@@ChristopherNFP Don't forget to also look for the _Hinomaru._ In my home country (the United States), the military flags are usually depicted in war films as national flags used during World War II, while the _real_ national flag's use at the time is ignored by the films. Those who don't know much about flags just assume the Rising Sun Flag (both of them) was a national flag during World War II (kind of like the German Nazi flag, but not a party flag), and not what it really is: a military flag used almost continuously by Japan since 1870, and still to this day. In short, look out for the national flag, for it does not usually make the war films.

That is actually one of the hallmarks of good flag design. Is it easily recognized from a distance and can the children of your country recognize and recreate it
I would rather compare "Rising sun flag" to german Iron Cross (military symbol, often associated with WW2, but not strictly representing any ideology, used by military of these countries to this day) , not to NSDAP flag (made specifically to be symbol of ideology and implemented as the symbol of ideology, being in use ONLY when country was run by followers of that ideology).
that's a much better comparison. It still makes me chuckle when people get their dander up about seeing a German Leopard 2 MBT with the iron cross painted on the side.
@@kaiserofgermania5236 >Was used before WW2 You know, to East Asians, Japan was still a horrible nation before WW2. It really is a European/American perspective. To anyone in East Asia, or Australians who know their history, the Imperial Japanese were worse or at least on par with the WW2 Germans. So yeah, it's equal with the Swastika.
@UCAk61SHJsXG_h-BgiIDDJyw Aye, but the Japanese forces were also still committing atrocities before WWII in earnest so it's a specific example that's further complicated by not falling strictly within the confines of a single regime or conflict. It's comparatively easier to draw distinctions with - say - the Swastika and the Iron Cross. One represented this party/organization/regime - the other has a longer, more varied history. To play devil's advocate against my point, though - if there were any Herero around today they may even have an issue with the Iron Cross as a symbol, regardless of WWII. I suppose the inter-war period and WWII were such a hyper-charged climate in regard to national symbols and identity that it tends to make everything else more gray in comparison.
Don't think the Rising Sun Flag is okay to be used nowadays because it is older than the Japanese imperialists. In that logic, the Swastica has also existed for thousands of years, it was originally an Indo-European alphabet and the Nazi took it as their symbol to exert the "Aryan superiority." Yet the swastica is literally banned in most of the world. The Rising Sun Flag is the same. Although it may have existed since before the Japanese Empire, it still was used as the symbol of their imperialism and hundreds of millions of Asians suffered under that flag. Westerners are in no place to justify their use.
@Biracial Boy He's like a symbol for modern Japan, though. A living representation of the dangers of nuclear warfare and all that. If Godzillas were a real thing, I bet Japan would be using them the same way China uses pandas in regards to diplomacy. lol
There was never a change: the rising sun flag was not the official national flag of Japan even in those days - it was the country's military flag and was often popularly used with the regular national flag, but the national flag was the same as it is today.
@@Maple_Tachibana Except he's totally wrong. National flag changed slightly and rising sun flag always had two different versions depending on Army or Navy... that's what I understood....

@History With Hilbert I saw it on a random RUclips video once (no idea which one I'm afraid). It was an attempt to satisfy the two families that were merging. If you see the original two it's quite clever. Type in “mitsubishi symbol creation” into google and you’ll see it.

