Clout of the Dominus can also be used to give an opponent's voltron commander shroud. It would make it so they'd need to find a way to remove the Clout of Dominus, you, or their own creature in order to get back on track.
I run Charmed Pendant in my Sidisi, Brood Tyrant list and yeah, it's kinda terrible sometimes but I love how it makes people scratch their heads, I love looking at an old card, and sometimes when it hits, it really hits!
So strange you point out Charmed Pendant today. I literally just ordered one a couple days ago for my Mothman Mill/Radiation deck. The rate isn't amazing, but a guaranteed self mill effect each turn is great and about half the cards in the deck have between 1 and 3 colored mana pips, so its a fun sort of chaotic mana rock as well. Icing on the cake is the old bordered foil treatment, which I think are just beautiful cards. Really didn't expect to see someone recommending it.
Really enjoy these types of videos. I only started playing MTG around Kaladesh so anything before that is all new to me. Playin commander see the a lot of the same older cards, so seeing something new is exciting. I really like it when you recommend Common or Uncommon cards! Budge is always a consideration.
Choice of Damnations, I run that in vialsmasher/Skakshima. 6mana = 6 damage at random x the amount of vialsmasher clones, plus the effect at the target. Excellent late game bomb that you are correct about, it gets better the later in the game you hit with it.
Charmed Pendant would probably fit pretty well in my River Song deck. A lot of the deck is designed to control the top and bottom of the library. Scrying, returning things from the graveyard to the bottom, etc. Once River is on the field I sometimes lose access to the top card, and that could be super useful in the deck.
Interesting cards. War Cadence is an underrated gem (if it hasn't already been on one of these lists) that I'd personally pick over Close Quarters. War Cadence is a neat way of making your creatures difficult to block or just outright unblockable. And it has the added bonus that you could also activate it during an opponent's combat when they're attacking someone else and just let them knock someone else out for you. 😂
There's a whole cycle of them spread throughout Shodowmoor/Eventide and most of them are good. Shield of the Oversoul and Steel of the Godhead are the best
I have Choice of Damnations in my “only cards with white beards in the art” Saruman of Many Colors deck. I have Charisma in my “Deck of Many Things Dungeons & Dragons” Tiamat deck. I have cleansing meditation in my Rebecca Guay “Persecuted Artist” enchantress deck which also runs Sterling Grove and Greater Auramancy.
I'm not sure if you've covered it yet, but there is a card in my collection that I have found at once fascinating and intriguing: it's called "Dovescape", it costs a bit of hybrid white/blue mana, and it has the effect where it automatically counters noncreature spells and puts a bird in place instead. (I think it's the first nc card played each turn? Otherwise you would have to use a creature's rider to remove it ever) But yeah, it just intrigues me as a sort of Stax/Control that you just set it down to do its thing, and it's hard to get rid of since, again, it turns noncreature spells into bird tokens.
It’s all non creature spells. I use it in my Rigo streetwise mentor deck that has lots of control elements on creatures and enchantments. Definitely something once you’re set up and this resolves, you’re unlikely to lose.
the problem i see with choice of damnations is that unless they have a super go wide deck they'll just chose the number of permanents they control, go down to almost zero, and then punish you on their turn. in the use case where they pick around their life total they'll save as many lands as possible and put you into the lead, which is bad because you just took a turn off to cast a spell that doesn't advance your own board. Its neat because you don't see it often, but the amount of synergy you need to be running to make this card good is pretty high.
Cleansing Meditation is in my Shrines Matter deck and it goes INSANE if I have the enchantress with constellation to draw cards. Also shrines trigger my commander to make more shrines so nice instant boardstate!
Not only is Choice of Damnations good, its also painted by a Hildebrant. It's winning all around. Ooof, Coffin Queen is a little expenchos I wasn't expecting more than $2 for any of these. :')
Oh i already use Cleansing Meditation in my Sythis aura deck. It's ungodly fast, it's a one shot cannon, the deck features plenty of protection, the only downside is i can't use enchanted evening so i can turn my Cleansing Meditation into a Ruinous Ultimatum for lands as well for my opponents. 😆
On Clout of the Dominus I really like those cards from Shadowmoor/Eventide. Steel of the Godhead, Favor of the Overbeing and Shield of the Oversoul all do work in my Tuvasa deck. Only bad one I'd say is Edge of the Divinity where they probably seemed to run out of steam.
Was not aware of Choice of Damnation. I'm tempted to play it, seems like a really fun way of interacting. Would love to see a version of this that hits ALL opponents but this template is already really strong. Might make want to build a spell copying deck lol. Also, as a casual Cloud of Cover enjoyer, it does work people, especially in an ETB/Panharmonicon type of deck.
I have a Tibor and Lumia deck!! But I go the board wipe route so Charisma doesn't work very well. I prefer the Gorgon's Flail and Basilisk's Collar. :) Though I do run Willbreaker. Charisma has been on and off my list for years
Honestly all the Demigod auras are pretty solid IIRC it's Clout of the Dominus Shield of the Oversoul Steel of the Godhead Runes of the Deus Edge of the Divinity Favor of the Overbeing Helm of the Ghastlord Fists of the Demigod Gift of the Deity Scourge of the Nobilis
I have seen Clout of the Dominus in quite a few combat-based Spellslinger decks (Narset, Enlightened Exile being one of the ones I see it in the most).
I think both Coffin Queen and Choice of Damnations would go well in my Seizan, Perverter of Truth deck. I built it around the "perverting truth" theme, so lots of instead / replacement effects. Both of those seem aligned with that idea. Now the only problem is, what am I gonna take out to make room???😮
I'm putting Choice of Damnation in my Blim comedic genius deck. I'll promise my opponents that i'll only pick sacrifice if they pick a really low number, it'll work best if i've given them really bad cards.
Hey Demo, I have a (probably stupid) off topic question for you. But you might be a good person to ask since you have old cards and a big collection. What is your opinion on card grading? I've seen some videos of people sharing their experiences. And it's... well... Let's call it interesting. I've considered sending some cards to an European grading company. But now I feel super conflicted. Do you have any experience with that? I know your channel is less about collecting, but I'd love to hear your opinion. I don't know if that would be worth a video. But I'd definitely watch it. Edit: I aways wanted to build a deck around Charmed Pendant. Great to see it once more. And I also need to find a way to buid an Enduring Renewal deck.
Okay, question about Cleansing Meditation... The wording says all cards destroyed this way. If you turn a non-enchantment permanent into an enchantment then play Cleansing Meditation... It'll bring it back, won't it?
Charmed Pendant seems good in WUBRG themes where you fill your deck with cards with all 5 pips, or in Devotion. How does it work with hybrid mana? Do you get both or a mana that has to be used for one or the other but not both?
Enchantment removal needs to be accessable to all colors at a resonable rate. Practically all other permanenttypes can be interacted with at a resonable rate (artifacts can somewhat resonably destroy other artifacts) by most colors, so why do they get a pass? Personally i would love to see something loke a 6 mana colorless card that destroys any permanent and costs 3 if you have 3 of the same basic or something simmiliar to help decks with low color identity. Currently the cheapest way is bladegryff prototype which requires teamwork.
That Choice of Damnations card would work very nicely in at least one of my Commander decks. Were actually a couple cards that I found pretty interesting in this video. Thanks :)
I think some people misread Choice of Damnations. They read it as they sacrifice that many permanents rather than all but that many permanents. It's worth a few bucks though, so plenty of people see its value.
@@ThePestilentDefilerThe context is I'm not stupid enough to run and cast a 6 mana spell whose textbox can be blanked by thinking about it for two seconds, but then again everybody does just choose 0 before I'm like "Take another pass at that and count your blessings that I'm nice," so who knows :P
Oh hell yes, I'm putting choice of damnation in my Hidetsugu and Kairi deck. If I top deck the card they take 6 dmg from my commander before I cast it for free. I'm evil
I could only see Choice of Damnations being useable where you get some added synergy with either choice; otherwise if you just want a late game wincon, cast torment of hellfire or a merchant of asphodel and kill everyone. I cannot see ever using Cleansing. If your opponents have that much land compared to you, just Armageddon.

