The fails and experiments are cool, but I wish there was a channel or a playlist for newbies on how to set up a system to grow various food plants. Just straight to the point.
@@Hoocho I'm trying to replicate your Kratky bottles. I have 3 x 0.75l wine bottles + cotton with basil and chives, but 2 weeks and no bueno. Meanwhile, I have a planter with the same seeds with 50/50 perlite/vermiculite and it's sprouting fine. I think water does not soak up the cotton properly. I may need to restart this.
@@Hoocho Will do it from now on! I tried to tilt the bottle to the side so more moisture would soak up, but it didn't work. Thanks for the answer. I came for hydroponics, but stayed for time lapses (and hydroponics). Really good music. 🤩
Another kind of method that I use to grow tomatoes in 91F temperature is a pump spray 1. Regular pail like you have 2. A plastic tube fixed to a fish tank pump 2.1 The tube is right angled with an elbow connector. 3. Holes drilled on one side of the pipe so it sprays one side and at top. 4. Pump is cycled on and off so the water does not get hot. I note the plant roots grow extremely fast as lots of oxygen is available
I saw these on a USA RUclipsr's channel and liked the concept, so of course started planning a way to make a (much) cheaper version. I settled on the "20L Stackable Bin" from KMart - was $12 when I got some, but are now $8 on Clearance (Might have to get some more while they're still available😆). I covered the bin with black duct tape to keep most of the light out, and cut a hole in the lid for a largish net pot. It's been very successful, especially as my first dabble with DWC.
It’s quite nice how your videos come out at the exact time that I’m considering trying a specific thing. I absolutely love growing tomatoes and I’ve been so tempted to try my first dive into hydroponics and try out some dwc tomatoes. Perfect timing!
Hi can I suggest that you take off the airstone and let the bubbles be bare.. what happens is 1) Massive agitation of nutrients in the roots 2.) Massive spray of water when the bubble reach the top. 3.) When the water falls back down it will drag oxygen back into the water and it will mix quickly with the nutrients which is stirred by the big bubbles. BTW: My temperature here is 91F so many tomato plants don't do well. Another thing about air pumps is that you should put them on a power cycle because when the pump diaphram gets hot, the air also gets hot and that heats up the water and fungus can Grow... so cycle on off so that the pump does not heat up the air BTW: I am on the equator , and its hot and humid
Since the 12 hours the Video is online I'm wondering wich special type of plant you could mean...low stress training he said... nevertheless a great video! Greetz from Germany and I hope we legalize this special type of plant! Keep on doing Hoocho I love to see the Progression of using your potential
i like that bucket design! That lid is very handy, but ouch.... I'm 2 months into my first DWC in a 5gal bucket. I also started with beef steak. It's doing great but she's a hungry momma, drinks about a gal of water a day with only a .5 EC increase after 3 days. Lots of flowers so far!
I'm very interested in growing beefsteak tomatos indoors, and I'm intending on ordering a specific set of deep water 5 gallon hydroponic system buckets w/ pumps, and I've found that, but I have no idea how stakes or trellis' will work, much less how to operate LED light(s) for the variations of growth phases.
Hello Hoocho Please usea a check valve if you stay the Pump down on the Floor. The Problem is if the electricity go of the Water distroy your Pump and the Water go on the Floor . Happy Grow
Love the packaging, keeps inquisitive minds from knowing you're growing hydro.....but I have a RUclips channel called Hoochos 😂😂😂😂 Love your content & especially the time lapse sequences in most
DWC hydro bucket systems are nothing but a headache, because they generate MASSIVE amounts of humidity in your tent, and you WILL get PM. I thought of an idea for a ventilation system to keep the humidity generated by the air stones out of the tent, by having the buckets sealed and then having all the buckets have an inlet and an outlet at the top for a wide vent hose on each side and daisy chaining them and then having a small computer fan pushing air into the buckets so that the humidity is pushed out of the buckets before it can even raise the humidity in the tent, having the end of the vent hose outside of the tent obviously.
@@TheRickenthal well TBH I didn't have proper ventilation But I am just saying these things do generate a lot of humidity,it is like someone breathing heavy 24/7 in there ,
The concept behind the Hydrobucket is to never have to lift/disturb your plant to check or change out your nutrient solution. That also allows your to secure your plant to the Hydrobucket and or a trellis.
How is it you forget the nutrients and pH of your plants? Are you only at your compound now and then? How can we take any results seriously when you pay so little attention to your plants?

the fails and experiments show you what is possible and what to avoid, as a new user, this information is invaluable to you
"Certain types of plants" not sure what that means exactly, but interesting off the shelf product for growing tomatoes, I suppose.
The failure analysis and retrial was the best part. Thanks for the best content on hydro and kgatlw!

If you can get the bucket on sale, it's worth it for a new grower or someone with very limited space.

its great to see you show the bad and good plants. even the pros have issues sometimes. vroids suck!
You are bloody hilarious at times mate
Cool video man, what are those lights that you are using?
Seems like that curved lid is so you can drip ontop of the plant.
What if you added a float valve to top off like the ones in the gutter systems?
haahahaha show us the room next to this one hoocho, sounds like you know abit about lst and that jazz 😉
I watched a LOT of weed videos when I started hydro... Must have rubbed off.... Right
Great video! What are you using for a watering can? I love the design of it, the hole being in the back is brilliant.

Hahaha I love how you avoid to mention those certain types of plants 🤣
I've bought a couple AC Infinity 4x2 tents for my tomatos & peppers. Amazon is convinced I'm growing 420.
I bout a Auto variety 😏to grow in my dwc diy setup.

How about electric cost for each month?cost a lot ? Air pump, water pump, etc...
Awesome video, as always🎉🎉🎉. Have you ever worked out your water/fertilizer consumption per week for your gutter system?
If you have a video about this, i will watch it, but I can't find something like this
Is the hydro bucket hassle free and is it easy to access for a top up?
You can go to any hydroponic store and buy the parts and make one for a lot less then what they sell things for.
Prebuilt systems like these are for people that have more money than time.
Is there not a concern that the water could over time heat enough to kill the roots?
why do tomatoes wilt. What caused it? 9:11

deep water culture just feels like it has too many moving parts
are you counting each bubble as a "moving part"?