This flag has been in use since before the war. Many countries must have a history of war and colonization. It's like saying that the British flag should be abolished.
There is a wartime flag that was created during WW2, the Taisei Yokusankai flag. The flag is not well known to foreigners, but it was created during the WW2 war and is no longer used after the war.
yeah i agree with this. the difference between this flag and the Nazi one is that the Nazi flag was the flag of the Nazi party that took control of Germany and changed the German flag. it's inseparable from the Nazi party, but the Japanese navy flag was the flag before the war and before the terrible acts where committed its more of just a Japanese flag.
Just for general knowledge: “land of the rising sun” doesn’t mean the people are “of the rising sun” or named themselves after the rising sun, but it represents, from a Chinese geographical perspective, the location of japan to the East. I like to translate it more as “the perceived origin of the sun as seen from China” lol. Kinda like how the name of China is “middle country.” Its more of a description of location than a true name. But then that’s where most Japanese family names come from, locations in nature.
It's not only in Asia. There's a theory, regarding the etymology of "Europe" that says the name comes from Mesopotamian word "ereb" meaning "descent", so in that case Europe would be "the land of the setting sun".
@@yuki.s.3881 No they didn't. The name is written in both languages as 日本, which means "sun origin." Honestly if the Rising Sun flag is taboo then most other old military and national flags should also be. Few people want to Union Jack taken down despite the horrors done in the name of British imperialism. The flag of the Third Reich was designed specifically by Nazis as a symbol of Nazism, which is incomparable to flag that was adopted long before the militarists seized power in Japan.
That’s the way I see the black-white-red flag of the German Empire. For some reason, here in Germany, it is associated with Nazism and racism. Personally, I see no issue with it. It is the flag that unified Germany after decades of consisting of bickering nation-states. It showed a rebirth of Germany as a whole, after the decline and fall of the incompetent and falling-apart Holy Roman Empire. It should be revered as the flag that unified Germany. Shame on those that misuse it, but can we really let such a small minority of racist neo-Nazis ruin our nation’s heritage and perception of the past? There is such a despicable shame-culture here in Germany; if anything isn’t 100% politically correct, you get shot down as if you were a Nazi. I hate it, I really do. It’s all in the name of freedom, but it’s more oppressive than any other regime in Germany. You can’t even show patriotism without being questioned on whether or not you’re a fucking neo-Nazi. That flag was practically replaced by the Swastika, and Hitler didn’t even like the German Empire or emperor. He barred people from going to Wilhelm II’s funeral. Yet, apparently this flag is “racist?” I would love to bring back this flag, to show my people that there is nothing inherently wrong with it. If it’s bad, then the Union Jack, Stars and Stripes, or you-name-it, are ten times worse. The idea of “history is written by the victors” is very debatable. But socially, I believe that it is very true, considering the victors fly their flags with no shame, but actually pride, whereas we must put down ours with shame.
@@Vaterlandstreuer While I can't see why the German Empire's flag is controversial, I think it isn't used officially because it was for the German Empire, not the German Republic.
Io I can understand that entirely. I simply believe that we shouldn’t distance ourselves from the past because of incorrect associations, and we should embrace our heritage. Does the flag say „This flag only usable for empire?“ No. Hell, the Japanese still use their flag. Including the „Rising-Sun Flag“ for their navy. They’re not ashamed of it. And that was infamously flown during the time of fascist Japan, which committed numerous war crimes, on the level of Nazi Germany. So why should we be ashamed of a flag that has practically nothing to do with war crimes or anything shameful, not that that would matter, since a flag has nothing inherently wrong with it?

Chris Lates Yes, it’s absolutely terrible. The last surviving relatives of Hitler‘s bloodline (not even direct descendants of his, by the way) are determined to not have children because their great-brother-in-law was Hitler. What do they have to do with Hitler? Nothing. What do their would-be children have to with Hitler? Nothing. They could’ve changed their name, as if that was even necessary. Instead, they’re basically going to kill their own family because of their great-brother-in-law. It’s pathetic, completely illogical, and outright sad and shameful that they would do this. I harbor no shame for the actions of my ancestors. They did what they did. Doesn’t matter if they believed in the cause. Doesn’t matter if they didn’t. I am not associated with them. From what I know they did not support the anti-Semitic parts of the Third Reich, but rather supported a strong Germany. Does it matter either way? Nope. Because I am NOT them. I am someone else. With my own thoughts, my own feelings, ambitions, hopes, dreams, goals, beliefs, strengths, and so on. I will not shame myself for something I have nothing to do with. Sadly, many of my countrymen and -women do not think as I do. Instead, they help the „de-nazification“ process, which, at this point, is more of a de-Germanisation process. Patriotism is grounds for being called a neo-Nazi. Not being super-liberal, socialist, and globalist is seen as „Nazist.“ It’s sad that Germany carries the legacy of a terrible time that ended 75 years ago. We should free ourselves from these self-applied shackles and start thinking about what would actually be good for this country, instead of self-loathing.
If you want a Japanese equivalent of the German swastika, look up the symbol of “Taisei Yokusankai”. The purpose of the symbol actually comes from a political stance. The Japanese rising sun is more like the German iron cross, a cultural symbol thats rooted in their history.

