I like them all.. I wish the TT 02br came out years ago as i already have two tt-02b chassis with lots of pop-ups.. I won one of them from Tamiya USA and they sent me all the reinforced composite hop ups for it
Well you give a ton of detail about those choices. I am just assembling my very first TT-02 now gifted from the RC Elf, so I have much catching up to do before I can "play with the big boys" 😂😂😂 Cheers!
The Hotshot. I like the raised roof line. It make it look less 'sat on' and the driver has a proper view. That has always put me off the HS in the past. That livery though? No, bin it. Will the Tamiya Polycarbonate cleaner take off that pre-painted body it will it be printed< I have no idea but my idea would be to make it look totally different. The front end needs cleaning up too, way too much stuff exposed. I'll probably just skip the hype on that. TT02BR, that's nice. I've been running a stock TT02B all summer on my garden track and it's a ton of fun. Stock, as in stock setup, bearings and shocks but with Carson Paddle tyres and a CNC machined wing. So yeah, a BR in the arsenal, I can see that. Which actually makes the HS unnecessary as the TT02B or BR is my 4WD buggy then. Parts availability and simplicity.
I can totally see what you mean by “sat on” now, and I see now the raised roofline makes the buggy almost “larger in scale” to my eyes, Im glad you shared your perception thank you! Yes, the BR seems to fit the bill for many, a raceable tunable “light to medium basher” . Many are hoping an original style HS 2 comes out also
@@rexrcs It's quick buck for them. JW sketches up a design and they re-release. Easy money. Which I can understand, everyone needs to make money and development of new products costs a lot of it. An original looking HS still doesn't do it for me but ay least it'd not be as cartoony as this. Those number boards slapped on the flanks, shocking. Personally, I'd like to the TC-01 being put out more. An expensive design that's just not being explored. Possibly put to bed as it's too expensive to manufacture? I love the TT02 though, it's a masterpiece of engineering in its simplicity and can be tuned to many levels, as you mentioned.
@@Rob_NABS I was thinking just that very thought to myself often, why havent they released more on the TC-01?? Its the only reason Ive held off, I dont hate the Jaguar formula E body but I prefer other options. Hopefully the TC-01 has not been pit to bed, Tamiya seems to have regular races with TC-01 class in Japan
I like the BH Hotshot2. It certainly looks fun and the goofy higher roof and extra panels and bumper plate will separate it from the standard Hotshot 2 when that arrives.👍😊
@@rexrcs 😂I really think its one of those cars that will look much better in person. Might even look good with super shot gold wheels and a lowered stance using internal spacers in the cvas.
Not sure about the Blockhead Hotshot...I like the idea of more Blockhead specials but I don't think that the Hotshot II was the right model to customise. I would choose something like the Fighting Buggy/Super Champ instead.
420 FTW! Always!!! The BR is attractive to me. The SRX interests me, because I missed out on the SR.... My Blockhead fiasco COMPLETELY burned me out to ANY Blockhead products. What would I love to see.... SOMETHING NEW from Tamiya!!!
😂420..hehe… I feel sorry for all those who wanted a Blockhead Wild One and couldnt get it, but there are still many shops in canada still getting shipments, hope youre well!
@@rexrcs hanging in there, thx! Horizon TOTALLY screwed me over the Blockhead Wild One. 🤬🤬 I have ALWAYS wanted a Wild One... still do. But I wouldn't take a Blockhead if it was given to me! And nobody is going to give me anything - but i still wouldn't take one. 😒
I recently sold it, but I loved my TT02B. I was skeptical for the longest time of how durable a touring car based buggy would be, but it has been an absolute tank. I also really liked how a 2 cell lipo battery would fit in there without issue. I'd be interested in the new TT02B buuuut I will have to wait to see what the price looks like
I hate the look of the blockhead, but maybe they will make a real hotshot2. Also i hope they will stock up on the spare parts, the hotshot rear and front gear boxes are out. The hopped up TT-02 are great, much better than buying the TT-02 kit and all the upgrades seperate. Dont see the upgrade the BH motors Hotshot 2 gives over the boomerang?
Its not great at steering, so throttle control is the greatest thing for this, otherwise if you want some parts, get good tamiya oil shocks, (super mini cva) and whatever tires your track sells. When building the car, dont put the front driveshaft cover on, it will limit your steering bellcrank. Get tamiya cvd’s, or you may find yourself searching for dogbones anytime you tap a wall. Good luck and thanks for reaching out
Of the three of the the TT02BR is the one I will most likely get. Obviously you know I am not a fan of the BHM Hotshot2 so I am gonna skip that one and allow those that like to get a chance to get one without being on backorder forever (we hope)! The SRX is all you as I would not be able to tell any difference in the suspension setup as I am not that good of a driver!! LOL!!! I do really want the Mitsubishi Lancer kit for some reason, I actually want two of them!! I would love to turn one into a rally car and the other a complete fast and furious car complete with the huge mural decals down the sides of it!! Thanks for the shout out my friend and good luck picking just one of them!!! LOL
