I've loved this track since it first dropped and I have to say I'm blown away by how current this still fucking sounds, timeless song writing at it's best 🤷♂️
I dont know about the hd pro but you probably can get it with the XT or the X3, a pc and some decent pickups. Of course proper picking and palm muting techniques are hugely important to really pound the tone out.. :)
These lads are the voice of a revolution. Not only informing us with powerful knowledge worth researching, writing about real shit, but doing it whilst ripping the sickest bars, sexiest grooves and djentastic chops. Love what you are doing, keep up the hard work. I can't wait to get to a show. Peace!
I don't think it necessarily matters for a playthrough video like this. It's his work that's being played through a recording, and he's playing along to it. All we need to know is what he does, when he does it and how.
mygod you guys are amazing O.o I'm trying to work stuff out with my band...we're a prog metal group, but its difficult cause one of my guitarists always wants to play fast stuff so HE is entertained, but the rest of us want slower, more hardcore shit...the fun part about being in a band is about PLAYING in a group, not WHAT you play, right? thats how i feel at least...any advice on what to say and how to make everything work? we're trying to get big so, any advice helps :D keep on rocking! :P
+hacktivistuk I have the Engl e530 which I bought purely because of this video. Could you please tell me how you were using it Timfy? Would really appreciate it. was it 4 cable method with the Pod?. How were you EQ ing etc Bright switch on or off? Contour? etc etc. cant wait for the new record too! \m/
There isnt one. If you want good quality you record through an amp modeler into a computer program like POD studio then record yourself playing the song then sync both of those. It sounds way better than recording live with a camera mic.
so can anyone confirm if this song is in drop E or open E tuning? This is some nice guitar playing. Nothing technically mindblowing but some nicely composed riffs!
lol....you obviously haven't listened to some of their other songs and btw he does use it in this song but it's recorded on the backing track, in this video he only plays the chug parts....
This tune is beautiful without vocals, powerful with them.
4:03 is one of the most melancholic riffs in history.
That tone...
was literally the main reason I bought the ENGL E530 and Pod HD PRO haha.
Next month Im finally going to be pairing them together through my new cab!
I've loved this track since it first dropped and I have to say I'm blown away by how current this still fucking sounds, timeless song writing at it's best 🤷♂️
to this day, arguably the best djent tone ever. Not to mention one of the best djent songs created as well
Nah
bands like hacktivist + periphery make my life worth living
2:20 *ABSOLUTE DESTROYER MODE*

Libertarian Djent.. In heaven..
I can`t wait for the album!
fabulous tone
It's almost the same thing. LTD's are the cost friendly versions of their ESP counterparts so it close to the actual thing.
agreed!
i love the chorus riff
Sounds amazing!
Beautiful playing man!
seriously want some tabs for this!
Drop Z# tuning for anyone who doesn't know
Drop E
yes
@NephtaliCespedes

@TheMobiusR It's in drop E.
@TheMobiusR I am pretty sure it's in drop E.

SC-608B
Do more guitar play throughs...
I love the riff at 2:20 - 2:49
no way bro! 2:20 is the best riff. that shit grooves so effin hard
@Moonohol @Lawlsaucelicious i remember seeing its not Drop E. The low string is E but the rest is like Open E or something
No..the last riff in Unlike Us!
How the fuck does he execute the note so short?! it's staccato on a new level!
Is that a POD HD Pro I see in the background? Can you share your patches pretty please?!
Whens the album coming out?
палка хорошаа!!!
Is that a Stef carpenter signature esp
as you said its about teamwork. you can have your slow hardcore parts, and include his fast riffs. mix it up a little
its weird how timfy uses his index finger...
1:43, such a hardon for that guitar tone
What tuning is this? So sick!
mygod you guys are amazing O.o

I want that guitar so bad.
I REALLY wish this had a solo....well time to jam to this haha.
dat snare
At first i was all like, "this is cool, i could get in to this." Then at 2:20 i randomly shit my pants and threw up at the same time.
2:49
This song is incredibly dark. \m/
If the hacktivist ever tour Sweden I know a bunch of guys that would be there ;)
4:04 music to my ears
Patches....NAOW!
Seriously, how the hell did you get that tone of the HD Pro!
That first chorus where it's clean really reminds me of...dare I say...Trapt.
+hacktivistuk
I have the Engl e530 which I bought purely because of this video.

its an engle pre-amp , not an engle power amp
This would be the SC-608b Model.
Timfy what's your gear? I know the POD and the Engl but the other two.
COME TO NORTH CAROLINA AND PLAY ME A SHOW, BITTE
Riff at 0:59 sounds like a dalek speaking
so can anyone confirm if this song is in drop E or open E tuning? This is some nice guitar playing. Nothing technically mindblowing but some nicely composed riffs!
I think he is using Axe Fx Ultra...it's impossible to get such a strong djent tone through the hd pro...or can you? :O
Stephan Carpenter Signature model. SC-208
2:49 surprised nobody else is jizzing over this part as much as i am.
So what exactly is your set up in this video? Like how are you running everything?
4:00 Dem octaves.
Sounds like Drop E to me bro
He's running the POD HD Pro through an ENGL power amp.
Last year you had the same guitar with other fretboard did you?
Hi ! how make your drum ?
1:42
3:04
That chord at 1:45 is just sooo juicy.
What tuning is it in??
is there tabs for this anywhere ??
thumbs up if you are going to watch these april in swansea !!
lol....you obviously haven't listened to some of their other songs and btw he does use it in this song but it's recorded on the backing track, in this video he only plays the chug parts....
that intro riff !! holy fuk thats heavy !!! i think i just went deaf :)
What tuning are you playing in dude? :)
@YouShallLoseTheGame dude it says LTD
Well holy shit he's right, its a weird open E tuning, sounds right on my 7 anyway
holy poop
literally one of my favorite riffs of ever lmfao
it just sounds so... fucked up lol
£5000+ worth of gear and the mix clips in this version haha.
Love it though, no one is putting out jams this groovy right now.
yeah its the Baritone scale noticed right after i posted the comment haha
What tuning is used here.. ?