Having lived in Japan for 25 years, and been preoccupied with other aspects of life in this amazing country I’ve never really had any opportunity to delve deeper into the questions surrounding Japan’s flags. This brief and informative documentary helped a lot. Of course, for all the time I’ve been living here I have been aware of the sensitivity surrounding Japan’s flags. Living here, you can’t help but notice its absence from daily life. Unlike in my native Australia, this country’s flag never gets used in TV commercials, billboards, or other forms of social education. In Japan, the Hinomaru is just simply missing from the public agenda. Yes, it hovers over city administration buildings and public schools. But its presence is part of that building’s design only, like a “wall” or “elevator” would be. The national flag rarely publicly reminds residents nor visitors which country they are in. The Hinomaru comes out on buses, trains, and urban street poles on public holidays only, and is quietly folded away the following day. On holidays perhaps one neighbor out of ten thousand might hang a Japanese flag up on their access to the street. People here seem to “be OK” with their flag, but the overall accepted Western version of historical events has obliged the individual Japanese not to “love it”. Those people who display the Hinomaru on days that are not public holidays are seen as extreme right-wing nationalists who are shunned by the majority. While there is much ongoing criticism internationally of Japan’s actions in history, one can’t help but feel sympathy for the confused typical young Japanese and their uneasy relationship with its flag. Sporting events are a rare opportunity for the individual Japanese to wave a flag that depicts the usual pride that peoples have towards a common identity, belongingness and success on the international stage, yet at international away sporting events though, particularly within Asia, Japanese supporters are warned by its government of the risks of flying any flag that symbolizes Japanese pride. All nations’ flags carry history. Few nations can be totally pride of its history. The Japanese certainly have issues of history it needs to deal with internally. Yet perhaps more than most people, the Japanese are aware of and struggle with the relationship between history and the flag that represents it, the present and the future.
The perception of old symbols like this one strongly depends on where you live. For instance I live in Europe, so i don't perceive any negative connotations of the Rising Sun Flag. I even used to have a big decal of it on the roof my Honda because I liked the look of it, and nobody had a problem with it. Many fans of Japanese cars in Europe have some form of the Rising Sun Flag on their cars and it's perfectly fine. In the same way now I have a confederate flag on the roof of my Ford pickup truck and it's just a cool design feature (because of the Dukes of Hazzard) without any historical or ideological significance because in my country nobody cares about the american civil war. On the other hand I couldn't drive around with a Swastika on a Mercedes even if I wanted to, but in China I saw action figures of war criminals like Reinhard Heydrich in Nazi uniform, and nobody seemed to care. I presume that people in China perceive Nazi symbols just as some western exotic culture without any deeper meaning.
I live in Australia though which was attacked by the Japanese sure were weren't dominated by japan but POWs still were treated poor and personally I think they should able to fly what ever flag they want it's not symbolic of oppression people need to grow up. It has much more cultural significance to just be discarded after a few short years of dark history, if every country changed their flags after every wat the get into they run out of creative ideas.

I was in Yokosuka Japan in 1979-1980 as a U.S. sailor. There were several Japanese naval vessels moored at the naval station there and I was startled to see a Hinari flag at the stern of each vessel. I looked into the history of Japanese national flags at that point. Your post recounts much of what I discovered, and I thank you for letting the world know. One small addition. The reason the naval ensign used the hinari was because it was visible at great distances to approaching or passing vessels. The reason the sun-disk is offset is that it gives observers some indication of the ship's direction or course (I was told this by a signalman aboard my own ship). Again, many thanks, good post!

I will point out three things about the video including misunderstanding ・ The Rising Sun Flag is not in the same line as the Haken Kreuz. The Rising Sun Flag corresponds to the flag such as German Iron Cross and White Ensign. If the theory of eliminating the Rising Sun Flag holds, then the flags of the countries that also controlled the colonies (such as White Ensign, US Navy flag, and other europian countries' flag) must also be eliminated. ・ The Rising Sun symbol has been used as a sign of good luck since before the Edo period. The main meaning of the Rising Sun Flag and the symbol itself is "I wish you good luck." The military element was added later. ・ The official flag of Japan is the Rising Sun Flag at any time. The official national flag of Japan before and after the war is the "Hinomaru".

