- Self-levelling Tamper! 📸💫🖤
.
.
When it comes to tampers, there are endless options and choices. However, we advise our friends to search for two main important features which are:
🔹️58.5mm size instead of 58.0mm , this will tamp everything and keeps clean edges in the filter basket.
🔹️Self-levelling collar that will prevent the uneven tamping.
.
.
The unevenness will increase the chances of water channeling under high pressure during the espresso extraction, and you definitely want to get the best possible results out of your delicious coffee beans.
.
In general, if you take your time and aim to tamp evenly, you will be able to do that. However, as you can see from the video, having that self levelling collar makes the entire proccess almost effortless 💫
.
.
After testing so many different tampers, we believe that the @normcorewares V4 tamper is by far, the best budget friendly tamper out there. Additionally, we have a 5% discount code that you can use and benefit from 🤍

I just got a super nice noname calibrated leveling tamper from Amazon, and I can safely say that it makes a huge difference over the plastic one that came with my machine. I’m getting more extraction from the same grind size and more consistency
Wow! really helps when you push the thing from a perpendicular angle like you did in the second attempt, not sure what the extra stuff is for tho.
He’s demonstrating that the self leveling portion nearly eliminates the possibility of human error when it comes to tamping the level. The attached piece sits on the rim of the basket to keep everything perfectly perpendicular
@@Leapoffaith4 wherein "human error" is it going in perfectly straight until some genius pushes only on one side on purpose
@@justalonelypoteto He is intentionally exaggerating. Human error happens a lot in tamping, this tool helps to nearly eliminate it terms of levelness of tamp and consistency of pressure.
To elaborate, with a traditional tamper, you are fully reliant on your own skill and expertise to ensure levelness and pressure consistency, with this tamper you are nearly unreliant on yourself at all.
i mean you could also tamp it even and not angled lol
Actually kind of easier said than done. Manually tamping of the grounds is a learned skill, its muscle memory and habit based.
It does make sense to pick up something like this that removes the chance for error, especially considering you can get one for a fairly cheap price. This one's definitely not horribly priced, but if you really wanted to you could get one for like half the price, I think the only real difference is that this one will probably be a tighter fit in the porta filter.
I made at least one coffee a day for 3 years and still usually ended up tamping at a slight angle towards myself, it looks ridiculous in the recording but it's honestly not in practice. Maybe the video is slightly exaggerated to make a visual point, I can't tell.. but I can say the angle of the puck after he tamps it doesn't look too far off what mine looked like.
@@it-s-a-mystery it's most certainly for visual effect
@@it-s-a-mystery and I totally read what you wrote dont get me wrong but like just really don't do it at an angle and you'll be fine that is super exaggerated...there's better ways to show off a product then making people seem helpless I without it in my opinion
@@it-s-a-mystery I got my tamps pretty much perfectly level consistently after a week or so, you can clearly see whoever did the demo pulled their wrist to the right quite a bit since it is quite hard to get it this uneven, this shit is like those chinese tiktok tool ads where they can't get the screw out with a rubber band so they sell you their expensive tool to remove it instead
@@justalonelypoteto I don't know what to tell you, I never could get it down so I got a leveling tamp. I always created about a 5-8 degree angle towards my thumb and could never create muscle memory to account for that bias.
I guess it's a skill issue, but yeah. I don't regret not having to think about it ever.
I tried this for my Breville espresso machine and sent it back. The tamper puck is too thick. The top plate above it doesn't contact the portafilter rim until you push it really deep into the portafilter. On a 54mm Breville there isn't enough room to allow for this, so it really doesn't work. Great idea, bad implementation for a Breville.
I got another one with a puck that wasn't so deep and it works great.
Also, get a WDT tool to de-clump your ground beans before you tamp. It makes a lot difference!
This makes we wonder what does a leveler do that makes it worth buying over a tamper with an edge like this
We personally are not fans of levelers. Dosing funnel, wdt, and a leveling tamper. The perfect combination ☕️🤍💯
Ezért ne szedd szét a jól megtervezett kávédöngölőt:)!
Can you do more videos like this? How to avoid channelling, wet pucks etc ❤
Innovative
Great video 👍
Thank you! ☕️🤍👌🏽
☕☕☕
Love Is Important ...
Indeed! 💯☕️🤍👌😊
So you changed the 25lb spring to the 30lb spring ?
