romancing Saga 2. The lightbulbs that show up above Mario are "glimmers", or techniques learned in the heat of battle. SOURCE: played the ps2 remake of RS1

Wendy was desperate to save her injured brothers, so she formed some kind of golem in order to keep them from dying. A monster made out of a sister's grief.

Given that it is copied, it required a complete recoding to fit the the architecture of SMW.
This is pretty much Mario's most epic battle in history. Does anybody know if Carol will finish this game any time soon? Fans like myself have been waiting a long time.
Unfortunately no, Carol ended development a long time ago. I don't know his current status but I assume he is dead.
I'm reimaging this project as a fan game for windows(maybe some other platforms) I just haven't found the right framework to achieve my vision.
If this rom hack was finished it could have been the best of all SMW rom hacks, it’s a shame it wasn’t

@DarkStarboye I would agree with you, however I believe it is more than a miniboss. It is the second to last boss in the game. Actually it is the last, and since the hack appears to have been discontinued, I don't think this will ever be anything but the final boss.

This was the first thing I thought of when I saw the Romancing SaGa 2 remake in the Nintendo Direct yesterday.
@sue41366 1. It made me do the "blink" thing you get in mario games typically after you die (used to avoid danger)
2. Press up+b to power up for as long as the jump lasts, basically.
@MegaZack30 It doesn't mean that you're low on time. It means you're nearing the end of the boss battle. The sample is played twice to show that it's NOT the classic SMW "100 seconds left" timer.

This boss took me like an hour and a half to beat on stream last night - it goes on waaay too long. It is very cool though.

i would expect the final boss to be stronger and more threatning than the koopalings turned into naked mutated humanlike things

It takes a skill away from Mario. You must gain it back; that is why I was able to learn many skills over and over.

Yes. It was hard making this TAS because of all of the fails. I decided I would try it one more time, and Viola! It worked perfectly. I have no idea why, though. And yes, the quotes were to say that this was not the final boss, and that you could go down to meet bowser, in a falling battle.
BTW, the description is just a placeholder until I think of another.

oh yes, machine code is easy to find. in fact, it is the raw bytes in the file. anyone could find the machine code for anything. however, reading it is an entirely different animal. machine code is often long and confusing. as a result, only the writer of the code can understand it for more complex projects, such as FUCKING HUGE BOSSES xD

After they're fathers defeat, Wendy O Koopa makes herself the boss as She thinks she's the smartest out of the other 6. But when Mario shows up, An unknown power swirls around Wendy O Koopa and the other Koopalings, Mario has fought them along with Luigi and the rest of the good guys. But Mario has never seen anything like this! A dark red blob with the upper halves of the 7 Koopa kids! Even Mario thinks this is shocking to him!

@SidekStepM Thanks. There is, regrettably, no complete version. Nopony really knows why, but my guess is that Carol ran out of memory to put the rom in. You see, SMW roms can not exceed 4mb of space. If you pack it full, there isn't much that can be done. To my knowledge, Carol pretty much... disappeared. This hack was probably discontinued, seeing as there has been no update on it from the creator himself in excess of 3 years.

theoretically, someone could finish the hack, but one of the reasons super mario world is so hard to hack is that we have no source code for the game. and though there is a program for level placement, graphics, and music, hackers must disassemble the machine code and add to it for custom things such as this. Since it's low level programming, it's hard for anyone but the writer to understand.
Indeed there is. This is a boss similar to a certain boss from the Romancing SaGa. Don't ask me about that, though, as I've never played Romancing SaGa.

@tr9536on Thanks for that update. I'm still quite skeptical however; it's been >2 years and I haven't seen anything. I always heard he ran out of memory (because smw only has 4mb available) and was unable to continue.
holy shit, I know this is 12 years old, but tr9536on is my original channel lol, and that was possible, but looking at the rom seemed like there was enough space, he also could have freed up other space in the rom in other ways, and nowadays we got the SA-1 pack which can expand the rom to 8mb, granted that didn't exist back then lol

I'm not sure if Bowser is the final boss either. Defeating him leads to the secret exit, which unlocks the last of three stage in the Luigi world that creates a path to the castle. Think of the overworld stage unlocking layout as the Lost World of Donkey Kong Country 2. So I'm pretty sure that Peach and Luigi are gonna be among the last bosses in the completed hack.
That's why final is in quotes on this video title.

They are not really comparable, no, just the sheer difficulty. I personally expected "brutal" mario to be like I wanna be the guy-ish, though I have to say, this is very well made.