@CockSlicet its not dumb actuly if my calculations are correct, that flag is the same as a union jack. Thats true. It is a symbol of royalty and the signature of a army. Nothing more nothing less. Originally, it is a lucky charm that expresses "Rising Sun". Sometimes a national flag, sometimes a military flag, sometimes a fishing boat's big catch flag, and sometimes a soccer cheering flag. It has nothing to do with Haken Kreuz. It's a lie made by South Korea. In 2011, Ki Sung-yueng performed a racial discrimination performance in the soccer match between Japan and Korea. Ki Sung-yueng made an excuse that he went to the Rising Sun Flag. Despite the fact that the Rising Sun Flag was not raised on that day. It has nothing to do with the Empire of Japan. Because it's an auspicious flag. Criticism began suddenly in 2011. Forged hoaxes with no historical background spread from South Korea. He got Japanese traditional flag dirty. When I see this flag, it reminds me of Korean criticism. We are really sad. Since 2011, South Korea has sharply linked it to the war. There is no sin in this beautiful flag. It all started with an excuse for Ki Sung-yueng to hide racism. The Japanese are confused by the large number of Koreans who criticize Japan. The Nissho flag(Hinomaru) was first adopted by the Shogunate as a ship flag on the high seas. The Rising Sun Flag has its roots in the military flag used in the Revolutionary War by the Revolutionary Army centered on the Satsuma Domain. As the new government, they adopted the Nissho flag(Hinomaru) as the national flag and the Rising Sun Flag as the military flag. Even now, the national flag is the Nissho flag(Hinomaru) , and the rising sun flag is used as the military flag.
Those who were educated after World War II were brainwashed by the brainwashing education program designed by the U.S. and Syngman Rhee at that time. Before the Japanese rule, Korea was ruled by the Yi Dynasty and a handful of yangban who exploited the people. The infrastructure and educational system were not developed, and the people were only allowed to wear white clothes. It was Japan that overthrew such a system that treated the people like slaves and laid the foundation for Korea to become a modern nation. But somehow only Swastica is bad because Hitler was the only bad guy in Europe and anyone else who opposed is a hero despite of all the bad works in it's colonies.

If you look into more of war images of Japan, you'll find that they only flew the rising sun flag when they won the battle. basically the rising sun flag was used for celebration. also the reason why Japanese imperial navy used the rising sun flag is simply because hinomaru just looked like a white flag from the distance on the sea when it's not waved. that's why japanese navy aka japanese maritime self defense force uses the rising sun flag still:)

I'm Japanese. Some foreigners misunderstands that Japanese Rising sun flag was the national flag of Japan until the end of ww2. Actually, it was not. And it has never been a national flag of Japan. Japanese national flag has been Hinomaru which is same as today's. Rising sun flag had been a symbol flag of Japanese navy and it is being used by Japanese maritime self defense force too.
If South Korea insists that national symbols that Japan used to invade neighboring countries (in the past) should not be used at all, then South Korea should also send objections to the use of for example the British flag and the tricolor French flag (Drapeau français), because these were traditionally used by the European countries during European colonialism, the first wave of European colonization (1415 to 1830 CE) and New Imperialism (late 19th and early 20th centuries).
Not the same, it's hard to compare what Imperial Japan atrocities with the other Imperialists. And the timeline is more recent. It may require a few more generations to pass.

Hi, We are Japanese. That's a nice post. However We must insist about this subject.... The Japanese "Hinomaru flag" has been for hundreds of years. and the "Rising sun flag" also is it that would be displayed at the time of celebrations. The Rising sun flag was adopted for the war so that it would not be mistaken for a white flag when there was no wind. This is a very nervous problem for Japan as well. But Japanese military sexual slavery and laborers who people's issues and not seen as a sincere apology to Yasukuni Shrine to honor their war crimes. You said that the relationship between Korea and Japan is important. On the one hand, don't Koreans say they are fanatic and blame Korea unconditionally? When I talk to Japanese people about these issues, Everyone says it's in the past and everyone says it's anti-Japanese agitation.
Do you think we're acting noisy to you unlike other countries? What do you think it would be like if you guys were us? Is it right for you to forget about it and shut up quietly?
Rising Sun Flag ≠ Haken Kreuz. Haken Kreuz = Imperial Rule Assistance Association flag. Rising Sun Flag = Iron Cross. Although Hakenkreuz was abolished in Germany, the Iron Cross is still in use. Please learn your history and you will find out that your royals at the time left your people and Japan with no choice but to let Japan "adopt" you. Basically, what happened was we fought a war with Russia to *make Korea independent* from China (or the Great Qing Empire, because we didn't want their influence so close), and that didn't go well. After we won the war and made Korea an independent state, your royals didn't know what to do to keep the country running, and your government was a *total chaos with the most corrupted officers* on Earth. Gojong, or the Emperor Gwangmu, *refused to modernize* and ordered to kill people who held the idea. Your government at the time *failed in everyway* you could imagine: they were *corrupted* , secretly *allowed people to make fake money* by selling secret permits. They also betrayed Japan & UK & every other country who were actually trying to help your country to get on your feet. Gojong secretly asked Russia for help to get rid of Japan so he can restore power, and this made everyone furious. *Sarcastically, Russia actually turned against Gojong* after his got busted, because one random crazy korean guy *murdered our prime minister* Hirofumi Ito, and the Russians didn't want any problem on that shit. Japanese people *were sympathetic* to Korean people, however, we totally lost hope when we found out that your Emperor had just betrayed us, and what he did wasn't even for your own interest. Then, after all trials have failed and everyone lost all hope in your royals and your government, *Japan, UK and US talked to each other and decided* it's best for Japan to make the annexation. I know you may argue that no country will be "nice" enough to help a country out of total courtesy, well, of course we had our own interest. We had several concerns: 1. The fact your country did not have a functional government made it *hard for us to trade with you* . 2. The fact your government allowed people to make fake money caused a *financial disaster* . Your country literally had to adopt Japanese Yen just to have some working currency. 3. Your government was never one piece and was always fighting internally, which led to a ton of diplomatic betrayal. Several incidents almost *put us into the danger of war* for some total nonsense. For all the reasons and circumstances above, *WE HAD TO MAKE YOUR COUNTRY STABLE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER* . We tried to help you establish a new working government, and that failed, which just *left us no choice* . And there you have the annexation. The annexation was *well accepted* by the international community at the time.

