My little niece had all the classic signs of subluxation and she only had to go once to a chiropractor and they fixed her right up. The colic crying fits stopped ! What a huge blessing it was ! She recently went back to a chiropractor at 4 years old and her spine looked amazing on the scan. Only had to have one little adjustment to her neck and she was good to go ! Peds OT here. I would caution against seeing a chiropractor for torticolis. Chiropractors tend to focus on spinal / bone alignment whereas torticolis is a imbalance in the neck musculature, specifically the sternocleidomastoid muscle. I would recommend occupational or physical therapy not only to address the SCM tightness, but also to address other developmental milestones impacted by torticolis, such as visual motor integration (eye muscle control), grasping, eye hand coordination, postural control / strength, and more. An OT / PT will also assess for plagiocephaly (flat spot) and brachiocephaly (cone headed) to see if a positioning program will be sufficient or if further evaluation for a head orthotic is required. Love your videos - I love to watch them while pumping through the night!
chiropractic assistant here. i totally agree but newborns should get adjusted anyways after birth because birth is very traumatic on the neck. PT is great for muscles but if you’re building healthy muscle structure on bad skeletal structure then it doesn’t help the nervous system properly bcs the neck or back could still be misaligned putting pressure on a nerve and preventing other functions in the body so it’s great to go just to check because chiropractic can help with latching issues colic and digestion! hope this helps :)
So many great tips in this video! I'm yet to give birth and I know I will be referring back to this! Saved! Thank you so much Bridget, lots of this was new info for me. ❤
Thank you for your awesome videos! Just discovered your channel. Only watched a few things but you stuff is so helpful. I’m a few weeks away from having my second baby and I was trying to brush up on the basics to get ready for baby girl. Wish I would’ve found your videos a few years ago with my first! Sharing with my pregnant friend :) thanks for the helpful videos!! God bless
Hi Bridget, thank you so much for your videos. One thing i wanted to recommend each and every mom of a newborn, is to take her baby to an osteopath who's specialty is working with the newborns. Not a cheropract or massagist, only an osteopath! They check the baby and bring their whole body to a balance, and that includes all the body systems and internal organs. All babies have their little/bigger traumas from their position in the womb during the pregnancy, or those coused by the birth. It really worked well for both of my sons.
Very useful video, gives a good ideas. Also I wanted to mention the importance of the physiotherapy in case the baby has torticolis, don’t send a baby to a masseuse unless is for relaxing baby massage. Therapeutic treatment always should be done for experienced professionals.
Have you tried baby wearing? I put my daughter in a wrap carrier during some daytime naps as an alternative to the swaddle, and then she gets mama snuggles and I can get stuff done 😊
If your baby has Torticollis, Chiro is NOT best or safe option. Instead ask your pediatrician for a referral for a Physical Therapy Evaluation with a pediatric physical therapist who specializes with infants with Torticollis and is certified in infant massage as well. The PT will address soft tissue, alignment, AND development.
hi! yes agreed physical therapy is great but it would be even better if u saw a chiro FIRST because if you are trying to build up a healthy muscle structure u want to make sure the skeletal side is good first before that just so u don’t do all that awesome physical therapy in vain :) chiro helps take pressure off the nerves and improves digestion and colic and a lot of other things bcs if u think about it, the spine controls the whole body with nerves because it’s directly associated with the brain and body! chirps are so so important for overall health
@@annatossell you could always ask a pediatrician for their professional opinion. While pediatricians aren't chiros, they are still familiar enough if a chiro is needed or not. If a pediatrician doesn't think a chiro is needed, I personally wouldn't bother with it. Not to mention, depending on your insurance, a recommendation from the primary care doctor may be required anyway. So, it's always best to just go through them first. Unless you're planning to pay out of pocket.
