TF2 is a game of which has many mechanics, some being well known, some being abandoned and some being forgotten. Today we discuss a TF2 mechanic which was once changing the game but today is forgotten, this is mainly due to Valve almost scrapping the idea and only leaving us with the ruins of what they used to be. If you are a OG TF2 fan, I hope this TF2 video gives you a sense of nostalgia about the good ol' days of Team Fortress 2 (TF2).

@soldier unfortunately with the lack of TF2 updates nearly everything has been done to death.
I can recommend GX, it's worth it just for the integrated ad blocker, and i suppose you might also like the integrated Whatsapp, twitter and VPN capabilities.
But if you have chrome with adblock, there is not that much point

this feels like a short, not really a problem but you can definitely feel the influence of the many shorts WAMO has been pumping out quite a lot

I feel like they were removed for being potentially pay-to-win, seeing as how each set required a hat to get the effect.
But the powers the sets gave you were put into a set weapon. Example: the pyro gas station set gave you more speed, and that speed was put into the powerjack.

The Croc-o Style Kit was the best anti-sniper main troll kit available, the amount of times I caused snipers to rage by them headshotting me down to 1hp only for me to kill them and taunt wave them.
While Item Sets are interesting to expand upon, I do think their effects should be only cosmetic. The current special gravestone if I remember correctly is negligible, respective effects upon the user such as unique killfeeds, killed enemies getting gibbed, or a special trail would make the item sets more worthwhile imo.

I was listening to the 60 seconds ost, the song legit called 60 seconds, and I laughed when you said “let me explain in 60 seconds or less” and that theme was stuck in my head

Valve should add 'weapon hats' that are dropped for f2ps as well that are specifically used for a set with a set gameplay bonus or you can just use as a normal cosmetic. Seperate from actual p2p cosmetics
The problem with that is that players need a different playstyle if they wanted to use that set of weapons with the chosen cosmetics. The fluidity of cosmetic customisation is lost in exchange for changes in gameplay, which was why set stat changes were removed (I believe).
I would have mentioned all the details that lead up to the removal of the sets, but still a decent amount of information all in 5 minutes

The croco style kit would be a good counter to the bot problem if it was still around, and to amby spies, but it wouldn’t work with the razorback, so it wouldn’t be a total counter

If I ever follow through on my dream of making tf2 videos, I want to make one about every single item set with weapons and what kind of playstyle and strategy they promote.

Im happy item sets that granted actual in game bonuses were changed, Mostly as it had a rather "P2W Bonus" Vibe which i feel valve wanted to avoid. Silent DR Decloak comes to mind
i have no issue with item sets that just give a cosmetic bonus, and i feel like the ones with calling cards should have been changed to have a much more unique cosmetic effect rather than just the dull calling cards

These sets came out way before 2013, I remember. Maybe they removed those buff in 2013 instead.

You should've explained that Valve removed the bonus item set buffs and gave one of the items in the set a similar stat so the weapon isn't underpowered.
-The increase max hp from the Milk Man set was replaced with +20% healing for the Shortstop (which was bugged so Valve changed it with a shove).
-The headshot immunity from the Croc-o-Style set was replaced with increased bullet resist for the Danger Shield (which was super broken for Sniper so they changed it to fire ressist).
-The 20% sentry resist from the Tank Buster was changed with 50% sentry resist if the Battalion's active.
-The increased movement speed from the Gas Jockey set was changed with increase movement on the Power Jack.
-While the reduced cloak sound for the Saharan Spy set is changed with increase cloak duration for the LeTranger (because reduce cloak sound is too broken with the DR).
You also missed a few more item sets for Medic, Heavy and Demo (Engi is the only class without a set and these sets don't require a hat to have the bonus stat).
-Medic had a Med-Evil set (Crossbow and Amputator) that gave +1hp per second (which was changed to giving up to +3hp per sec for the Amputator when active).
-Hibernating Bear set for Heavy (Brass Beast, Steak and Warrior's Spirit) to have 5% crit immunity (which was changed to 20% damage resist when under half hp for the Brass Beast)
-Finally the Expert's Ordanance set for Demo (Loch n Load and Caber) for 10% fire resist (I think they removed it and buffed the Loch n Load to having 3 pipes instead of 2).
You've basically covered what many TF2bers talked about years before (which isn't bad but you somehow missed all of the other important information in this topic which would explain why this video is so short) put a little more effort into your future videos next time because this video would've been even better and more informative if you further elaborated on why Valve removed these item sets.

I first started use the tank buster set in MvM because of the name but I didn’t realise how affective it is so I definitely recommend it for MvM (also calling cards on dead robots is kinda funny)

my idea is to bring back item sets but make the hats randomly drop at the same rate as the weapons so its not p2w
Probably it was replaced to be a calling card to prevent TF2 to be a Pay2Win-e type of game since cosmetics costs money or unless your lucky to get a cosmetic drop.
I feel like this mechanic discourages loadout experimentation

I am pretty sure equipping certain sets for in game bonuses is a mechanic. You are performing an action in order to gain a benefit in the gameplay.