I was going to say the same thing. This flag has been flown on Japan's Naval Ship docked in Australian ports in recent years. Its not Japan's national flag, it is Japan's "self defence" force flag.
The title of this video creates a lot of misunderstandings, because the Rising Sun Flag has never been used as a Flag of Japan, so it did not change after the war.

The 'War Flag' with its sun rays radiating out from the centre disc was adopted in 1870, as part of Japan's modernisation. It was thought that modern, western countries such as Britain and the USA had national and military flags, so Japan must have them as well. In fact, the specific design of the Naval ensign with its offset sun disk and 16 red rays was formally adopted in 1889 - which was also the year that Japan became a constitutional monarchy with a democratically elected parliament, the Diet. The fact that the naval ensign was also used during the 1930s and 40s when Japan lapsed into militarism and dictatorship must be offset against the fact that the same flag was also used by democratic Japan in the preceding years - and it uses symbolism which has been associated with the country for over a millennium. This can be contrasted with flags such as Germany's swastika (Hakenkreuz) and the Soviet Union's hammer and sickle. They were the symbols of specific political movements, the Nazis and Communists, and were adopted as the national flag when those movements seized power in their respective countries. As such, when Nazism and Communism were overthrown, their flags were also abolished and banned. The Rising Sun flag, however, is not the symbol of an ideology but of a nation. In this context, the events after the Second World War should be considered. When the Americans occupied Japan in 1945, they banned all displays of nationalism. Any display of Japanese flags at all was prohibited without the permission of the occupation authorities, which was rarely given. These restrictions were partially lifted at a highly symbolic moment: in May 1947, when Japan adopted a new and fully democratic constitution, they were also permitted to fly their national flag over major public buildings such as the parliament building and supreme court. Over the next two years the ban on private citizens using the national flag was also lifted in two stages.

山田 let me put it into perspective for you. Let’s say a foreign nation decides to take over your country, erase your culture, forces you to speak their language, makes your friends into sex slaves, forces your father to fight in their wars, kills entire villages for “fun”, turns your emperor’s palace into a zoo, digs up graves, constructs their administrative building in the front of a palace, kills countless people because of a peaceful protest, changes textbooks, spreads stories which cause your and your neighbor to hate each other, and much more. Do you think time will help you forget all of that? And y’know what? We want to forget it. But for us to forget it we just want Japan to admit their wrong doings, educate their children, and show how real people with dignity deal with their wrongs, so that we can stop hating Japan. Is that so much to ask?
I remember seeing the rising sun flag flown on Japanese ships when they pulled into Peal Harbor and went past the USS Arizona memorial. Only about 10% of their advocated for Korean independence. Taiwanese, who were incorporated into Japan 16 years earlier than Korea, have not protested anything against Japan on historical issues until today. The reason why Korea protests against Japan is because Korea is divided into north and south, and moreover, the northern half is a communist state. The southern half is a democracy, but it is full of spies from North Korea. Since they are of the same ethnicity and speak the same language, it is difficult to detect that they are spies. For me, because it was the Japanese army flag during World War II, and because it often appeared in the occupied areas or battlefields(or some inhumane place) of Japan, it was given a symbolic meaning (the occupied areas of Japan are generally managed by the army). And to a certain extent, it symbolizes the militarism and Nazi oriented Japan at that time. So on some special occasions, it may be natural for me to feel disgusted with this flag

Honestly if the Rising Sun flag is taboo then most other old military and national flags should also be.
@@Vaterlandstreuer the destruction of the heritage is a disgrace I've heard some people have so Mutch shame cast upon them that thay have themselves sterilized which in it's self is genocide. It has to stop

Fact
I have the rising sun flag on my wall

You do know the swastika comes from Buddhism, so thinking its a western symbol just shows its you who lives in a bubble.

