pro tip: if power goes out, remove the water from the bucket, make sure to leave a inch of water in the bottom of the bucket. then fill a spray bottle with the water it was originally in and mist the roots every couple of hours until it comes back on.
pro tip: Use a computer ups power backup to keep the pumps going if the lectric goes out.....
that seems like a lot of effort just to avoid kratky for a couple days/ hours. Some people run their plants' entire lifecycle in kratky. It's not optimal but they'll be fine.
Batterystations cost like 150 bucks, welcome to 2024...
@@skankhunt420 that only works if you have planned ahead. but yes that is a perfectly viable option aswell.
You don't need to mist you can just convert it to kratky easy fix no power needed you can change back when ever or just leave it
Best tip in the video... well there were several really.. but my favorite is LET YOUR PH DO IT'S THING! Different nutes become more available over a range of PH values... You can set your PH at 5.5 on Sunday then find that it is 6.2 on Wednesday... thats FINE! As long as you are changing water weekly.. and keep it within a reasonable range.. think of it as giving your plant a balanced diet.
Great video man !
Good stuff Javar!
Great stuff. Straight into it well spoken very informative. My favorite part is no BS. Well done
A small bachelor fridge works great to cool the water. Run a long coil of water tube inside. Tubes can enter and exit thru (small carefully drilled) holes in the door. use a mixing valve to regulate the water temperature
More more more!!! =) Encore! Awesome video bro! Love the info 👌
Definitely want to try DWC soon
Thank you for your episodes .
UPS computer back up batteries do well for your pumps & fans, depending on sizes, of course
Ive grown plenty of times only changing the water once, when flipping. Never really had to changed it every other week.
Definitely seen clouds when I added micro right after silicate.
Love this
Great video bro. Question I’ve been thinking about.
Traditional DWC. If I install a SCROG IN A 5X5. 4 buckets total. What advice do you have for res changes? Is it possible to kind of lay on my side and just raise the plant up out of the old bucket enough to swap it into the new bucket? Or will that disturb my SCROG?
Thank you thank you👍👍
As you stated, you use a commercial air pump. Do you notice reservoir temperatures getting higher than wanted? I know those pumps pump out a lot of heat into the air and would like to know what reservoir temperatures you're running? Thanks
When and for how long do you flush your plant before harvest
something ive yet to try yet DWC but would love to try... good tips 😎
Doit I just started just to see if I like it actually much easier than I always thought but I keep it very basic. I just change my water once a week ph'ed and follow a nute chart I made. That's all I do throughout the week I don't mess with it unless it gets significantly low, growth rate is crazy compared to soil.
@@macpac3803 thanks
Is the total temp for dwc 65-75 at the highest? Roots and canopy temp or one and than the other?
This is really good...thank you...yeah i did all the wrong stuff too...lol...best way to learn ..
I wrapped my hydroponic buckets with aluminum foil tape to keep the light out and keep the nutrients cooler .
Do too much air contribute to Pathogen development?
Where can I get one of those hats?
Great video! Can i get a discord link? Tried a few i seen on here but none worked.
Appreciate it and here ya go discord.gg/ujvQ8S6N
Biggest issue after ive dialed everything in , is airstones clogging. I go through more airstones than anything else.
Does anyone have any remedies for this?
My pH is changes super quickly like from 5,5 to 8,2 in 4h. What is wrong?
I never hear anybody talk about how much water should be in the reservoir. First time Ive heard that. I havent tried DWC just yet, but would like to give it a shot soon. Good advice tho. Is it ok to keep the res water a little higher when you have a seedling? So the roots can reach the water sooner? Maybe even have some of the bubbles splashing onto the hydroton pebbles untill the roots have made it deep enough? Then go down 3 inches below the net pot?
Yes absolutely. You can have it higher with a seedling and as it grows just lower it
@@DusaFarms Do you just keep topping up the water with nutrients every few days or do you just feed once a week after changing reservoir water
@@christucker8174 I check my water lvl, ph, and tds about every other day... If all seems within range, I just leave it until the weekly water change.. PH being most important to correct right away... tds is a little tricky, because you never know exactly WHICH nutrients have been taken from the water, so correcting that too much can lead to issues.. At least on the weekly water change day, you know the exact concentration of each nute in your solution
I have had very good results doing DWC this way
H2o2 is good is your running a bit warm, or aren't sure if you have enough o2. Getting the levels right on that is important too.