My tip is 1) additionally you can see a cranio sacral therapist to adjust that neck for baby. I can attest from my first baby experience how powerful and 100% safe that can be. 2) budget friendly White noise option is RUclips, tons of white noise videos to lull baby for free
Thank you so so much 😭😭 He just wouldn’t stop crying or go to sleep. I started doing what you were saying as I was watching the video and it worked in 5 minutes
Can you please do a video about transitioning a baby out of a swaddle? My 3 month old is starting to break out of hers at night and is starting to roll, so I know it's time. However, she startles awake immediately without her swaddle. She's a great sleeper, only waking up once per night (if at all), and I'm so anxious about ruining her sleep routine 😭
@joyannalmacen9746 I got a transitional swaddle (we had the Love to Dream Swaddle UP transition bag) and used that for a month or two, then switched to a zipadee-zip sleep sack until she was old enough to sleep with a blanket. I have since had my second baby, now 15 months, and went straight from swaddling to the zipadee-zip and he did great with the transition. I hope that helps! Best of luck mama! :)
Thank you! My baby girl is 6 weeks old and since she’s been about 3 weeks old we’ve had terrible problems with belly. First of all she’s been gasy and/or colicky, secondly she has terrible reflux, to the point that I worry sometimes she’ll choke on her spittle. She also does the back arching when she’s feeding quite often and it feels like I’m fighting with her every time I breastfeed her. It’s emotionally and physically draining. Do you have any more tips?
My baby girl is 4 weeks and having similar issues. I’ve been trying to breastfeed with her head elevated and make sure to burp her but still having issues. I give breast milk mixed with formula 1 time a day at bedtime and I had to change brands and think that may be why. But the formula is supposed to be for sensitive stomachs??? I may try Infants Mylicon (gas relief medicine) if dr says it’s ok. Please let me know if you find anything that works for your daughter.
@@skybluecrafts5494 I can usually tell now during feedings when she starts getting uncomfortable and that’s when I burp her. Usually she ends up spitting a lot with the burp. I recently noticed that also the key is to see if she’s fine after this one burp/spittle, or is sth still bothering her. If she’s not crying and not actively going for the breast (she also refuses her pacifier then) I like to wait her out because usually she ends up spitting again before she’s ready to eat more. For nights in order to get all three of us opportunity to have a decent sleep I’ve been giving her sth called espumisan (but I’m from Poland so you might not have that). It’s drops that are supposed to help passing gas. I would say it helps most of the time. Other than that I don’t have any golden tips sadly.
Hi Bridget! I was wondering about goat’s milk- how soon can lactose intolerant newborns start consuming goat’s milk? And do I need to seek out goat’s milk specifically for newborns, or can regular goat’s milk do the trick?
Goats milk still contains lactose. Less than cows' milk, but still contains it. A baby will have less of a reaction to goats milk, but there will still be an adverse reaction. Even adults with lactose intolerance are advised to avoid goats milk.
My husband was listening to the part at the end about parents having a crying fussing baby, going to a chiropractor and returning with a different baby. He said, "Man, just because they are crying doesn't mean they need to trade them in for a new baby."
My 5 week old baby don’t lie on his back at all . Nor like to sleep on the crib . He just want to sleep on my body . I tried to put him down he will wakes up straight away. Can u give me some tips please
I'm first time mom I try holding him he still cry's, am I supposed to walk around with him for him to calm down? I tried shush doesn't work. I don't know what to do. I change his diaper still cry's. I need advice
If baby sleeps in AC, how much clothes under swaddle is recommended? Also, what if baby does not like hands inside a swaddle? I haven't swaddled my baby for maybe 5/6 weeks now, because she fights with her hands.
First night home with my first, baby is 3 days old. What do you do when nothing works? She doesn’t want to eat, doesn’t want to burp, doesn’t have a dirty diaper, the only swaddle blankets we have are muslin and they don’t keep her wrapped AT ALL, she always gets out no matter how tightly we wrap her, the only way she sleeps is if I am holding her skin to skin. When do I sleep?? I haven’t slept for more than 2-3 hours a day in a week. Help.
Hope things have gotten better for you since you posted 🙏 I wonder at such an early stage, is she just getting used to being out of your comfy safe womb and in the new world.. I know it is so hard for you, especially if she won’t sleep/calm down unless she feels you. How are things now?