The lancer is something Id also love! I really really like the livery that @rckicks went with and would love to have that on an xv-02 chassis 😍. The evo 3,4,5 were my childhood dream street cars. BH, we’ll see how much that grows on me… SRX is almost a given because I have access to a carpet track, and what a great time to introduce the BR just as Ive dwindled down to my only tenth scale 4wd buggy left(TD4). Thanks for stopping in!! 😊
Rex, the TT02BR doesn't come with tires. Initial research points to two types. C block and K block tires. Do you know what the differences are ? Is it compound ? Terrain use ? Photos look exactly the same.
Hi and thanks for the correction! The “C” Blocks have more lugs than the “K” block, now while Im not seasoned with tread pattern knowledge, I can guess that the “C” block is where you want more grip, say in dustier conditions, and on more watered clay surfaces possibly less lugs on the “K” blocks will offer more balance, just a guess
I think they are quite cool. It looks like Tamiya updated the TT-02SR to have TRF419 suspension arms, which is good move, as I guess the 416 arms of the SR are starting to be a bit old. The TT-02BR looks like a fun kit, a bit expensive from what I looked (300€ estimate?).
I hope the prices arent what we’ve seen😅… yes the suspension arms make it a whole different car really, so I’d love to try and get my hands on one somehow but if its coming out april, than the buggy makes more sense…we’ll have to see 😊
Tamiya needs a new serious 1/10 TRF 2wd and/or 4wd buggy... Those entry level/light club racing are okay but seriously look at that TRF501, 502 , 511 etc... Those were expensive but actually competitive against TLR, Yokomo , Associated etc. I love Tamiya but getting tired of those re-re-release. Last Tamiya I bought new was a DF03RA, and Im itching for more Tamiya stuff , but I ain't paying 3-400$ for a kit that I can't either seriously race or was made in 1982.
I think the block head hotshot looks awesome. Just has that 80s rc vibe even more than the original. Maybe it kinda reminds me of a fox. I've been eyeing a tt02b for the last few weeks. That br looks like a good kit. I've got no use for a hopped up tt02 but for some one that races I hink it would be a hot ticket. I hope the egress isn't too pricy. I've wanted one for quiter a long time due to just the name. When I was in the usaf I was an "egress" technician. In normal terms I worked on ejection (egress)systems.
Its growing on me at a rapid rate….im trying to imagine a more scale looking set of wheels and tires and I think it would look even more awesome! Thats a neat reason to want the egress! 😅 Im hoping prices are reasonable however “inflation” pricing has been kicking in all over every industry sadly 😢
Hi there Rex, hmmmm….the TT-02BR looks interesting, but then so does the TT-02SRX. But the HotShot 2 blockhead, I’m sorry, it might fun in the mind, but the addition of the plates with numbers and the other all design characteristics, I’m still not sure to be honest, I think they’ve made it look ugly 😂. I not a fan of the WildOne Blockhead either, still preferring the original red / black scheme, looks like Tamiya have lost some of that touch. Take care and best wishes to you all 😁😊😉
Can't comment on the new TT-02 versions, but here are my thoughts on the Blockhead Hotshot II: no thanks. It would have been better for Tamiya to release a less expensive Blockhead edition, like the Lunchbox, Hornet or Grasshopper. Even the Monster Beetle. Maybe even a realistic vehicle with Blockhead Motors livery such as a rally car or Dakar truck. Something new? My random thoughts about it...cheers!
Initially I really liked the Hotshot 2 Blockhead and I thought I was going to get it. I think that is because its new and shiny. I had the same feelings about the Thunder Dragon and the Thundershot. But as I gave it more thought I realized I am not going to get the Hotshot 2 Blockhead edition, its just too much of a modification from the hotshot family. Once the initial excitement of a new product subsides, it product has to stand on its own two feet, this one doesn't. I hope that Tamiya re releases the Hotshot 2, as well as the other Boomerang chassis cars as well. Thats my rant, have a great day
Very very true my friend, wisely spoken, it happens far too often that I buy on a first thought, sleeping on it always helps me clarify my thoughts . Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
Ordered both TT02's, I love buggies and was going to build a tt02b anyway. I might use a different body. Not sure what awesome car I want to fit to my SRX...might go rally!
Hey Rex, I am a big fan of TT02, so the SRX is a definite for me due to the suite of upgrades, especially the TRF420 suspension itself! As for the Hotshot II BHM, i am getting it simply because i have the Wild One BHM too. Wanted to keep this as a display pair since replacement parts for these 2 are not that easily available. I have just ordered these 2. Hope to share more with u when they are here.
Rex, always entertaining mate. So many TT02s haha
My wife is tired of hearing “tt oh two” 😂 last night she asked if i was going to also get the new “tt02srxyzq” 😂😂
They’ll make a TT-02 Rally spec one day. That would be interesting
Bahahahaha, exactly what goes through my head when looking for the next kit. Love it.
Right?! You an me both! 😂
Nope nothing announced which raises me from my chair or make me pre-order. I hope they'll do more for the Nürnberg Toy Fair.

Yes you’re right, with the stronger grey plastic parts
For me the winner is the TT02 BR
😍 i havent seen a confirmed price but I hope it’s reasonable!

@@hendrahendra that sounds high but lets calculate together,

Cvd’s $

Driveshaft $

+
Aluminum rear hub $

Do not install the “spacer” piece under the center driveshaft up by the steering assembly, it limits your steering throw
I'm with you on this one. I will get in the SRX due to the lower arms included in the kit.