Good to know abt new things...thank you
🤍☕️😊👏
Do you love coffee?❤
🧡
Is that a functional basket? Which one is it?
Hi there, it is by normcorewares.com
Feel free to benefit from our 5% Discount Code 👉 OCS5%
Good👍👍👍
❤❤❤
Where i can buy it?
Which spring did you install on the tamper?
This is how the tamper comes
I’m guilty of making that mistake 😅
Try again. ❤
Hi i want one please.
What does the spring do?
It's a calibrated spring of 25lbs or so. Rough estimate.
สุดยอด❤❤❤❤
Thanks! 🤍☕️
สนใจคะ
а что будет если так вообще не сделать, и заварить кофе?
This is too funny. He tries so hard 😂😂😂😂
Unlike you who doesn't try at all and is a failure?
@@Adam-vx6to my failure has nothing to with the fact that this guy tried so hard he took apart a perfectly good press, that was already a working product, and properly reassembled it to do what??? You are so gullible to the fake-ness and the unoriginality of these people, you fuel what’s the most wrong with America
Do the rings help the water flow
Hi there, they will help to cover any imperfection of how flat the tamping plate of the tamper itself. Otherwise, it is mostly the same ☕️🤍
Does that pattern have any effect on the overall results?
Not really
No
WoW, nice! He learned how to hold it straight with a spring! Good job!
this will just compress one side more than the other if your coffee bed is not level
No, this tamper will compress every part evenly.
Well yeah you intentionally tried to make the first one on an angle and intentionally tried to make the other one straight. Be consistent when comparing things. Changing more than one variable makes the comparison useless
didn't you see that they used the extensions (spring and lid thingy) for the 2nd tamper? so it's nearly impossible to have uneven coffee ground now. human's hands can't be perfect everytime.
Hi there, we are not sure if you have checked the discription under the video or not. When you are trying to explain something, you have to take it to the extreme sides for easier understanding. We wanted to show how easy it is to mess up the even tamping. In contrast, how fast and smooth it is to have an even tamped surface with a leveling collar in the tamper. Overall, we were speaking about leveling tampers in general and thier advantags. We personally love the Normcore tamper and this is based on our experience after testing tens of tampers. It is by far the best budget friendly leveling tamper out there. Hope this was helpful ☕️🤍
@@ourcoffeeshelter for any competent human being it's not "that easy" though, unless you have cerebral palsy or something like it. And if you just put your fingers in a different spot you can clearly feel the rim of the basket and you'll notice if you're even slightly off level, in case that ends up happening. Spending more than $40 on another tamper to fix this is absolutely unnecessary
No shit. They were demonstrating the effect.
@@Adam-vx6to and a to b comparison should have all the same variables other than the a and b. Changing many other variable ruins the comparison. Sorry that facts hurt your feelings I guess
Bro I saw ur hand just tilt ur hand man that's why it was not flat
While you’re at it you may as well take a ruler to it and calculate the volume. All this effort for a cup of coffee
Why are you mad someone enjoys something more than you?
yes I definitely need an overpriced gadget for whenever I purposefully tilt the tamper at the bottom
Hi there, feel free to check the discription in the video. We did emphasise on the point that we wanted to show the difference and practicality of having a built-in leveling collar. You can 100% tamp in a levelled approach with normal tamper, that topic is not the point of discussion here. However, it is a matter of how easy, smooth, practical, and enjoyable to have this feature in your daily use tamper. So far, we have tested more than 12 tampers and by far the Normcore V4 is the most affordable springed/leveled tamper with 58.5mm tamping base and effective results.
We understand your point, however, our points are valid and you are welcome to read them. Hope you have a positive day ahead! 🤍☕️
At first You pushed to much in the left..
That's the point...
Choosing music that is so inappropriate and disparate and fits so poorly with the visual is kind of an achievement.
Get yourself a pod machine. Saves time 👍
Terrible quality.
I wonder why do all these coffee youtubers get the idea that everybody else is completely inept to the point of not seeing things that are not a matter of expertise but just common sense.
Still bad
No it isnt. Any other shit you're like to spout?
Bro, if you can't do it by hand - you need to see a doctor.
Ты просто криворучка😅
And the taste is still the same 😂
Gods, I love espresso videos. I'd love to have to have one of the big old steam machines; I'd keep it shiny. Unfortunately, my tongue reports espresso is bitter, bitter poison.