@@megan1065 hey! Thanks for asking 🙏🏽 we’re doing better, takes time to learn each other. And maybe you’re right about her not being used to the outside world yet. I was also struggling with breastfeeding and at the time of this comment she was refusing my breast and going long stretches without feeding. So I knew she was hungry but wasn’t able to get her to eat and I had no idea why! I’ve since had to quickly shift gears to pump and combination feed with formula.. which was really hard and devastating to do when I had a vision to breastfeed and was looking forward to that journey with her. It’s been rough in a lot of ways but I’ve been able to work out a routine with my boyfriend and he has been wonderful and supportive for both her and I. So grateful for him. Things are constantly changing so I’ve learned I need to be adaptable and ready to changing at any time. Hoping things will continue moving in a good direction as we all learn this new life together
When should I introduce my baby to a pacifier? He’s one week old, the lactation consultant at the hospital told me to stay away from them but there’s times where he’ll just make sucking noises or just suck on his hand so I try to give him his bottle to see if that’ll help and he’ll move away from it. I would like to try the pacifier though.
I tried different swaddle technics and blankets nothing worked on my son. He fought the entire time and cried while being swaddled. Poor little guy he just wanted skin to skin cuddles 🥰
Trying all the things, nurse said the baby is good, so she's healthy, she's fed, she's changed, she's burped, yet at 1am, she will won't stop hysterically crying. Advice to the wise, it's not as easy as the movies make it seem, breastfeeding is complicated, calming a baby and getting them to sleep can be impossible. If you value your sleep and sanity, don't have kids unless you have a village of support. We don't, and as such three hours a night of sleep (being generous), I'm still expected to work, do dishes, cook food as the wife ”takes the third shift” with the baby. But the baby sleeps all day and cries all night. So basically, fucked is the best word I can think of to describe being a new dad and or mother unless again, you have support to raise the kid or have the money to. But at least there's plenty of assholes out there to remind you,”don't shake the baby.” No shit Sherlock.
I've been enjoying your videos in preparation for the birth of my baby. The only thing about this particular video that I don't like is your advice on torticollis. If a baby has suspected torticollis, it is best for them to be evaluated by a pediatric physical therapist, not a chiropractor. It typically requires several interventions, most importantly parent education to help correct. In my experience, a chiropractor does not have the knowledge to effectively treat this condition.
Wow I already do the ssh sound. My son loves it, and I lay him on his side in bed/bassinet and carry him in side position sometimes for just a short time
I hate that my partner didn’t want me to swaddle baby and I was suffering from baby’s not sleeping. And finally I did it against father’s wish and now it feels better
My 6 week old gets fussy after breastfeeding in the mornings and stays awake for 2 or 3 hours crying unless mami (Me!) rocks her around. In the afternoons, when dad is home, she bottles feeds, burps and sleeps with no fighting. We are changing bottles, formulas, Im adjusting my diet but I wonder if my baby is crying bc of gasses how come when I rock her, she calms down? And in the afternoons and evenings she is not fussy coincidentally when she is under the car of daddy. Is it really gasses or what? Im going nuts bc from 7am to 12pm I can’t do anything but try to make her sleep :(

So many great tips in this video! I'm yet to give birth and I know I will be referring back to this! Saved! Thank you so much Bridget, lots of this was new info for me. ❤
Vertical position and “shshsh” and white nose are the best remedy! 👍
Thank you so much i had a safe and easy delivery and labor because of your tips, i gave birth september 7,2020
Thank you so much for the informative videos. I found this one to be very helpful
So helpful, as always, thank you 🙏
Very useful video, gives a good ideas. Also I wanted to mention the importance of the physiotherapy in case the baby has torticolis, don’t send a baby to a masseuse unless is for relaxing baby massage. Therapeutic treatment always should be done for experienced professionals.
Thank you for all of your helpful videos! You provide information and insights that I could not find searching the web, really appreciate it!
Please how to deal with a baby who wants to be held all the time Video thank you
kate Yes please!!! My baby refuses to be put down.
Have you tried baby wearing? I put my daughter in a wrap carrier during some daytime naps as an alternative to the swaddle, and then she gets mama snuggles and I can get stuff done 😊
Cranial Sacral Therapy is another great resource in addition to Chiropractic care
So happy my chiropractor works with babies.
Can you do a video explaining what to do when your baby has reflux?
What about a shout-out for the dad's? Haha watching this trying to console my newborn
Thank you so so much 😭😭 He just wouldn’t stop crying or go to sleep. I started doing what you were saying as I was watching the video and it worked in 5 minutes
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOOOOS!!! AND THIS ONE COMES IN SUCH A SPECIAL DATE FOR ME. (16/12). You're amazing and you don't even know how much, Bridget!!