I've been running Choice of Damnation in a monoblack control deck and it's really fun.
Always works as intended.
Clout of the Dominus can also be used to give an opponent's voltron commander shroud. It would make it so they'd need to find a way to remove the Clout of Dominus, you, or their own creature in order to get back on track.
Nice to see Clout of the Dominus. You really could do a whole installment of this series focusing just on cards from the Lowryn/Shadowmoor block.
These have become my favorite MTG videos on RUclips. Thanks Demo.
Awright, you won me over on Choice of Damnation. That would be so funnier to see a crew wrap their heads around resolving this beauty
If you like that, you mat also like Measure of Wickedness from the same set. It is essentially a “hot potato” enchantment.
I used to run enchanted evening and cleansing meditation, nasty combo :)
Cloud cover would also do really well in a blink theme. It's protection that also lets you redo ETBs.
Charisma and Thrashing Wumpus has always been a scary combo.
Cleansing meditation + enchanted evening seems fun :)
Made deck on it with opalescence.
Coffin Queen - you forgot to mention that you can sac the creature after it enters, reusing ETB/ETG. It doesn't get exiled when it dies.
the art alone is a great argument for playing it lol
I picked up choice of damnations last time you brought it up in this series. Great card.
I run Charmed Pendant in my Sidisi, Brood Tyrant list and yeah, it's kinda terrible sometimes but I love how it makes people scratch their heads, I love looking at an old card, and sometimes when it hits, it really hits!

Just won a game last week with Charisma in my Tibor and Lumia deck. Felt great to take all non flyers
I really hope somebody makes a five color Commander deck that is exclusively filled with cards from this series just to see if anything works
Choice of damnnations is a house in Vialsmasher/Skashime

Great series. Can't wait for the next episode!
Coffin Queen was one of my favorites. Still have my copy from when she was new.
Close Quarters, being a four mana enchantment, also works pretty well with Bello, Bard of the Brambles.
Clout of the Dominus seems good. That set has others that are good as well.
There's a whole cycle of them spread throughout Shodowmoor/Eventide and most of them are good. Shield of the Oversoul and Steel of the Godhead are the best

Clout of Dominus is really nice for Jeleva. She really needs both the haste enabler and the protection, for 1 mana it's awesome

re choice of damnations: when i read it i read it backwards too. confusing card but you're right, a good one!
Charmed Pendant is a nice idea, will try it in my Elminster deck, thx!
Cleansing meditation seems like a wincon for my sagas deck :)
Just built a coram deck and will be including charmed pendant now! Idk how I missed this one
I like almost all of the Auras from Eventide/Shadowmoor and surprised they aren't more common
Charmed pendant is such a funny card to use. I use it all the time in ramos
