Tuning is EBEAEABE. It wrecked my brain, while i was trying to understand, what passage he is plaing at the every end of a riff in the second part ( 3:05 for example).
The way the vocalist is screaming you can really hear his accent. Awesome work, I am loving this shit! The vocalist has a sort of hardcore approach + djent/music= Core/jent?
you guys are just blowing my mind right now :P saw you at downlaod and now i just can't stop listening to you LOVING this fusion of genres, never like hip hop but now i am chilling to this guys YOU RULE!!
Well, the way I see it, he is playing 5th fret on the 2nd string and the 7th fret on the 3rd string (in sequence, making enharmonic notes) and then moving up 1 fret on the 2nd string after a while making the dissonant minor second interval. Which would fit EBEADGad tuning, with the major second interval between the 3rd and 2nd strings.
@thekaserxxx13 it's actually different then what I said since the "GAD" part of the string is on the top 3 strings instead of strings 4-2...still some sort of open tuning in E.
I've played the extended scale guitars, they don't have floppy strings at all, in fact they come stock tuned to B. I'm not saying 8 strings are useless, but for some things, you can get away with a Baritone scale 6 string.
There is the Fender Bass VI (if you wanna go oldschool), Schecter also makes a 6 string Hellraiser with a 30" scale and EMGs. (called the Hellraiser C IV Baritone) Gretsch makes one, and I'm sure there is more, just google baritone guitar.
the width of the neck dosen't correlate to how low the guitar can be tuned. there is a schecter 6 string that has a 30 inch scale and is tuned to E standard one octave below regular tuning
point is...its fun! i reckon, thick and phat bottom-end sounds sweet in this style of music . yes- music. use tin cans, garbage lids with a home made xylophone if you will. whatever gets the sound and tones from head to fingers to ear. its art. i love playing with the extra low strings. (plus, as a guitar tech - i'll just add that a 3 string sized neck, with that scale length needed to get the low F# or lower tunings...would be a nightmare to keep in action and function normally.)
@thekaserxxx13 looks like it's E, but in the weird DADGAD tuning Monuments uses on their 8's...so, in this case, E A E A D E A d. I'm basing that off of what's played around 2 minutes in (and on), since that's the same note on two adjacent strings...which works in that weird tuning. That, and the open string "runs" give it away.
@ainsleywalker Damn I thought it was drop E. What is it then, I suspect its drop E but with G and B string tuned differently, but I haven't really tested that theory.
haha very true XD but the point he's making is that "people are only using the top three strings" so i was like "hey you can do the same thing with a four string bass" and yeah~
@BitterSweetFeast @RoyEyal I think it's in EBEADGAD, judging from how he's fingering the chords in the song and from that part beginning at around 2 minutes in.
Why isn’t that outro on the album version?? It’s sooooo good!! And you didn’t put the palm mutes in during the second part of the intro. What is going on? Lol
The joke is that not only would the strings be floppy.... if he stuck on the right thickness of strings his guitar neck would snap in half like a twig.
@ainsleywalker Yea I was going with that. But then look at the chords he does on the Agile in cold shoulders (1:33). I formed the exact same shape, but the G string note didn't match. Dunno maybe I'm just missing something, I'm pretty new to this tabbing business, even if I'm cheating by looking at the video.
You'd definitely need an eight string or at least a baritone seven. THis is tuned to Drop E, which would sound ridiculous on a six. The lowest I've had my six was drop G# and it didn't sound proper, even at the 58 gauge. An eight string is just overall too heavy. Maybe a seven string, but you'd have to tune it right down. B, A, G, F, E
haha okay so I could be completely wrong, but is he using a bass soapbar pickup? I saw what looked like one at the end of the video where he takes his hand off the strings.
I know that. I was trying to re word what this other guy was trying to say...personally, I think that the "groove" to this band with the rap elements works out, but when over half of the bands with 8 strings just chug the whole album, it just dumbs down everything
Oh nice, I'm back in that cool part of youtube again.
0:37, best lyrics ever.

I like Grime & Grunge, I wanna go raves, I wanna see Wall to wall clunge!!!
Holy EFF i could see myself losing my mind at one of their shows this shit is intense.
This is awesome , it reminds me of like Vildhjarta with rap
These riffs are amazing! love it
cant wait for the album, such a fucking tune this is
you guys are just blowing my mind right now :P saw you at downlaod and now i just can't stop listening to you LOVING this fusion of genres, never like hip hop but now i am chilling to this guys YOU RULE!!
GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES! (y)
*throws 8 string out of window and cries in corner*
I really dig these grooves.
rapdjent .sick ,just like i used to listen to rapcore back in the days
That tone
Well, the way I see it, he is playing 5th fret on the 2nd string and the 7th fret on the 3rd string (in sequence, making enharmonic notes) and then moving up 1 fret on the 2nd string after a while making the dissonant minor second interval. YES.
Tone is soothingly heavy af
I just covered this on bass, its my favourite song at the moment! :D
periphery uses 6,7 and 8 string guitars. periphery does utilize more than the top string and stacked power chords as well.
@thekaserxxx13 it's actually different then what I said since the "GAD" part of the string is on the top 3 strings instead of strings 4-2...still some sort of open tuning in E.
Ahead of its time
They do make extended scale 6 strings, it makes low tuning really easy.
I've played the extended scale guitars, they don't have floppy strings at all, in fact they come stock tuned to B. I'm not saying 8 strings are useless, but for some things, you can get away with a Baritone scale 6 string.
gawd.
Dope I have that same guitar
Yes, good fucking luck tuning to this on a baritone 6 string.
Very cool!! 🤘
Serious Djent going on here! \m/ Great work!
one word: Amazing!
djent rap is probably another great addition to the djent society
The Hacktivist ''H'' logo looks very much like the Halo custom guitars logo
and its the lower strings.
His right Hand is killer! Precision at it's best :D
machine! \m/
I like the vocals, too! Kinda reminds me of how RAtM and Meshuggah use the vocals as a percussive element within the body of the song.
niceee