Loving the advice.
So helpful thank you!
It helped me a lot your words I think I got from God thanks madam thanks
My baby was crying her eyes out and once she heard your voice she immediately fell asleep 🤷🏼♀️ what magic do you Possess
Wow this just helped me so much, thank you!!!!!!!
Saving this to watch when i have free time! Thanks! I needed this with my 2,5 mo baby😭
So helpful. Thanks alot 😊💗
Such great advice
Thanks helped a lot
Can you please do a video about transitioning a baby out of a swaddle? My 3 month old is starting to break out of hers at night and is starting to roll, so I know it's time. However, she startles awake immediately without her swaddle. She's a great sleeper, only waking up once per night (if at all), and I'm so anxious about ruining her sleep routine 😭
hi i know your comment was years ago. But how do u transition? my little does the same.. cannot sleep without being swaddled
@@juliaisom9710 thanks so much for your response. I am currently struggling with my 4mos old little one. thanks so much!
I love this show ❤
Thank You ❤
Hi,can you advise when can we start the tummy time for the new born..?My LO is just 18 days old
Thank you, but is there anything I can do to prevent my baby from teething sickness
Can we use this technique on a new born with Pavlik Harness for DDH?
Does it matter which side to do the "I love you" move?
Dad humor on point lol
Hello! Love your videos 💓 I wanted to know why my baby always want any cry for feed when she is awake? Or its normal
What do you do if they’re screaming full of gas and can’t massage? How do you relieve them by that stage
I love you thanks !
Any tips on hiccups??
I think I'm going to make videos for dads because I believe no one thinks we exit.
I see you didn’t make it to 5:11
@morganfaye93 I've had daddy duties 😅😅😅
My girl is 7 weeks and has hated swaddling. Any tips for that?
Till what age do you swaddle a baby?
Do you have any videos for cradle cap and baby acne?
Did you manage to find anything that helps? X
Castor or coconut oil n no shampoo
breast milk.
As a dad, I’m also watching your videos
What are your favorite newborn parenting/pregnancy/ birth books? I am pregnant and would love to know what you know!!
Haha I was carrying my crying baby when I clicked on your video. It’s like you were watching me lol
I shared this with my friend’s daughter to share with her husband who has no idea how to soothe a crying baby.
Side laying is how my son falls asleep when he’s on my chest. He hates swaddles so much and it makes him scream his head off
Same!
I tried different swaddle technics and blankets nothing worked on my son. He fought the entire time and cried while being swaddled. Poor little guy he just wanted skin to skin cuddles 🥰
I just watched your new video of mistakes not to make, and one is not to swaddle. This is an old video, so what is best?
“Hey mamas” >:( ma’am daddy trying to get homie to stop crying and be happy too
Trying all the things, nurse said the baby is good, so she's healthy, she's fed, she's changed, she's burped, yet at 1am, she will won't stop hysterically crying.
-8:23 Can they suckle on their own hands
This is a great video. I notice you said hold a baby upright for 15-20 mins after they eat to help with digestion, i never do that. Is that necessary?
My 6 week old gets fussy after breastfeeding in the mornings and stays awake for 2 or 3 hours crying unless mami (Me!) rocks her around. In the afternoons, when dad is home, she bottles feeds, burps and sleeps with no fighting. We are changing bottles, formulas, Im adjusting my diet but I wonder if my baby is crying bc of gasses how come when I rock her, she calms down? And in the afternoons and evenings she is not fussy coincidentally when she is under the car of daddy. Is it really gasses or what? Im going nuts bc from 7am to 12pm I can’t do anything but try to make her sleep :(
Just a little piece of feedback :) I'm a fresh dad, my little one has almost 2 weeks. Your video is super helpful, but you seem only to talk to 'mamas' :) I'm trying to be a proactive father and I watch videos like these! :)
I bet you’re a fantastic father!!
It’s great that you’re involved. But... Her audience is primarily women. That doesn’t mean you’re not welcome, but it doesn’t mean she needs to change her greeting just to make it about you. The information is still there for you.
@@sha8photo why would it be 'about me'?
@@sha8photo I really agree with this. Too much censoring and need for assurance.
