- After buying my buddies 2019 CRF450RX and going for a rip I wanted to be sure to talk about the specs and what makes this bike unique. With the release in 2017 a lot of woods riders were excited to hear the announcement of this bike, with the X badge there was hope of getting a more tamed down, technical friendly machine. Unfortunately the 450RX is far from a woods bike and is basically a 450R with a kick stand, skid plate, and softer suspension. You can only adjust the ignition maps so much with a bike that makes this much power and the 60HP is a lot to handle.
So how is it in Supermoto form? There is only one word that comes to mind when trying to describe it, rowdy. It is an adrenaline rush wrapped in red plastics and will pull the bars right out of your hands if you aren't careful, the 5-speed close ratio makes it terrible for commuting but that's never what this bike was intended to be used for. It's an all out hooligan machine that feels like it is trying to kill you. And I love it! More on who this bike is for later but for now let's just enjoy our new toy and hit some back roads.

I love my 250rx , the 450 is more than anyway needs. really nice bike though man, my 21 looks the same and I find myself just staring at it. cant wait to see you get it in the dirt.

I hade a 2007 Crf250r and it went 125km in 4 seconds so I can’t imagine at 2022 crf450r

To be honest dont go for the newer bikes thay are very slow I have a 2021 crf250 and it's slow my old 2009 crf250r is way faster

Finally a big bore bike. I really missed the 450L.
It's a fun machine but I'd be happier on a fully built 450L or X.
Reasonable to be wary of that power. Take it easy and just enjoy it.

I have the Baja squadron pro kit on same bike. The spot is bright as hell(4900 lumens) but you can adjust the level of the beam.
what LED bar are you using for the headlight?
How strict are Ohio laws on exhaust? Im just a bit south of you (Athens) and Im looking to get my endorsement on my KLX 300 that is piped. Has the baffle but still screams.
I think a couple of sprocket changes for your track day to help bring up the top speed are in order.
Yes, you are correct on that point … every so often we get a supermoto at track school. The 450 does a fantastic job on the track but really gets crushed on the long straight sections. I’n the right hands they can run with the best of the bikes in the twisty areas !

I got 2017 crf450rx supermoto thing is a blast! I was thinking about buying a used transmission from a the l and put in rx to have the 6th gear. The stock twice pipes sound good to me I wouldn't spend money on exhaust
How many miles you got? And what intervals you do maintenance for street riding. I'm thinking about getting one or ktm 500exc
I let it go to about 800 miles last time book says to do it every 600 miles but I run good oil and keep an eye on color when I check it only hold lil over a quart of oil. I bout bike used unknown miles or hours put trailtech vapor on it

Isn't the 450 L just a tamed down version of that bike? I'm really surprised you didn't like the L, was it just the flame outs on the low speed technical that turned you off or was it just not trail friendly? I have a uncorked 450x that beats me up and I need to replace it with something light fun but still closer to the agility of this bike

Anyone know what the top speed is on this bike in this configuration? I thought I heard him say 60ish but I saw the speedo bump the 80s a couple times
You can reach 80 but cruising speed max of about 60. The close ratio kills the street-ability.

Looks like stock gearing on it, try a 14/48 or 46 setup.
Also, I have a 19 450L with the RX cam swap (DO NOT READ THIS AND BUY AND INSTALL ITS NOT A BOLT ON YOU WILL DESTROY THE TOP END) and according to my calcumalations figurin 1.21 giggawattz, it will do about 120 at the limiter and I CAN get it there. Had to go 14/50 from 13/51 to keep the front end down and it still wants to pull it up. It wasn't even that expensive to do.

I would love your opinion on the yz250x. I've been riding a drz400 for a couple years ago and am ready for a full blown dirtbike again, I am 99 percent convinced on the yz250x but everytime I almost completely decided on it I think about the 450 4 strokes... help.. my last actual dirtbike was a 03 rm250 which I used for trail riding. And it was... yeah....
I have a 16 yz250x and I absolutely love it easy to start super easy clutch pull suspension is amazing has plenty of power and it lugs like no other bike out there.
yea nah 250X wide open unless you are running from the cops, riding the dunes with bikini girls watching or a pro racer you will have

If you have the money get a ktm 500exc! Best full blown dirtbike that's already street legal. Really reliable too

However it may not be at the wheel but I know from multiple vids reviews that this 19r 19rx is the motor that everyone is transplanting into 450r wheelers It’s just a one year fluke only the 19 and Honda tried to mellow it out in 2020 and then 21 and 22 they even mellowed it even more which is why I waited for a 22rx One magizine review referred to it as a fighter jet lol Another 2 stroke Honda that is very sought after is the 01 motor but the chassis sucked. Also the 03 04 05 motor is supposed to be the animal of the 2 stroke days Just my 2 cents the the ultimate supermoto would be the 05-17 crf450x and many use it for it and those motors are dead reliable that’s why they have won Baja more than anyone else on that bike and when you open them up and take the green sticker shit off they are close to 50hp trust me I know mine had all the bolt ons and it was more Vilent then my 22 Crf450rx it is much much easier to ride

I personally would like to see it be turned back to dirt, yes it may be fun on the street but id think itd be an absolute animal in the dirt. Plus these things are super hard to come across now so id keep it for a bit.
On a side note a looped out in 5th gear, i am okay! When i went down my first worry was my legs so i remember myself going limp and basically doing two front flips after landing on my ass, this was in a corn field, bike is okay just a busted rear fender and a bent silencer, i however just have knarly corn field rash on my butt from hell. Makes me respect bikes that much more. Adios!
