I audibly gasped loud enough in excitement seeing her name in the title that I woke up my poor unsuspecting baby, lol. She's one of the few living feminist activist figures from the second wave still around sadly that I very deeply admire... I loved a conversation she had with bell hooks about religion several years ago lol. hooks was one of my idols, but probably the only thing I disagreed with her on was religion. (More in alignment with Mandissa Thomas personally, lol.) But they still had a wonderful, thoughtful, respectful and hilarious conversation about religion and feminism, I think with The New School. But it's so cool you two had that connection so long ago, and y'all really do look the same, lol. Speaking of other feminist activists... I don't know if Suzanne Pharr has ever identified publicly about her religious beliefs or lack thereof, but I know she's still active in her work, and her book "In the Time of the Right" reads like it was written just yesterday (unfortunately...), but it's still to this day an eerily insightful look at how the conservative party has become such a dominant force in the last several decades. But she has so much amazing work she's done too on the Right's power, racism, and Christian hegemony, especially growing up LGBTQ+ in the Bible Belt (like I have, too, lol) and other issues dealing with religious forces shaping our society, and I bet an interview with you all about Christian nationalism, oppression, etc. would be amazing, as well as Paul Kivel who does a lot of work like I do on the nonprofit industrial complex and Christian hegemony and other social justice issues. Thank you so much for this. This just made my night, lol!
"The TRUTH will set you free, but first it will piss you off" - Gloria Steinem The quote: The truth will set you free originates from John 8:32 Holy Bible, then utilized by Gloria Steinem a radical feminist from the 1960's with the identical ideology as the new LGBTQ+ ideology. ✌🍁⚓ Peace, eh
I wish you guys would break up some of these talks...I want to listen but when I'm on RUclips I don't usually have time for a full program. Make some 5-10 min segments that I can watch and share. I know it seems lazy, but I want to share with others and nobody is going to watch a 30-60 min video I share.
Thanks Gloria Steinem and Annie Laurie Gaylor for a wonderful interview. Hope to see more of Gloria in 2023!