The main meaning of the Rising Sun Flag and the symbol itself is "I wish you good luck."
The military element was added later.
・ The official flag of Japan is the Rising Sun Flag at any time. The official national flag of Japan before and after the war is the "Hinomaru".

But that *would* destroy Japan's diplomatic relationship with her neíghbors. Because here in East Asia, nationalism is as wipe spread and emotional (irrational) as Balkan. Even more so you might say.
Oh yeah definitely. As a chinese, can tell from experience that they’re also miffed af seeing it. Unlike in other nations however, China has rampant nationalism bc of their communist government’s brainwashing.

For Koreans, the rising sun flag feels like the Nazi symbol. It makes Koreans think of things like massacre and war
Did you know that An Jung-geun was in favor of the annexation of Korea? The Japanese Prime Minister at the time, Hirobumi Ito, was assassinated for his opposition to the annexation of Korea.
@@u1v.s7 Honestly, I'm not bothered by the use of the rising sun flag nor the Swastica. I'm more bothered by the double standard of Swastica being bad but the Rising Sun flag is not.

The Rising Sun Flag of Japan is not a claim of militarism, but a flag that is displayed in front of the house when celebrating. In addition, the Rising Sun Flag of Japan has existed before 1900. Certain people are trying to give a bad impression to Japan's Rising Sun Flag, but the truth is this.

Japanese sunrise flag has good design 👏🏻✨
If you look into more of war images of Japan, you'll find that they only flew the rising sun flag when they won the battle. basically the rising sun flag was used for celebration. also the reason why Japanese imperial navy used the rising sun flag is simply because hinomaru just looked like a white flag from the distance on the sea when it's not waved. that's why japanese navy aka japanese maritime self defense force uses the rising sun flag still:)
But I don't understand.. why would Japan still use the rising sun flag when other countries feel offended???

And you know only some fanatic Koreans are screaming that the Rising Sun Flag is a war criminal in Asia. Do you know any groups, for example in Thailand or Indonesia that are screaming so?

As a Korean, I want to talk to you. Koreans don't actually know what the Rising Sun Flag is like, but they are opposed in that it was used as a symbol of militarism. Obviously, it is true that the mesh or media acts stimulatingly in Korea, and it is true that there is an extreme Korean that you said because they hate Japan politically or blindly.
However, it is true that problems have arisen since you colonized Korea in the first place. After occupying it by force, it committed things such as exploitation of human resources, slaughter, and national extinction, and after World War II, it was divided into the United States and the Soviet Union, and the Korean War broke out. Of course, you can't look good from a Korean perspective.
Of course, it is also true that the Japanese government officially apologized like Konodamhwa.
When I talk to Japanese people about these issues,
Everyone says it's in the past and everyone says it's anti-Japanese agitation.
Do you think we're acting noisy to you unlike other countries?
What do you think it would be like if you guys were us?

Rising Sun Flag ≠ Haken Kreuz. Haken Kreuz = Imperial Rule Assistance Association flag. Rising Sun Flag = Iron Cross. Although Hakenkreuz was abolished in Germany, the Iron Cross is still in use. The Imperial Rule Assistance Association flag has been abolished in Japan, but the Rising Sun Flag is still in use. I think that is the reason why the Rising Sun Flag is not abolished. I would like to exchange opinions once about what Koreans think and what Japanese people think. I would like to exchange opinions peacefully rather than in a quarrel.

Originally, I had the same idea as above, but from the Japanese side's point of view, I think Japan's position is well-founded, so I'm still thinking about it. If the Rising Sun Flag should be banned, Belgium, France, and Britain, the same colonial empires in the past, are also logic that flags should be banned, so it seems too complicated.
Recently, I don't think Japan clearly expresses its position in Korea. I think Japan doesn't apologize like Germany. But because of that, I think there are cases where Korea treats Japan too emotionally.
@@김태원-p1c Japanese here and what I would like to say is that we *never* "colonized" Korea.
We had several concerns:

I would say it went the way of Germany's WW2 Flag.