So how you keep the Rockwell moist when u aren't doing a dripper and your roots going thru it yet?
If you place your airstone under your basket the water will spray up into the bottom of the basket keeping the small roots moist enough until they grow into the water, I use a 4"x2" large airstone.
How often do you change out the water and redo the nutrient solution?
Nvm you answered my question already
Hello everyone how’s it growing how often would you change your water in RDWC thank you Happy 😃 Growing 🌱DC from Oklahoma Out
Every week, every 2 weeks MAX
How is your approach for using beneficial bacterias in DWC? Cheers from Brazil.
dwc doesn't give beneficials a substrate to live in. Sterile with a tiny bit of pool shock in your rest is best.
Bassilus aqualius microbe concentrate. By southern AG. Excellent , excellent product. White full thick mass of roots. Keeps dwc cultivars healthy as a horse. Even when temps hit the 90s...
PPM question. Why would PPM show as 300 about 10 minutes after mixing with air pump running on high, then later that day drop by about 50 ppm (250), then slowly start raising 5 to 10 ppm a day?
Plant looks super happy. Tons of white roots and new leaves. 16 days old from sprouting.
Did you ever figure anything out with this? My target ppm was 150 and shot up to 200 overnight and has been steady at 200 for a week. I dont get it.
Water level has been the same aswell, plants look pretty good
@@HunterR1223 I have a cheat sheet, I will reply with the info. May I ask, why are you aiming for such a low ppm? Seedling/clone?
@@HunterR1223 If ppm goes up. It's too much nutrients.
If ppm goes down little. Your in the sweet spot.
If ppm goes down a lot. You need to feed more.

Go by ec count . Ppm is not accurate. Lol the answer to your question is , the plant eats, then it poops. Hope it helps

@@DusaFarms Thank you!
During vegging ph goes up, while flowering ph goes down.
I'm doing deep water culture but outside for light anything I should know about?
How are you going to control water temp?
I would recommend a pump that’s at least 300 GPH for a 5 gallon bucket. You want at least a liter per minute (or 60 gallons per hour) out of your pump
1157 gallons per minute to run a 6 banger .
What can you use if you don't have clay pebbles
Coco coir, I've heard of some using perlite
Just buy them. They're not pricey and if your doing dwc have the correct ingredients.
When is the next dwc grow?
I’m going to be running the hey Abby grow box until I free up some space in the tent after I do some breed and then I’ll grow out 1 DWC plant in the 4x4
@@DusaFarms dammm I'm so hype
Kid im loven your detail in teaching keep up that good work im a beginner indoors and all your info very helpful i want to get down on your team with the grow off pls hit me up and let me know
you dont need 24/7 Air pump on. What U need to do is simply cycle on off the pump so that the pump does not heat up.
OR if you insist on 24/7 air USE TWO pumps, Cycle pump A then pump B so that system does not get hot in the air diaphram
therefor the air wont get hot. You may also want to experiment with NO AIRSTONES with large bubbles splashing up water and agitating the water or a mix of PUMP A airstones and PumpB no airstones. and cycle them
Rule of thumb in DWC is for every forth liter in your system, you need one liter of air pr minute. So if you have a 30 litre DWC bucket, you need a pump that can provide 30/4 = 7.5.L pr/m at least. If you live in colder climate, a cooler is not necessary.
Great info kid. Your making me want to go back to the bottle or powders! Damn you man.... Lol
only thing stopping me is my back, have a hard enough time with my watering haha.
EC???
What about it? Ec prefferred for , ppm is just parts per million. Ec is what matters .
All you need is a water chiller nutes slf100 hydroguard and your straight....dwc monsters
Water chillers are fairly expensive, no? Say, just for one 5 gal bucket.
@@ewreck944 u can get one for 100 bucks off Amazon
@@scottskoi5592 it's been a year or so since I looked.. I'll have to look again. All the ones I saw were like $599 - $1000+
Not trien to be that guy but if you get good silica like grow genius you dont have to add it 1st.
Ngl I ran out of ph up last grow and I just added silica after everything was added and it literally did nothing to the plants health or uptake (used with flora flex)
What brand silica?
Was it mono silicic acid?
@@squirrelmaster5485 I’m gonna assume it is its botanicare silica blast which I’ve heard isn’t the best silica around but it seemed to do ok
Its not as good. Silica blast is potassium silicate which has to be broken down to monosilicic acid
