I was REALLY worried Andrew was going to like this after being such a fan of the first one. I feel validated seeing that we felt basically the same way about it. Like you said, especially as a sequel it fails immensely. I feel like this is one of those sequels that is better if you havent seen the first one.
@@lockekappa500 yeah I think it copies the first one in some instances and strays too far in others. I also don’t like how the concept basically makes what Maximus did worthless
@@Backseatdirecting Seriously. Thats part of the emotion of the end scene, that a good man can truly make a difference. It's already bittersweet with him dying, now with his actions basically being worthless, its just bitter. Also I felt him being Maximus' son just complicated things. Lucius already had every reason to look up to Maximas, he's even mimicing him in the first one. He sees him as "the savior of rome" If anything I think him being his son just complicates things, and muddies him following in his footsteps. I dunno I could go on and on about how it disappointed me, Im impressed you guys kept me entertained listening to two people talk about a movie I disliked as much as I did. You guys have such a great back and forth. Excited to follow you two.

@ thanks much brother! And I agree it makes things weird because he was the same age as maximus’ other son.
I was entertained, but Arron should have his man card removed for not having seen Gladiator or 300. 😂
@@lockekappa500 I’ll see him today and have it revoked lol