All the bright lights make his tone better. Obviously :P
Yes. And it looks amazing - to be honest. It's related with muting - to make each stroke-mute pair sound the same - as if it was a sample.
the width of the neck dosen't correlate to how low the guitar can be tuned. there is a schecter 6 string that has a 30 inch scale and is tuned to E standard one octave below regular tuning
@MrHxCNinja It's not Drop E, although the lowest string is an E yes.
yea buddy, I have that same guitar. Fuckin love sevens
More strings does not = capable of lower tunings. It's all about string thickness and neck length.
point is...its fun!
i reckon, thick and phat bottom-end sounds sweet in this style of music .
yes- music. use tin cans, garbage lids with a home made xylophone if you will.

@paulloveslyd yeah I could actually compare Hacktivist to Monuments as well, they also have a "rappish" strain in the vocals. =D
nice tim
i got the 7 string version... a beast guitar
This is some sick shit right here. Hell yeah.
djent meets grime = my BRAAAIIINNN!!!! \m/
its like a heavy djent enter shikari
he said almost everything
Vengo de UNFD y quiero decir que son uno de los mejores descubrimientos de este 2021
@Malevolence161 drop e, you can see it from how he plays octaves on the low strings
*crying more 'cause you wanna make me cry*
@LanceSaunders im sure its a pod hd pro he uses, well he has it in his rig anyways!
@thekaserxxx13 looks like it's E, but in the weird DADGAD tuning Monuments uses on their 8's...so, in this case, E A E A D E A d. cause he's a beast!!
They have now. Their first was the other day!
why doesn't this song goes on for like a couple of hours, cause now all i do is reclick the video when its done playing!!
this is just fucking awesome
Yes, They moisten me
So weighty !
Any chance of some tabs for this?
Vocals sounds like early P.O.D. great tune.
@ainsleywalker Damn I thought it was drop E. What is it then, I suspect its drop E but with G and B string tuned differently, but I haven't really tested that theory.
periphery.
haha very true XD but the point he's making is that "people are only using the top three strings" so i was like "hey you can do the same thing with a four string bass" and yeah~
Yeah dude, i could defo play this :D - Simon
shit its awesome just imagine P.O.D with dejent. man this bad ass song to.
@BitterSweetFeast @RoyEyal I think it's in EBEADGAD, judging from how he's fingering the chords in the song and from that part beginning at around 2 minutes in.

Periphery is 7 string, but same idea
try this tuning with a 6 string
This is Djent man. It should be played like that
Ya pretty cool but i'd so love to see a instrumental too
It's like Rage Against the Machine had a baby with Djent
Ok man, you got my trust ^^. Too bad my 8string is set up for standard tuning cause I really fuckin love this song and it seems great to play =)
@ainsleywalker so it's tuned a whole step down
what strings do you use?
Brit-rap gotta love it.
so.... is that low E James Bonds Grappling Hook?...
There is a secund guitar line, so I think he actually needs those 8 strings.
what is this extended scale 6-string of which you speak? link it, I am interested
The joke is that not only would the strings be floppy.... if he stuck on the right thickness of strings his guitar neck would snap in half like a twig.
downstroke makes the difference in heavy riffs, sounds better and it ain´t easy to do it fast. Alternate picking is a lot easier to do.
@ainsleywalker Yea I was going with that. But then look at the chords he does on the Agile in cold shoulders (1:33). I formed the exact same shape, but the G string note didn't match. Esp Ltd SC-608B Model Guitar
Djent Against The Machine
Cold Shoulders Playthrough PLEASE!
Much easier to keep the killer grooves down with down strokes
is there bass tabs or a bass video anywhere?
@BitterSweetFeastis" Dropped E" 8 strings
dat tone! which tuning?
yea maybe hes just comfortable that way like me, when im alone

times are changin' guys... /:D
gives more 'churg' for djent, not a bad thing!
I know that. I was trying to re word what this other guy was trying to say...personally, I think that the "groove" to this band with the rap elements works out, but when over half of the bands with 8 strings just chug the whole album, it just dumbs down everything
